The Supreme Court late Wednesday temporarily barred New York from enforcing certain attendance limits at houses of worship in areas designated as hard hit by the coronavirus. The court on a 5-4 vote granted requests made by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and two Orthodox Jewish congregations. An October 6 decision by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo shut down non-essential businesses in targeted areas where infections have spiked, including some Brooklyn neighborhoods. The groups sued to challenge attendance limits at houses of worship in areas designated red and orange zones, where New York had capped attendance at 10

FTA:The justices split 5-4 to bar the state from enforcing the restrictions against the groups for now, with new Justice Amy Coney Barrett in the majority. It was the conservative's first publicly discernible vote as a justice since she joined the court on October 26. The court's three liberal justices and Chief Justice John Roberts dissented.
Slight correction needed. The court's 4 liberal justices dissented. Amy will be saving the day far into the future.

I remember Roberts, his wife and two small kids at a press event for either his nomination or confirmation.
The miserable snarks at the NY Times, others perhaps, mocked his kids' clothes so sappy Roberts got the message early.

It would appear that in the absence of RBG, the SCOTUS now holds a 5-4 majority of justices that support the Constitution as written, not as it ought to be interpreted from a liberal dogma basis. Good. I hope that this commitment to the First Amendment is an indication that they will act in a similar manner when the liberals attempt to challenge the Second amendment, because it is clear that bad people want to remove from the Constitution: " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Reading the headline with 5-4 vote made me wonder if Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg was still alive. Then reading it John Buzzy Roberts joined the run a muck liberals on the left and dissented. What a disappointing loser.
Good for the Supreme Court and Justice Barrett.

In hindsight it is clear that the two Bushes made some terrible judicial nominations. In Roberts case I believe that before Bush nominated him to the Supreme Court that Roberts was a “deep state” DC bureaucratic functionary.

This is only the beginning. This is the way that the left has always done things. They go to court, when they had a majority, and legislate by court order. Well the tables have turned, let's see how they like it for the next forty years.

But we must pray for the health and welfare of all five of the constitutionalists--especially Clarance Thomas. The death of Scalia was a shock. May the Lord be pleased to keep us from such a shock again.
Roberts has been, to say the least, a HUGE disappointment. But since GWB has confirmed his globalist upbringing, Roberts should be no surprise. He's another who forgot where he came from.
KAG!!! Lord Jesus, please keep our fearless five safe from danger and strong in health!!! FOUR MORE YEARS!

How is this vote not unanimous? Winning is winning, sure, but it's so troubling that such a slam-dunk case can not find all the justices in agreement; that in and of itself proves the politicization of the court. Disappointing.

The Reuters agency says "where New York had capped attendance at 10 ". The Reuters agency as usual is wrong. It was one man, who was "elected" to govern the state's executive branch who made the decision. His last name is Cuomo, as I remember.

We have a 5-4 court. Let's just deal with that. If we get Roberts once in awhile, that's nice.
Let's hope Justice Thomas and Alito remain healthy and wise through the next four years, assuming that we may have the reign of Joseph the Idiot and Kamala Hotsprings ahead of us.

They must have Robert's photo on the Lolita Express. That could be why Schumer yells threats at certain SCOTUS justices.

Damn shame it took the addition of Barrett to achieve a conservative majority in the SCOTUS.
But then, wasn't Roberts a Bush II appointee? Makes sense that Dubya screwed THAT up too.
