President Trump on Friday trashed Senate Republican leaders for blocking his requested $2,000 COVID-19 stimulus checks while failing to repeal legal protections for social media companies.“Our Republican Senate just missed the opportunity to get rid of Section 230, which gives unlimited power to Big Tech companies. Pathetic!!!” Trump tweeted. He added: “Now they want to give people ravaged by the China Virus $600, rather than the $2000 which they so desperately need. Not fair, or smart!”The Senate on Friday voted to override Trump’s veto of a $740 billion defense bill despite failing to reach an agreement on the $2,000 checks or repeal of Section 230

This confirms that President Trump is the only true INDEPENDENT candidate in this election, the one whose platform and policies are strictly and solely for the success and betterment of this country and it's people, and NOT his party or their many backers and selfish interests. Think of that. It's an amazing and unprecedented fact.

"... many CONSERVATIVES opposed the $2,000 checks out of concern for the national debt and inflation"
Such Hypocrites! Obviously, you had no problem voting for the - Trillion Dollar Plus Full of Pork for Other Countries' Omnibus Bill - giving millions and millions and more to countries all over the world without any concern for citizens of your own country. How much of those monies that you are giving to countries other than your own are causing the national debt to balloon into the Trillions and Trillions?
Shame on the lot of you!

If Mitch is saying that the rich will receive money, then Turtle, rewrite the bill. Make it more specific that only people within a COMBINED household amount can receive the $2K. Also, only small businesses that have been affected by this crazy shutdown will receive assistance. It's not hard, Mitch. For some reason you want to screw the people of the U.S. Also, Mitch, Act 230 needs to be dumped NOW. If BIG tech wants to censure us, so be it, then remove Act 230.

I will never again vote for a Republican unless all the RINOs are primaried and kicked out of office. My hope is a new party led or at least directed by Donald J. Trump. The thought that I ever voted for Pierre Delecto and Paul Ryan makes my stomach turn. No-- they were NOT better than the alternative! That is what it took us too long to fully realise. The RINOs work hand-in-glove but quite covertly with the commies, and the effect is the same as if it were all overt commies. Just look at what was happening until Trump took office, and look at what has happened to try to undo him in a four year long, multifaceted coup.
The Republicans are dead to me.

Compared to the amount of cash I’m forced to send to the IRS every year, $600 truly is “crumbs”. 2020 was supposed to have been my busiest business year ever but covid took care of that. And I didn’t qualify for a single penny of PPP cash. The only silver lining to this black cloud is that I retired as of Thursday night so I will be sending the IRS a fraction of what I used to pay them.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka gets $15 million to repair a single boat and Muslim Pakistan gets millions for “gender” programs in a society which only recognizes one “gender” - male.

The wife and I do not need $2k but I am sure plenty of good folk do. That being said, you must learn to live a life that is not dependent on government for anything. We were self employed for 30 years. Never owned a big ol house or drove fancy cars. We paid cash for just about everything. Once our modest home was paid for, we retired in our early 50's. We were able to live well and put our son thru college. We simply lived within our means. Remember, the government giveth and the government taketh. On a side note, our largest income in our working years was $39k for the year and we live in California. Rely on God, family and friends. Have a blessed day good folks.

I agree that it is mistaken to expect any handout from the government. But, when the government itself puts you out of business, or causes you to lose your job working in one of the destroyed businesses, as has happened here in Pennsylvania for countless restaurant owners and servers to name just one category, then the government damn well OWES you compensation!
Governor Wolf, a multimillionaire, has everything here locked down until January 4. At which point His Royal Highness might well decide to lock it all down some more. Did I mention that the man is a multimillionaire whose salary and perks as governor have been uninterrupted? While single mom servers are wondering how they will buy their kids needed winter coats?
There should be a special corner of Hell for this kind of arrogance and cruelty.

Typical legislative trick by tacking it on to the defense bill. If you have enough wishy-washy reps who might not vote to override then lay a guilt trip on them with service member salaries, equipment purchases, and the operations and maintenance budget. Cynical, crooked bastids.

The bill that was represented as Covid relief was less than 10% for that purpose. The rest was a pork-fest of wasteful spending. The only reason for these last minute bills is to ram through spending for projects that should never see a dime of government spending.
The Congress is supposed to have all funding measures completed by the end of September. Their pay should stop on that date and only resume when they get things squared away. If they are 3 months late, they should lose that three months of pay.

Let it go for an up or down vote. Mitch shouldn’t be the one to decide. I agree with the previous post that the Democrats will pressure Mitch (if the Republicans hold the Senate) to get this through in the next administration, giving Slo-Joe the credit.

But look at the great accomplishment of the Congress, refunding the Palestinians with $250 million, billions for climate change and Democrat slush funding, removing Confederate names from the military bases, more diversity training, more speech control---chicken feed for those with incomes under $75K, trillions all paid for with money printing. The uniparty is back in complete control of the government, so we can expect more amazing things like this, none of which the people have thought to ask for, and would refuse to pay for, if they had a say in the matter. It is pathetic, and ruinous, but ruin is the goal, so the emergency will allow the Democrats to implement their communist system. That will make everybody worse off, but the Democrats will have total power. That is the goal.

Well if the Republicans get wiped out in Georgia with McConnell pulling the string that makes that happen, and in the end Biden is inaugurated. What President Trump should think about is running for a second presidential term as a conservative Democrat in 2024. With his seventy million mostly all Republicans supporters plus and unknown number of Democrats Trump would probably win, if the leftist and liberal Democrats did not sabotage Trump’s chances in the Democrat primaries. And especially if Biden and Harris do great harm to the US economy by supporting leftist and socialist political agendas. That’s the only way to cause the State Republican Parties to shy away from nominating RINO’s in the future. Right now it appears that in Georgia that the Democrats are on the offense telling the people what they intend to do for them in essence by giving them free money, while the Republicans are on the Defense talking almost exclusively about China that most Georgia could give a hoot about.

Our republican leaders have never led a 3.6 unemployment rate.
Have never won 79 million votes.
Have never instituted peace in the middle east between Israel and the arabs.
They start wars killing our young men and maiming them.
And they know more about this topic.
They are frauds, yes you mcconnell, thune, blunt, wasou, or whomever...
You have to get rid of Mr. Trump,, he makes you anti-Americans look like the fool you are.........\

We don't need checks, we need to reopen. What are we, Democrats? Money doesn't come from the government; that's just indebting ourselves and our future generations for a tiny bit of relief. We need to reopen EVERYTHING already.
