Trump isn’t likely to shrink from
Supreme Court fight in election year

If you thought the presidential election was already too hot and too nasty, brace yourself. You ain’t seen nothing yet. The mourning for Ruth Bader Ginsburg had barely started when the first political shots were fired. At 7:51 pm, about 15 minutes after news broke of her death, Sen. Chuck Schumer tweeted his demand that “this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”So much for rest in peace. There’s no surprise in Schumer’s position or his desire to get out in front of the issue, but neither carries much weight. The decision about whether to try to fill the court’s vacancy is up to Republicans.

Sorry, Chuckie, we aren't waiting 4+ years to get a new Supreme Court justice -- because that is when we will have a new president.

If the rolls were reversed do you think Schumer would wait. Hell no! What worries me is the RINO's like Romney that will torpedo the nomination.

Worried more about Murkowski and Collins straying off the reservation. Lindsay Graham could go wobbly as well. The dems need to read the Constitution a little closer. Advice and consent is not tied to the election calendar.

The good news is that Mitch is pretty good at this sort of thing. The three RINOs are a lost cause, but if evryone else supports the nominee, Pence is the deciding vote.

Literally with her dying breath she showed us what total disdain she had for the Constitution. Trying to impose her will which she somehow thinks is the will of the Court on the Executive Branch. She said she was going to live into her 90s, well God had other plans.(I thought at the time that hubris is not a good thing) He usually wins these arguments with mere mortals. Too bad Ruth wasn't humble enough to understand that that is what she was,

Anyone who thinks Donald Trump will shrink from a battle has not been paying attention these past four years. By comparison, he makes George Patton look timid. We finally have a republican in the White House that is not committed to playing defense like the Bush family.

And this, my dear Never Trumpers, is precisely why I voted for Donald J Trump. He is up for the fight. Can you imagine what would’ve happened if RGB died at the end of GW Bush’s first term? You know darned well that he would have taken the “gentlemenly” approach, so as to not “sully the office of the president.” You go, Mr. President. Fight for us. Fight for our country. Let’s roll.

That was her dying wish,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Friday.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday evening, she did so with a message for posterity which, for all the history that Ginsburg might have made as a woman on the Supreme Court, was pristine in its self-description of her time on the Court. “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed,” she said. The arrogance of that was par for Ginsburg’s course. Yes, yes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived an interesting life, and yes, yes, she was an accomplished woman. Those things are beside the point.
