History, we like to say, has a way of playing tricks on all of us. Just as Mayor Ted Wheeler of Portland was blaming President Trump for the murder of a right wing protester in Oregon’s leading city, the New York Times was preparing to stand trial in federal court on a libel complaint brought by — wait for it — Sarah Palin. It could prove illuminating for all those who are recklessly accusing their foes of being a party to violence.
Mrs. Palin, the former governor of Alaska, sued the Times for an editorial suggesting that advertisement put out by a Palin political committee

I seriously doubt she wins. As the author writes, the bar to victory is set terribly high. But I, nonetheless, drool at the possibility and even the reality of now, just a trial makes me near-delerious with the remote chance at a Palin win.

I believe we can agree that the media needs to be taken down a peg or two. Nick Sandmann did a good job and he is not finished, but there is no reason the the NYT should escape their unacceptable behavior regarding this matter. Gov. Palin was treated much like the President but on a much smaller scale. This has to stop. The media have proven themselves to be untrustworthy. They do not even care to be considered unbiased. Their strategy is to take sides with a vengeance. It is shameful and we should not have to accept this kind of behavior from any news outlet.

"A reliable newspaper destroyed". Yeah a reliable, lying, left wing rag best used as a fish wrapper.

This past weekend I cancelled my subscription to the New York Times, which I had read near-daily since I was a child in the 1960s. When asked why by the telephone representative, I said simply, "enough is enough". They never even tried to convince me to stay or offer a lower price. They might as well have called me a "deplorable".

When I was young, I made fun of people who believed what they read in Pravda. Now, I make fun of people who believe what they read in the New York Times.

I remember my father reading the Slimes way back in the 60’s and even then he thought it was a biased rag. And it goes further back than that - the Slimes covered up the forced Ukraine famine and covered for the Bolsheviks.
#4, what took you so long? Or was it a case of keeping your enemies closer?

#6 - you got it, exactly. "Know thine enemy". I have worked behind Enemy Lines all my life (entertainment, journalism, academia), and I wanted to read first-hand,what the Received Wisdom was.

We were Times readers for thirty years, and they were the paper of record. Now................. I wouldn't line a bird cage with the hard copy today, especially after the 16129 project ....but what is worse is that they have developed a presence online and still have influence with misinformed or non-informed readers who think they are "the real deal."

The NY times has has always had a liberal bias, but now it has progressed into an ultra extreme propaganda rag for the totalitarians that now run the Democrat party. The Democrats give lip service to democratic ideals, while they all become millionaires while in office at the expense of the people they claim to serve. Like most of the MSM, they are what Lenin called "useful idiots."

The world would be a better place without the Slimes. May it go the way of Air America soonest. For that matter, may the Denver Post experience a similar fate. Every now and then, I'll browse a copy at the library and its content is mostly Slimes articles that were bought.
I don't know what the answer is to clean up the msm. Is it even possible. Their workforce largely comes from a broken education system in America.

The Slimes has been committing a slow version of suicide, by design I might add, for at least thirty years, probably longer than that when people still didn't suspect what a lying propaganda tool they had become. They need to find a new Dr. Kavorkian to finish the job.

The answer, #12, is to compete with news outlets that tell truth in presenting facts to its readers, viewers and listeners. The key element is truth - the whole truth, not the literal truth that is ultimately a lie. Cut out the rock'em sock'em commentary which is the obvious bias. And present multiple viewpoints on the op-ed side.
The real question today involves economics - how do you profitably sell what many expect for free? Real newsgathering is not cheap.

Food Lion won against ABC and by all rights should own the entire network. But ABC appealed and appealed and with the abundance of liberal judges in our justice system eventually got every dime overturned.
Palin will face the same thing. No matter what the jury says, decades of appeals will eventually get the verdict thrown out.

As a young man in the sixties I read the NY Times in Army basic training on weekends in New Jersey. At nineteen years old I knew it was a liberal lying newspaper like I knew Walter Cronkite was a lying commie back then and I wasn't as politically astute as I am today. I remember the reporting with the 'crosshairs' about Palin I can't believe it took this long but I guess justice moves slowly. I hope Palin wins.

I cancelled my subscription for two reasons: The 1619 Project (their racial nuclear weapon to take out Trump) and, second, their intentional decision to lay aside "traditional standards of journalism" until he was out of office.

The NYT is but one soldier in the army of Cultural Marxism that is about to extinguish Christian Civilization. Secret societies have been trying since the French Revolution. God sent US Donald Trump the Great as the champion of the forgotten people. Vote November 3rd.

The Lyin' Leftist McClatchy newspaper chain is in bankruptcy after years of circling the drain.
May Sandman and Palin help the Lyin' Times along the same path.
The Times..... and most of these other 'struggling' papers could rescue their businesses.... all they have to do is to tell the TRUTH as best they can. The reason that Rush, Hannity, Mark Levin, and the others are so popular is that they Tell the TRUTH as best they can. Each person has a viewpoint, an opinion, and that influences the way they see things. Seldom are two people going to describe an event the same way. But, strive to tell the truth, and there will be an audience. Continue telling blatant LIES and half-Truths, and people leave. The money dries up. The spiral path to Bankruptcy begins.
For the Lyin Slimes, it cannot happen soon enough.

The NY Times is no longer fit to read. But, like the walking dead, it refuses to die. Somebody needs to put it out of its misery.

I have never understood why Lucianne readers keep citing the Times, or why conservative commentators (e.g. Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc.) quote the Times, knowing it is nothing more than left-wing propaganda. Stop reading it so you'll stop quoting it!
