There’s been a lot written about the power Vice President Pence has to turn the stolen election around on January 6. Many commentators on various sites (including AT) have weighed in, some expressing hope, while other have expressed doubt Pence would do the right thing. But it appears all of this is moot, as Bill Jacobson, founder of Legal Insurrection writes: A claim has circulated widely in the past few days that Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, has the power and discretion to reject certifications. If Pence had such power and chose to exercise it, it would be over, but he doesn’t.Jacobson cites relevant language

I'm afraid he is not going to do squat.

Sounds promising that at least 140 House members will be granted 2 hours each to present the case for the fraud election.

I think the author is grossly too pessimistic. Pence's argument about the Gohmert case may be correct, but it need not signify that he will passively accept the slates of electors. Keep the faith. Pence is a godly man, and he has no interest in accepting the abomination that this election is. The President of the Senate has disrupted elections before. The resolution of this uncertainty will come in time. We will know soon enough whether to rejoice or to steel ourselves against a travesty. I don't accept Jacobson's analysis in light of historical precedent. Be resolute and faithful my friends, and God be with us.

Wouldn't matter, the republicans would still vote against Trump I'm afraid.

Since VP Pence thinks he is a contender for 2024, regardless of what happens to President Trump, Pence will be quite measured and not overly aggressive on the 6th. But, other pubbies from both houses, you all are ready to fire from both barrels?

I haven’t read or heard that Pence wants the Oval Office . In any case it’s time for the baby boomers to bow out. Time for the next generation. Only exception is Trump running in 2024.

Uh, Carol. Pay attention. NONE of us ever thought anyone but the LORD could save us. Pence is a fine man, but he wasn't appointed savior any more than President Trump was. But they serve at the direction of the highest court in Heaven. How did you miss that information?

If the Democrats had any interpretation that they could object, they would and then battle it out until they found a judge to rule their way. Republicans never learn to fight.

If the author is right, then there are only 2 options: accept the travesty or "resist". I suspect they don't realize that we don't resist the same way they do.

As someone cleverly pointed out on another thread, if Pence doesn't come through in support of PDJT, his hopes of running for anything in the future are shot. He'll be lucky to find a job parking cars. Note how he caved over LGBQT marriage when he was protested in Indiana for refusing to allow gay marriage.

What is very frightening is that I have been hearing some very negative things about VP Pence lately. Lin Wood is out there saying some very damning stuff. Not sure what is going on at this point.

We have been given hope and let down numerous times since November 3rd. Let's face it, the "Right Thing" is a relic of the past. We will have to fight the old fashioned way to get it back.

Trump failed himself. This is, was, and remains a political fight, not a court battle. He has, to now, failed to pursue a political battle - calling out the legislatures in each "controversial" state to do their Constitutional duty in the face of evident fraud. Those 140 "angry" members of congress will preen for the cameras and the home folks...heroes without meaning, playing to the grandstands. The fact is most of these are UNIPARTY drones doing what they need to game the suckers back home, proving their ultra-patriotism and all that malarkey. And the suckers will continue to send money for the next term campaign while demanding term limits.
As they say, wise up. Right now Americans are getting slapped hard while learning to like it. Start tossing out those state legislators, governors and secretaries of state that supported/certified this fiasco. Take over your local/state Republican party by getting involved as a precint captain or local chair/officer. Or, take it to the village green where you can be the patriot firing that first shot heard 'round the world...maybe water that tree of liberty.

The good result of Mike Pence's failure is that he has probably killed his chances to be President. YES!!!
