The biological entity known as Joseph R. Biden will be inaugurated on January 20. Success has a thousand fathers—and one of them is a conservative publication where many principled conservatives spend their days tearing down the most conservative president in generations. I therefore would like to congratulate National Review and its principled conservers of conservatism on a job well done. At long last, your efforts to undermine Donald Trump and make yourselves irrelevant have borne fruit. For National Review this has always been less about policy and more about “personal and moral character.” With Joe Biden, National Review can finally have a man of real character in the Oval Office.

The logic of the Never Trump "conservative" is impossible. So why did they really oppose him?

Indeed. And I would add Rod Dreher of The American Conservative to the brew. He has an inexplicable animus toward President Trump and can't really give a reason why except that he thinks Trump is a bully.

Its not Jan 20th and they haven't gotten their wishes - yet. But I agree with the spirit of the article.

Once again another so-called conservative writer spews forth a surrender article on Biden being elected president. Another sunshine patriot who would rather bow down in submission than fight for his country. To the surrender monkey writer of this article who has the gall to point the finger at the Nation Review for their undermining of President Trump - with your first sentence in this article you are doing the same thing. Colossal Hypocrite

Over the last 50 years, the National Review has barely mentioned the bane of a truly conservative America -- the unconstitutional Administrative State. The National Review is not conservative. They're just social Normals who want to be liked by the cool kids.

Trump has messed up the long established method of doing business in D.C. You get elected, you have people who want you to vote a certain way who are willing to give you money, women and anything else you want (those people can be other politicians with war chests of money to share for your reelection).
One of the ways to get bribes to you is to get a "publisher" to give you a big advance on a book (doesn't matter if it sells even one copy). Another is "donations" made to your "charitable foundation".
All of those gifts become the blackmail that allows them to continue to control you. Then they own you and your vote for as long as you live. When you get removed from office, they provide you a cushy job with a lobbyist to keep you beholding.
This is how the Deep State became a well oiled machine owning both sides of the aisle.
I hope the first arrest is a republican!

The National Review columnists are back to critiquing - Biden should do this, Biden must not do that - advice that has zero impact on the Democrats. They seem happier with being on the sidelines, heedlessly calling out to a game being played on the field. Trump put us in the game and winning and it just seemEd to be too much for them.

NR and NRO online are garbage to me. They’ve gone the way of Peggy Noonan. I used to enjoy reading them. But they crossed the line. They betrayed me, they didn’t just offer a different opinion. I’ll never read them again.
If you urinate on me, don’t expect me to spend my time and money on you. That’s what NR and NRO have done — Noonan too — in their anti-Trump positions. Screw em!

Early in the 80’s I subscribed to NR when Buckley was in charge. I was challenged by his insight and formidable vocabulary. There was great writing by all the staff then. After his passing, the magazine gradually changed to where I lost interest in keeping my subscription. Today’s NR is not Buckley’s NR when he first started it.

If only "principled conservatives" spent as much time and energy and words from really big thesauruses fighting leftists as they do fighting "deplorable conservatives," this country would still be in good hands. But apparently they just crave perpetually having "battered little bitches syndrome."

While I agree with the intent of the NR, congratulations are premature. I do not see a white flag over the White House and certainly not among the millions of conservatives out here.

If this was an honest election, lots of "traditional Republicans" got their wish. So thankful God answered their prayers by removing this hideous man from office.
But this election clearly was rigged, despite the best efforts of the Re-Election Deniers. It was rigged by the UNIPARTY to rid itself of PDT for a simple reason: Profiteering. It has been going on particularly since the Clinton regime. They showed how it could be raided to a fine art, and never any consequences. Small graft got big; foreign corruption came to America. ABSCAM was a joke in comparison. There are trillions in play - enough to precipitate wars in most eras. Today, it's just cheaper to rig the US Presidential election.
Now, put on your effen mask and shut up. You'll be okay.

I think their are many patriots in this country that have not surrendered to the left in 2020 like this author We have been post constitutional for many years, civil war for 4 years with only the left fighting, full on martial law in many states under medical tyranny, now with the destruction of our election system the good people of our country have been awoken. January 20th this year may be the beginning of a new nation not a new administration. We all will just have to wait and see.

National Review has declined so sadly. I’m going to discontinue my 20+ year subscription. The first pages with position comments used to be fun, but have become now more like CNN commentaries. Snarky used to be an occasional behavior, but now seems to be the favorite mode of expression for N.R. Sometimes I suspect that Bill Kristol has become the managing editor. Thank goodness that NewsMax and OANN have become available to offer an alternate opinion to the rest of TV news. Also thank goodness for the Lucianne site, when most other conservative sites have the same thing and usually a few days late.

From the time "the campaign spot" was "the Kerry spot" until mid 2016 the National review on line was a favorite website. Since then I have not read it at all.

National Review is not a monolith. They have different contributors with differing positions, consistent with the continuum of conservative thought. They have published articles from writers who are pro-Trump, from those who were unhappy with Trump but thought he was the only option available, and from those who were committed "Never Trumpers." Yet people constantly refer to National Review as if it had a life of its own, and a singular position that is represented in every article. It's simply not true.
As a conservative, I appreciate getting many different conservative slants on issues. National Review was publishing conservative thought for a long time, back when Trump was a Democrat, and will be doing so after Trump is only a memory.
