How a Goya boycott led to a 'buycott'

Original Article

First, the Goya Foods boycott turned into a “buycott.” Now the largest Hispanic-owned foods company is finding favorable backlash in the wake of the CEO’s praise for President Trump. Company sales have been “fantastic” and “historic” following the controversy surrounding his positive comments for President Trump in July, according to CEO Robert Unanue. “Our sales went up significantly since the pandemic,” Unanue told FOX Business’ Stuart Varney. “We did well because the restaurant business declined 70% but we also did well because of the backlash of a boycott to a buycott. We have our traditional customers, we kept them, but we also have new customers.”

Goya products are excellent. Generations of Spanish families have used and will continue to use them. Now the rest of the country is being introduced to them. Si es Goya tiene que ser bueno-if it is Goya it is good.

I was at Wally World a week ago looking to replenish my Goya ginger beer. No soft drinks at all. I thought they had banned Goya products, then looked down the aisle to see cans of beans still there. Strange.

I love Goya products. We have always used them but are fiercely loyal now. The Sofrito tomato cooking base should be added to everything but an ice cream sundae (and it might be good on that) lol

Well, our WallyWorld has pushed them out. I was in there last week looking for ginger beer. There was none. But still a respectable amount of Goya canned goods. This morning it became apparent that the brand is being banned. Anyone else seen this?

“I have no response.” That was Dementia Joe Biden’s response Friday when he was finally asked about the devastating expose of his son Hunter’s emails and so much more. Those revelations included the crack-addled Hunter whining to one of his daughters that he has to pay 50% of all the cash he collects to “Pop,” and that as part of a shady Chinese deal, the so-called “remuneration package” would include “10 held by H for the Big Guy.” “I have no response,” the Big Guy told a CBS reporter. “It’s another smear campaign, right up your alley.” But he didn’t deny it. Biden — or more precisely, his keepers — haven’t disputed the veracity

A federal appeals court on Friday upheld a Kentucky law that requires abortion clinics to have written agreements with a hospital and ambulance service in case of medical emergencies. The 2-1 ruling from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reverses a 2018 district court ruling that found the law, first passed in 1998, violated constitutionally protected due process rights. EMW Women’s Surgical Center first challenged the law in 2017 after a licensing fight with then-Gov. Matt Bevin (R). EMW was the only clinic that provided abortions at the time, and Bevin claimed that it lacked proper transfer agreements and took steps to shut it down.

Should Biden win the presidency, he will be the “second practicing Catholic” to hold that office, the media informs us without irony. Neither John F. Kennedy, with his prodigious womanizing, nor Biden, with his open hostility to Church teaching, justify that label. If anything, Biden has promised not to practice his faith. Like JFK, Biden believes in the strict separation of church and state, though not in the separation of religion from campaigning. Needing to win the Catholic vote, Biden has been playing up his Catholic roots, tattered as they are. As the media puts it, he is seeking the support of “Catholics like himself.”

On April 25, 2019, Joe Biden revealed that America is in the middle of a spiritual civil war. In a speech announcing his candidacy for the 2020 Democratic nomination, Biden identified the seminal event he says inspired him to pick up his metaphorical sword. It was a 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where white supremacists clashed with Antifa members and others over the contentious issue of removing Confederate monuments: [W]e saw Klansmen and white supremacists and neo-Nazis come out in the open, their crazed faces illuminated by torches, veins bulging, and baring the fangs of racism….

Now that some secrets of the Biden family business are no longer secrets, it’s easy to imagine Joe Biden asking the same question Robert Redford asked in the 1972 film “The Candidate.” After winning a Senate race he didn’t expect to win, Redford turns to his handler and wonders: “What do we do now?” That’s the end of the movie, but the story about the Bidens is just beginning. What Joe Biden must do now is start telling the truth. The whole truth. Up to now, the Democrats’ presidential nominee has gotten away with the fiction that he never talked to his son Hunter

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday confirmed that she has not spoken to President Trump for more than a year -- but said working with intermediaries has brought results, and talks don't have to be "person-to-person." Pelosi was asked by MSNBC host Nicole Wallace if, a year after she walked out of a contentious Oct. 16 meeting at the White House and stopped speaking with Trump, if she would be open if Trump ever reached out to “open that channel of conversation.”"Well, it would depend on what the purpose is," Pelosi said. She then suggested that she had in fact been more productive negotiating

Twitter has refused to unlock the New York Post's account since Wednesday unless the outlet deletes six tweets about its reporting on 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, the Post reported. Both the San Francisco-based social media platform and Facebook came under fire this week after the two blocked users from sharing a Post article showing purported communication between 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and an adviser to a Ukrainian energy company. The younger Biden's work in the country while his father was vice president was at the heart of President Trump's impeachment trial earlier this year.

The social media angle of the Hunter Biden email story has nearly taken over public discussion of the piece published in the New York Post, headlined "Smoking-gun email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced Ukrainian businessman to VP dad." Yes, it's true that Twitter and Facebook censorship of the story is outrageous. The social media giants have taken a giant step toward earning new regulations from Washington. But the social media story isn't the big story. The big story is: Did Hunter Biden introduce that Ukrainian businessman to his vice president father? That would be important for two reasons. One, we already know that the corrupt Ukrainian energy

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings that Democrats hoped would thwart Amy Coney Barrett’s path to the Supreme Court instead threaten to squash a greater hope of Senate Democrats: a majority. Cory Booker of New Jersey asked the adoptive mother of two Haitian children, “You condemn white supremacy, correct?” Sen. The increasing brazenness with which the various Big Tech behemoths distort their search algorithms to hide conservative viewpoints, undermine conservatives through “shadow banning” and weaponize the sanctimonious and self-serving “fact-checking” cottage industry to suppress conservative voices has long been clear. The 2017 dismissal of Google engineer James Damore exposed the search giant as an “ideological echo chamber” (Damore’s words) — a company that, incidentally, has a jaw-dropping 87.3 percent share of the US search market. Facebook has outright banned anti-lockdown pages and removed posts supportive of the besieged teenager Kyle Rittenhouse. T

The convergence of law and politics is a common occurrence in Washington. While law is used to ascertain truth, politics is often used to obscure it. That is why the truth is rarely evident in looking at a scandal straight on. Rather it requires peripheral vision or analysis – often what is not evident is what is most enlightening. This most famous example of such reasoning was found in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s story “Silver Blaze,” on Sherlock Holmes’s investigation of the disappearance of a racehorse. The local inspector asked if there was “any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”

In yet another glaring example that today’s Democrat Party is not the same Democrat Party of not all that long ago, Joe Biden pledged on Friday to sign the so-called “Equality Act” — a bill would that force public schools to allow biological boys who identify as transgender girls to compete in girls’ sports. Arguably the biggest sensation to come out of the debacle of a town hall NBC had with President Trump was the so-called “nodding lady.” Positioned directly behind the President’s left shoulder for one of the most widely used camera angles, she was applauded by some and attacked by others for nodding her head and displaying thumbs up in agreement when the President answered many of the attack questions posed to him by Savannah Guthrie. But she wasn’t originally positioned there. Before the town hall began, a Caucasian lady was originally positioned there.
