A Very Unsettling Thanksgiving

Original Article

For the first time in recent memory we will be unable to visit our son and his family in Hawaii for Thanksgiving. The quarantine requirements have been lifted if we take and get a negative result on a COVID test. (Something like 90% of the positive results on such tests are false positives.) But it’s a very long flight during which we’d have to be masked in flight and at the airports and it’s more than we can endure. (Even if we assumed the masks were efficacious, which I don’t think they are -- indeed, I think they are counterproductive -- we find them physically uncomfortable.)

I feel for these people who cannot fly to Hawaii for a Thanksgiving dinner with family, but I feel worse for people in New York and other places who cannot have dinner with their families 5 miles away because some power mad Governor has put out an edict and claims it has the power of law behind it.

I live in Florida where we're still a Free Country! That said, If I lived in NY or LA, nothing would stop me from having Thanksgiving with my family. Lets get real! I'm betting most families are going to give a middle finger to Cuomo and Newsom and have their Happy Thanksgiving with their family. There is only so much a person is willing to take from "Their Betters" and I think most folks are at that point! If you let them ruin your Thanksgiving, next it will be Christmas! The Kings and Queens don't know when to stop ordering their Little People around!

This is an excellent piece by Ms Feldman, serving up the two great unsettling main courses this Thanksgiving, the baked ham (the virus) and the turkey (the election).

Unfortunately for Clarice, she and her husband aren't members of the elite that went to Hawaii for a powwow of the UniParty and their donors (they weren't quarantined for 2 weeks like everyone else). Haven't heard a word from Sen Hirono on whether anyone of the Powwow attendees were sexual molesters, but I'm not surprised since none of them were nominated for the Supreme Court. Clarice is right on message - the elite that run the country (except Donald J Trump) are tinpot dictators in drag, just waiting for their chance to be Kings or Queens of their subjects. It's time to dump the tea in the Harbor.

I have been invited to Thanksgiving in the great state of Texas with about 40 others in my family, as always. Since family meals are frowned upon and funerals are allowed, my cousin says she is holding a funeral for her pet turkey and refreshments will be provided. I will be dropping off a plate to my 100 year old uncle who is at home with covid. If a German torpedo and being on a lifeboat at sea for 6 days in WWII didn't take him out, I doubt that this will.

There are many ways to give thanks to God, which is the meaning behind this holiday. The upcoming Christmas, the most important one of all, will elicit many complaints from disappointed shoppers and gift recipients. Try to stay on track. My children and grandchildren opted not to visit us this Thanksgiving. At the news, the wife and I gave a collective sigh of relief.

Our son-in-law is from a country in South America. He is an only child and his parents are in their late 70's. He was planning on visiting them for two weeks in December but has changed his mind because of the chance the borders will close again and he won't be able to get back to the U.S.. I feel sorry for his parents, they haven't seen him for almost two years now. Poster #5, same here. If the cops come to our house Thursday, we're telling them it's a memorial service for our pet turkey who died and that he's being cremated.

Dang it, #5! I wish I had thought of that. All I've got is 4 grands, 2 adults and a teenage step-grand I have never met. And the deceased turkey, of course, which will be roasted. And toasted.

We will be doing our usual. 5 people so far (all relatives) and maybe another nephew and niece. I got all the fixings last week. I don’t dare ask my LIBidiot sister in Northern California if she has invited her elderly FIL (who, incidentally, gave them the down payment for their house...which he inherited from his evil rich parents...go figure) whom she dislikes. I’m sure she will be following Gruesome Newsom’s dictate. Good excuse for her not to show love and respect to the man who consistently bails them out with cash. I’m afraid to ask...or tell her what we’re doing for fear she’ll report me! Eat more turkey (and drink more Ovaltine!).

Yesterday several Pennsylvania Republican Party officials and individual Republican voters filed a lawsuit in state court seeking to obtain declaratory and injunctive relief based on a claim that the legislation which adopted “no excuse” eligibility for absentee voting was an illegitimate amendment of the Pennsylvania State Constitution. (Snip) Here is the issue as presented by the Complaint — the Pennsylvania Constitution sets forth the basis upon which voters (“electors”) may cast an absentee ballot, and Act 77 did not “amend” the State Constitution as has been done in the past when changes were made to the Absentee Ballot provisions.

