Abraham Lincoln, an iconic American hero, could soon be an outcast in San Francisco, his legacy called into question and his name ripped off a high school. Lincoln is one of dozens of historical figures who, according to a school district renaming committee, lived a life so stained with racism, oppression or human rights violations, they do not deserve to have their name on a school building.(Snip) “Uprooting the problematic names and symbols that currently clutter buildings, streets, throughout the city is a worthy endeavor,” said Jeremiah Jeffries, chairman of the renaming committee and a first grade teacher in San Francisco.

I ask again, when do we get to pass judgement on black America?

Regarding History through the prism of Today - disregards history. If we currently have no idea how we got here, and no true perception of where we are, we have NO idea of where we are headed.

This is just f - ing stupid. So many ignorant asshats living in America with no understanding of what history is and why it should be studied. Abraham Lincoln truly was one of our greatest Presidents. And the incoming administration leaves me with a sick stomach with their hatred of us and America. We are in for a rough 4 years.

SF Fact Check: "Was President Lincoln a Republican?"
SF Fact Check Conclusion: "Our research concludes that President Lincoln was in fact, deplorable."

I like to imagine their view from hell when they see subsequent generations denounce them for the inhumanity of abortion, and strip their names off public buildings and streets. Talk about being on the wrong side of history...and salvation.

Abe is still a hero. Some S.F. "educational" circles are loony.

No problem. Just rename everything John Wilkes Booth. When Abe was a young man he signed on to take a trip to New Orleans. There he saw a slave market. He said it was the first time in his life he ever had hatred. For slavery. This silliness simply is total ignorance.

I guess the nearly 600,000 Northern soldiers who were killed, wounded, missing or captured didn't care enough either.

Maybe he should start with his own City, since it's a religious name, one he likely does not condone.
San Francisco was founded on June 29, 1776, when colonists from Spain established the Presidio of San Francisco at the Golden Gate and Mission San Francisco de Asís a few miles away, both named for Francis of Assisi.
And, maybe start changing all of those Spanish names since they were oppressors too, particularly to the indigenous Indians who were living throughout California.

Tried to post this Daily Mail article earlier; they wouldn't allow me....Here tis: San Francisco to rename Abraham Lincoln High School because former president did not demonstrate that 'black lives mattered to him' - as woke renaming committee also takes aim at Democrat senator Dianne Feinstein and Teddy Roosevelt

The school district renaming committee apparently never studied true U.S. history. Mary Lincoln's family did own slaves, but Lincoln himself did not. Funny how the voting in the 1860 election along the Pa. and Maryland border reflected the nation's divide toward slavery. Towns and farmers just a few miles apart separated by an line on a map, voted exactly opposite of one another. Those south of Pa. in Maryland voted against Lincoln and for slavery, and those in Pa. just across the line from Maryland voted for Lincoln and against slavery.

I'm going to start a movement against MLK and the life he lead, maybe topple a few statues, change a few street signs. Sure, his speeches are good but that's not all there was to him. That should make them see how we feel seeing our history being erased.

NO not against MLK!!! His relative Alveda is a strong supporter of Republicans and conservatives. I know plenty of blacks who know the history and they are conservative too. If there is anyone we should excoriate its Malcolm X, Jesse Jackson, and a variety of race hustlers. Lets not hurt history just to hurt others, ok?
