The final legal documents will be electronically signed Friday at 9 p.m., a City Hall official said.An Obama Foundation spokesperson told the Sun-Times construction starts Monday in the park, designed by famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.In July 2016, then-President Barack Obama, who launched his political career on the South Side, selected Jackson Park,

Interesting. So the Obie-Alinsky Communist Library picked one of the 'hoods to take land from. That's our Obie. Always out for the public good.

This is nothing but an ugly, really ugly, glorified community center. It was supposed to be built on blighted land south of the park. They claimed it would be an "enterprise zone" to benefit the locals. They could open businesses surrounding the "library" and take advantage of all the added tourism.
Instead he "paid" $10 for a park that belongs to the citizens of Chicago. It is an historic landmark designed by Frederick Law Olmsted as part of the 1893-93 World's Columbia Exposition. I could go on about the "blasphemy" of cutting down the trees and destroying the landscape of a genius.
On top of all of that, the park is essentially landlocked so Obama screws his neighbors once again because there is NO room for anyone to open any businesses.
AND...it will be costing the city millions in roadwork.

Agree #5. Taking land from a beautiful park when there is so much he could have done to help the South Side. What a “community activist.” But if Chicago keeps screwing themselves, who can stop them?

Look at the bright side, in the next Civil War when They carpet bomb Chicago it will be gone. Seriously, it is as likely as that project being a benefit to anyone other than Obie and ValJar.

I heard on Tucker that the big birthday bash was basically a big fund-raiser for his library. Tucker also stated that the "sophisticated" party guests were really
there for "super-spreader" event with 63 people testing positive for Covid-19.
Now I'm glad I lost my invitation and decided to party with uninvited Nancy Pelosi instead.

Yahoooo! We've been waiting five years to not see this garish monument to an insignificant little nobody with big ears and a bigger ego. His accomplishments can all be contained in a cornerstone the size of an ice cube.

FTA:It will take about four years to build the Obama complex, which will consist of four buildings, a garage and open space
Four years? We fought a world war and defeated Italy, Japan, and Germany is less than 4 years. Maybe Obie's Den will look like Berlin circa 1945.

Why not, Chicago real estate has no value anyway to sane people, might as well give it to an equally worthless individual. I will visit his presidential center right after I see the African American museum in Washington, which is also empty of anything significant.

On what page of the dems' $3.5 Trillion package of garbage is the payment for the Obama outrage? The timing is too good to be coincidental. The birthday bash was just the cover story.

They had to put it in an area similar to the one selected. Anywhere else, and no one would visit it due to the fear of getting mugged and/or killed.