Not only did Republicans make big gains in the U.S. House on Election Day, but among those elected are men and women whose families fled communist and socialist countries and came to America to build better lives. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) is the daughter of Greek and Cuban immigrants. Maria Elvira Salazar’s (FL-27) parents were Cuban exiles. Carlos Gimenez (FL-26) was born in Cuba and his family emigrated to America in 1960 after the Cuban Revolution. Gimenez’s father Carlos Gimenez, Sr., who was 98, passed away just days after his son was elected. Victoria Spartz (IN-5) was born in what was at the time known as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

I confess to having been utterly naïve. I had wondered why on Earth the business community would prefer a frail and corrupt president Biden over a pro-business president Trump. (Snip) But Wall Street, the tech industry, and many more backed Biden, while even many GOP congressmen seemed lukewarm to Trump. The choice for Trump seemed so obvious, what was I missing? The difference is the status quo. A lot of people make lots of money the way things are now. They constitute a powerful force that seeks to get rid of inconvenient obstacles — especially a serial disruptor like President Trump.

Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell on Saturday said that the president’s lawyers will file a lawsuit of “biblical” proportions, alleging that some elections officials were embroiled in a pay-to-play scheme with a prominent manufacturer of voting software. “We’ve got tons of evidence; it’s so much, it’s hard to pull it all together,” Powell told Newsmax. She didn’t provide or elaborate on the evidence. “Hopefully this week we will get it ready to file, and it will be biblical,” Powell asserted, adding that “it’s a massive project to pull this fraud claim together with the evidence that I want to put in.”

President Donald Trump on Friday announced measures that he says will “dramatically lower” the price of prescription drugs for Americans. The first action ends rebates to middlemen in Medicare and passes those rebates to Americans. “Currently, drug companies provide large discounts on the price of prescription medicines, including nearly $40 billion in rebates to Medicare Part D plans last year alone,” Trump said at a press conference on Friday. “Yet often, middlemen stop those discounts from going to the patients.” “Today’s action ends this injustice and requires that these discounts go directly to the people. These are the people that need it,” Trump said, adding that savings could

Much has been written on “the way forward.” There is no need to chew the same material here. This piece is not about the Constitution. We know the power of state legislatures under a literal reading of the Constitution. Whoever is inaugurated as president this January, I will not lose my federal job for stating that the Constitution renders irrelevant the alleged popular vote in any given state. That is just a fact. No one can credibly accuse me of violating my oath to the Constitution and of seeking to overthrow the government. This is also not about evidence. The Democrat national infotainment complex pretends not to know what evidence is.

Homeschooling parents unerringly find the most efficient textbooks. This is only natural if you have to spend all day at a kitchen table teaching children. A decade back, I was startled to find homeschoolers almost unanimous in praising the legendary John Saxon (1923–1996). What was his secret? Saxon, with three advanced degrees in mathematical subjects, flew jet planes in the Air Force, first as a bomber pilot and then as a test pilot. Reaching retirement age, he wasn't certain what to do next. A counselor suggested he teach math at a community college.

Thanks to the dreaded Covid-19, it’s good-bye Thanksgiving and, soon enough, farewell Christmas. And after that, who knows? Having discovered that Americans have lost their spines and are now easily penned inside their homes like two-legged sheep, the petty potentates who rule—not govern, rule—far too many states and municipalities have concluded that we will never fight back, never resist, and never reject their latest whimsical edicts. For proof, look no farther than California, where 41 of the state’s 58 counties have just been returned to most-restricted status, and a statewide curfew is now being bruited in Sacramento.

Remember the weeks before the election, when leading Democrats, voices in the media, and tech moguls warned America to be patient after election day? It might take days, or weeks, or even months, to know the final results of the presidential election, they warned. Now, some Democrats not only want President Trump to leave office, they want him to do so, and be replaced by Joe Biden, immediately. Amazingly, it appears that Trump’s own campaign is now disowning Sidney Powell’s fairly out there claims about German servers and millions of switched votes. And I don’t say that as someone who wouldn’t want to believe it if there was proof, but there was obviously no proof and plenty to the contrary.
