Florida threatens to fine cruises
over COVID vaccine requirements

Original Article

Florida is threatening to slap cruise lines with tens of thousands of dollars in fines for requiring passengers to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination—uncomfortably wedging the sector between a federal mandate and the state’s sensibility. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law earlier this month that banned bars, schools, restaurants and other businesses from asking customers whether they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19. The law goes so far as to impose a fine of $5,000 per customer that is required to show proof of vaccination, and the governor hasn’t yet shown any signs of making a carveout for the cruise industry.

I'm vaccinated, and I'm on team DeSantis. If you don't want to get the vaccine, that's your choice. I have nothing to fear from you.

Will De Santis commit Florida to paying Federal penalties levied against the cruise lines? Will he mind if these ships leave the FLA market for elsewhere. Texas recently passed the same law. Think those ships will be going out of Galveston for long? Cruising is a voluntary activity. No one has a right to cruise. The cruise lines have a vested and legal interest in requiring "proof" before allowing boarding. Don't like it; don't cruise. Really, it's that simple.

I live in Florida and I LOVE my Governor. I do not understand why he can't carve an exception for the Cruise Lines. They bring millions of dollars to this State. Millions of SENIORS use those Cruise Lines and I for One, as an Avid Cruiser, want the other Passengers to have been Vaccinated. We have six thousands passengers and crew on those Ships and if just one of them comes down with COVID, the Whole Ship will be quarantined for who knows how long. I think at this point in time we should do everything possible to keep that from happening. Could it still happen? Yes! Someone could Board, not have a fever and come down with it the next day or so. Meanwhile, anyone not vaccinated could then catch it and on and on it would go. Maybe someday it won't matter if everyone is vaccinated, but Now, after a year of COVID, I know I won't cruise unless Everyone on that Ship is vaccinated. But that's just me!

Could someone explain to me how the CDC became the arbiter of how a business should operate? Under what laws are they allowed to create these dictates?

Tallahassee, Fla.—The Biden administration is urging a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit that could stand in the way of states like Florida in allowing prescription drugs to be imported from Canada. In a legal brief filed Friday, the White House argues that the lawsuit filed on behalf of U.S. pharmaceutical companies was premature because the federal government has yet to approve any importation programs. The administration’s legal filing came on the same day Florida’s Republican governor, who is considering a run for the White House in 2024, called on the Biden administration to approve its drug importation application.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may consider a plan to bring deported illegal aliens back to the United States, presumably paid for by American taxpayers. The open borders lobby shared a plan with the Biden administration to bring illegal aliens deported by former President Donald Trump’s administration back to the U.S., according to the Associated Press (AP). More than 935,000 illegal aliens were deported by the Trump administration. The plan, open borders activists with the corporate-backed National Immigrant Justice Center suggest, could be done through executive order by Biden and create an office inside DHS that allows deported illegal aliens to submit requests to return to the U.S.

How much has the psychology of our nation been upended by this pandemic? We’ve seen people blindly turn over their lives to the dictates of the government. The government shut down businesses, jobs and destroyed lives. Children went without in-person school. Every other illness or condition seemed to be suborned to the interest of fighting the pandemic. When the CDC said that fully vaccinated people could now go without masks, one would think that those on the left who said “Follow the science” would have been happy. This meant they could drop the masks. But instead, people who previously accepted the government dictates then refused to accept that one.
