10 Defining Lyrics From Bob Dylan’s
Gospel Trilogy

Original Article

Of all the reinventions Bob Dylan has undertaken in his long, shape-shifting career, none was more radical and jarring than his conversion to Christianity in the late 1970s. In terms of defying expectations, not even going electric can compare with going evangelical. This was Bob Dylan after all, a Jewish-born avatar of 1960s counterculture. He could have adopted few other identities that would have felt like such a direct repudiation of everything his fans thought he represented. What happened? How did the restless mind behind “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Like a Rolling Stone” find Jesus Christ and later release a trio of Christian rock records?

Comments:

This is really interesting to me. I stopped following Bob Dylan when I stopped following most popular music in the 1970s but now I’m sorry I knew so little about this part of his life and work. From this account it seems he remains a true Christian. It’s just that no one in the media wants to say that.

Thanks for posting OP, a salvation story fits all too well in today's tumultuous times. I had a similar experience in turning away from most pop pop music in the 70's. But as I turned away from the sounds dominating the airways, I turned to Dylan and the Folk genera in general as well as country. Of course I still listened to the old rock and roll. When my wife graduated from high school in 73 we had Smoke on the Water, by the time I graduated in 74 it was Benny and the Jets.

Dylan was truly amazing in early '60 folk festivals I still view the old footage with him. Now on my playlist are the Byrds for advanced musicianship of Dylan's works. I'm still in awe of the talent when they were so young. It's a fact that Dylan stayed true to his musical poetic roots when the likes of Joan Biaz wanted him to march with civil rights or even get arrested for political stances Dylan didn't do it. Many talented people like the Band were birthed because of Bob Dylan he's an aging artist who will always be known for his great work.

Then again he's not even close to Leonard Cohen, a Montreal born Jew who is (was) a much better poet.

Judy W: It's still not too late to rekindle an appreciation for his music. The Bob Dylan Center is scheduled to open next May 10th in Tulsa, OK - https://www.bobdylancenter.com/ (Why Tulsa, since Dylan is from MN? A Tulsa oilman bought the rights to all of Dylan's music, papers, writings, videos and decided to establish the center there. Dylan is also an admirer of Woody Guthrie, who was from Okemah. Dylan hung out with Guthrie and other Oklahoma artists like Leon Russell)

You don’t need to know anything about Hungary to recognize that the people who’ve savaged Tucker Carlson all over the media for going there earlier this month are telling whoppers about it. Because what they say about Hungary in their rants about Tucker is intimately bound up with what they say in those very same rants about America. Quite simply, they hate the Orbán regime, and Tucker’s defense of it, for the same reason they despise flyover Americans. To begin with, they hate them for their patriotism. For Jared Yates Sexton at the Daily Beast, Orbán’s border wall, like Trump’s, “served as a metaphor

An open “letter to the unvaccinated” released by the Ontario Civil Liberties Association, issues a clarion call for individual autonomy and freedom from state coercion. Its mission statement regarding the COVID-19 vaccines reads in part: “The group emphasizes the voluntary nature of this medical treatment as well as the need for informed consent and individual risk-benefit assessment. … Control over our bodily integrity may well be the ultimate frontier of the fight to protect civil liberties.” It objects to the manner in which the unvaccinated are unfairly “being targeted by mainstream media, government social engineering campaigns, unjust rules and policies, collaborating employers, and the social-media mob,”

The issue of family court corruption is finally getting the attention it deserves thanks to some high-profile celebrities who have been speaking out about the outrageous violations of civil rights and due process that happened to them in family courts. The most recent is Southern Charm’s Kathryn Dennis who says her parental rights have been stripped in favor of a known abuser, ex-boyfriend Thomas Ravenel. Dennis posted on Instagram a familiar sentiment among parents destroyed by family courts. It can be exhausting to live two lives: one for your children and for the world.⁣ (Snip) Ravenel is a known convicted criminal, according to Post and Currier.

You can feel the cold terror of the Dems as Ron DoomSantis strides across the American political stage laying waste to the puny mortals nipping at his ankles, President Asterisk among them. The doddering old pervert might have thought he was cunning when asked by a reporter about the Lord Humungous of Florida by asking back “Governor Who?” Of course, the question became whether or not that mush-junkie Matlock superfan was trying to high-hat the competition or whether he really had no idea who the reporter was talking about when DeSantis riposted, “I’m not surprised that Biden doesn’t remember me .

WALL, South Dakota — Everything about Wall Drug, arguably the most iconic and long-lasting drug store in America, exemplifies a doggedness. It took persistence not only to survive but also thrive against insurmountable odds in a place few thought a small business had any business starting an enterprise in the first place. In 1931, when Ted Hustead and his wife Dorothy were looking for a place to open a drug store, he told the local paper years later he picked the thinly populated town of Wall because the local doctor told them he’d give them all his prescriptions. Despite all their hard work, though, most of their potential customers passed

Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Congress in June that he wanted to understand “white rage,” why “thousands of people” tried “to assault this building and … overturn the Constitution of the United States of America.” If Milley really wants to understand the “rage” of the American people he should start by asking why he and his fellow generals can’t win any wars. As a Marine Corps officer who served at the tail end of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I saw firsthand the rapid ideological transformation pervading the military in the wake of these disasters in the Middle East.

A former U.S. national security official warned that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is stealing data to compile a “dossier” on every American adult and may use coercive means to influence private citizens and political leaders. During a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing this week, former Trump deputy national security adviser Matthew Pottinger said the CCP has stolen Americans’ sensitive data via illicit methods, including cyber theft and hacking. “Assembling dossiers on people has always been a feature of Leninist regimes, but Beijing’s penetration of digital networks worldwide, including using 5G networks … has really taken this to a new level,” Pottinger said, referring to former Soviet dictator Vladimir Lenin.

On Thursday, Tucker Carlson conducted a fairly in-depth interview with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. It was a fascinating look at a classic liberal: Liberty-oriented values that don’t veer into anarchy, strong principles, and a healthy nationalism. The left has used “nationalism” as a dirty word since Hitler, as they seek a borderless world they can control, but healthy nationalism means doing what Trump did: Putting your countrymen first, without regard for other nations' demands that you subordinate your country to them – and that’s what Orbán does. Orbán was born in Hungary in 1963 when it was still under Soviet control.

The people running our government and fronting Biden had a great day Tuesday. In one fell swoop, with New York Attorney General Letitia James’ case—not even charges, merely a case—against Governor Andrew Cuomo for prolific, ridiculous sexual harassment, they solved a great many of the Biden Administration’s looming problems: political, personnel, and criminal. Indeed, there was lots of winning for the shadowy cabal. (Snip) The national outrage at Cuomo’s handsiness and bullying and the expiation of sin to follow as he leaves the scene, has made it unlikely that Cuomo will ever face justice for the deliberate murder of roughly 15,000 seniors in New York nursing homes.

President Joe Biden is weighing vaccines mandates for interstate travel, according to the Associated Press (AP) on Thursday. “Still, while more severe [coronavirus] measures — such as mandating vaccines for interstate travel or changing how the federal government reimburses treatment for those who are unvaccinated and become ill with COVID-19 — have been discussed,” the AP writes, “the administration worried that they would be too polarizing for the moment.” For the time being, the White House seems content with shaming those who are unvaccinated, while demanding private companies mandate vaccinations for their employees. For instance, Biden told churchgoers April 1, they were being ungodly if they did not become vaccinated.
