The eminently quotable Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana said sometime back: "Our country was founded by geniuses, but it's being run by idiots." I heartily agree, and the problem is not self-correcting. The principles behind the formation of America's government were and are exquisite, but the American government, like all forms of government, is corrupt as hell. This isn't an extraordinary statement. Exquisite things often break, and even the noblest of institutions become distorted over time until the original purposes for their creation are eclipsed (and often contradicted) by the personal motives of the men running those institutions into the ground.

Sen. Kennedy, you are being much too complimentary using the term "idiots".

What do we call those who elect and re-elect the idiots?

One of our fundamental flaws that may be our undoing is that we do not choose between an honest man and a scoundrel. We choose between people who are running. As often as not they are both scoundrels, and when reelection time comes we are choosing between the devil we know and the devil we dont. Still a devil.
On the rare occasions when we get an honest candidate who loves the country and Constitution, DC soon corrupts them or drives them out.

Kennedy stole that line from "The Caine Mutiny".

It's a common flaw in human civilizations. A few geniuses invent things like fire, cars, or television, and the rest of the idiots in the population use the inventions for stuff like burning their neighbors huts, driving around in circles on Friday night, or selling hemorrhoid cream.

It's so, so tempting to ascribe all of the massive totalitarian mayhem to "idiots". That is a serious, important misreading of the situation. Sure, many of the Fools-in-Charge are idiots, no question. But the people behind them, the names you don't know, their funders, their handlers, their fixers, their enablers are NOT idiots. They are evil, evil people who are providing these public idiots (Sheldon Whitehouse, John Kerry, Dick Blumenthal, Jerry Nadler, etc) with their agendas and enabling these obviously stupid people to have successes pushing their totalitarian leftist and globalist agendas.
Only the front men are idiots. The real power behind them are the evil, evil men.

#3, who elected Dr. Fauci or the bureaucrats at the CDC? Who elected the people who are really running the Biden administration?

In the Caine Mutiny, they were talking about the Navy: “The Navy is a master plan designed by geniuses for execution by idiots.” Similar, but not the same.

I didn't see this article as having much emphasis on the geniuses/idiots hook as it had on hinting strongly at what the people must do to stop this leftist insanity that is threatening to eliminate representative government and individual freedom.
