An Elizabeth landlord, who federal authorities sued last year alleging the landlord demanded sexual favors from tenants, was arrested Friday morning on several criminal charges “for allegedly coercing more than a dozen of his tenants into sexual acts in exchange for financial relief,” NJ Advance Media has learned. Joseph Centanni, 73, of Mountainside, was charged by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office with eight counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree attempted sexual assault and 14 counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact between 2016 into 2020, the prosecutors office said.(Snip) Centanni, according to the prosecutor’s office, targeted male and female

The demon collected more than $100,000 a month from federal Section 8 rent assistance, but that was not enough. Meanwhile, where are people's standards when having sex with this old creep in a boiler room is a good trade for living in a dump apartment?

How did these assaults continue throughout four years?! Union County is charging Centanni with 23 separate crimes. Five victims advised the Elizabeth Police Department of at least five different assaults. The victims knew their assaulter was Centanni. I do not begin to understand how these victims did not hound the police every week or so, and if needed pound down the door of the prosecutors' offices over and over until something was done following Centanni's assault on his first victim. Did the police make inquires of many other of his tenants? Obviously there were many others. Did any victims inquire around? Were these victims afraid of him as if he is a Mafia hitman? Do the victims have no confidence in their police? Their prosecutors' office? By God if any friend, relative or acquaintance of mine had told me that he or she had been assaulted by their landlord, I would have raised hell as needed until these assaults were stopped quickly and for good. If needed, I'd try to get the local newspaper involved. I'd use social media to gather relevant information, including the identities of as many of his other victims as possible. This past decade or so I've noticed that far too many people are "playing the victim" and not fighting back against harms and injustices happening to them and/or to others of which they are aware. This lying down and rolling with the punches has got to turn around. It's just another example of how this country is not what is used to be, and not all that long ago.

Please, folks. Sure, Centanni is scummy. You think his "victims" are attractive, upstanding, well-employed young ladies? More likely they're desperate Jerry Springer welfare queens one step away from going to jail or losing their kids by reason of neglect. The reason they never went to the police is because most of them have police records and warrants out for their arrest for not showing up for their last three theft/shoplifting/drunk & disorderly/solicitation/immigration court hearings. At least two of them likely made Centanni an offer he chose not to refuse.

Coronavirus variants are continuing to spread across the United States, accounting for more and more cases. California's homegrown variant, known as B.1.427/B.1.429, now makes up more than half of infections in the state and 20 to 40 percent of cases in neighboring states. Meanwhile, the UK variant, known as B.1.1.7, has spread to every single state and makes up nearly one in 10 cases in at least two states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has previously suggested B.1.1.7 would become the dominant strain in the U.S. by March, which so far hasn't turned out to be the case.

ICE said Monday it has signed a contract to set up more than 1,200 new detention beds to process migrant families, in a move that expands the agency’s ability to test new arrivals for the coronavirus. Tae Johnson, the acting director at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the contract is worth $86.9 million, and it will pay for “temporary shelter and processing services” for families who are not immediately turned back at the border, and who will instead be released into the U.S. The number of such families has been soaring in recent weeks, drawn by changes in immigration policy under the Biden

The richest Americans use crafty methods to dodge taxes on far more income than the feds previously thought, a new study shows. The Internal Revenue Service tries to catch high-income tax evaders with random audits—but they often fail to spot complex schemes that the wealthy employ to hide income, such as offshore bank accounts and pass-through businesses, according to the paper published Monday. In all, the nation’s richest 1 percent fail to report 21 percent of their actual income—and 6 percentage points of that stems from “sophisticated evasion” strategies that federal audits miss, IRS and academic researchers estimate.
