More people are leaving California than arriving as the state reels from devastating wildfires that only worsen by the year, power outages, poor air quality, and a burgeoning cost of living. The California dream may be fading as the idyllic oceanfront state sees warming temperatures, burning blazes, challenges in controlling the coronavirus pandemic, and sky-high real estate prices.Monica Gupta Mehta and her husband said that this year’s furious fires that darkened the skies over their Palo Alto home made them consider moving their family elsewhere.'For the first time in 20-something years, the thought crossed our minds: Do we really want to live here?'

It’s a win win for the dims. They get rid of voters they don’t need in a state reliably dim and push them to the other states to vote in dims. I know adult males who support the dims. Old guys. How is it possible?

"Warming temperatures"? As in it gets hot in the summer in the desert out here? Let's not tie the exodus to climate change ok. Let's tie it to the Big 3. Incompetence and mismanagement of the forests, electricity generation, and water resources. Add in a dash of raising taxes across the board, total control of the state by democrats who have run the place into the ground. Catering at all costs to homeless and illegals, and a school system that is brainwashing our kids with sexual and political agendas that are completely unheard of back in the day when I was a school kid. Last but not least is the practice of registering illegals to vote through motor voter rules as well as voter registration when the illegals sign up for welfare benefits at all of the city-county and state offices and websites. I see roadside highway rest areas blocked off and closed for days and weeks at a time, with signs saying "Closed for repairs". Then you notice that there is no one there making any kind of repairs at all. They closed them due to budget cuts. Plain and simple. I am sick of it. But people here in CA are like programmed robots that go vote democrat every time with no regard to anything they are doing to this state. They just accept it as a matter of how life is. Had enough yet? Apparently not.

California was for decades a Republican state. Then the Dust Bowl brought in floods of destitute persons looking for jobs in primarily agricultural work. And the defense industries during the wars brought in union workers looking to make their fortune.
Does anyone question why a state that was happily Republican for those long, long years, would in recent decades turn Democrat due to numbers of registered voters?
I am glad to see those who “came for the weather”, as the article states, bail out and go elsewhere. Many solid Conservatives like us have lived long happy lives in California, managing what they had, taking care of their communities, enjoying our beautiful state for what it is. We really didn’t need numbers flooding in looking for jobs or a handout.
That sounds cold, but it really was pretty nice before they showed up.

Unfortunately, many will bring their 'feelings' and their dayum liberal politics with them to ruin good red states in less than a decade.

#4 you are wrong. The problems are the result of doped up hippies coming in the 1960's. Dodged the draft. Got their worthless degrees from now worthless universities. Entered the "teaching profession", or became "lawyers" and ran for public offices for the many gay, lesbian, free speech, and other bs "communities". They won and run the state for decades.

I realize the civil war settled the idea of a state deciding to secede, but can the other state kick one out?

Re #6, and showing a bit of respect, there are 39 million in California as of 2019. Those doped up hippies were just a tiny fraction and they came much later than the various large liberal influxes that occurred much earlier. Let’s just say I have a longer, wider perspective on what happened here.

Actually there is method to the Democrats' madness in CA. I believe that they are indeed driving out conservatives and many businesses on purpose. And it wasn't because the majority the voters suddenly turned hippy. No it was a diabolically clever and long-game strategy. In essence, they stuffed the ballot box and made sure they wouldn't be stopped.
They opened the border full blast. They enticed millions of Mexicans to come in with benefits that weren't even offered to American citizens, and enabled illegal voting, and despite grumbling from our citizens, they also made sure that the then-powers in the Republican Party got the reward they wanted: very cheap labor resulting in gigantic profits. Thus no resistance. And, Bingo. The "Reconquista Machine" started running on all cylinders.
Now they have an absolute majority in the state legislature, and every single statewide office from Governor on down. They can literally do anything they want to. Anything. And nobody can stop them.
If you think they've been crazy so far, you ain't seen nothing yet. There's no election that is ever going to return California to a legitimate state in the United States of America. It's going to require the Marines and the 82nd Airborne to retake it from the communists.

#10, they can be stopped, dead in their tracks. But the good people of CA will have to hone their marksmanship skills and identify the commies properly before dealing with them. Either that, or buy a lot of tar, feathers and rope and visit each office with 50-100K PO'd citizens.

All part of the plan. They want to have the very rich and the very poor who serve them. Get rid of the middle class and the very rich can have the beaches and national and state parks all to themselves.

It wasn't that long ago, that California was a nice place to visit, but it was too expensive to live there. Now it's not even a nice place to visit.

I left California because the quality of life was getting worse by the day. Drive-by shootings and gang hits are a daily occurrence. My vehicle was broken into several times, vandalized several times and had one armed forced entry and burglary. The following week, the same perps did the same thing across the street and killed the resident. LA has its own particular scent and flavor. You can only see the mountains maybe three months out of the year because the smog is so bad. Whole areas of the city can not be driven through at night. Spanish is more widely spoken than English. The cost of everything is sky-high and there are crowds wherever you go. Throw in wildfires, land slides, flooding and earthquakes.
What's not to love?
I've been saying since the 90s that California would be a beautiful place to live with 30,000,000 fewer residents.

I know its the Daily Mail, hardly a place of journalistic rigor, but a really good reason for california being the way is this. FTA "...Wildfires in California have worsened over the past years, fueled by the warming planet and more severe weather conditions..." While we may think this ridiculous, the majority of californians look at it this way. The fires have no real cause. They just happen because of the way the Earth is. I just went to PA on vacation with a woman whose son is fighting the fires. She was very concerned, but when I said they could have been prevented, she was lost. I lost her on fire fighters lighting controlled fires. They have been so educated in saving water and the environment, they cant see how they destroyed it
