Melania stands out at convention by

It is a telling measure of our mean-spirited culture that the first lady of the United States has been mocked and vilified for daring to redesign the Rose Garden. Whether the design is pleasing or not, it was clear that the media would not be giving Melania Trump the Jill Biden treatment when she spoke to the Republican convention. She has been the least public first lady in decades, and English is not her native language, but the principal sin of this elegant former fashion model is that she’s married to...him.

The Hollywood reaction is telling.I have never in my life seen this kind of vitriol spewing from the mouth of so called humans. The closet thing I can think of is the scene from Exorcist and they are all almost that ugly. Wow they must be truly frightened by this very beautiful and gracious lady, she is the woman who can win the children back. Notice how they respond to her. Another Hollywood analogy the original Wizard of Oz and would be Glinda the Good Witch of the North vs the Wicked witch of the West, and isn't that appropriate, the wicked witches were both from the east and the west. And they are still there fighting for the soul of America. And one of them is actually dead which is also very appropriate, along with the ruby slippers that Melania wears to skewer them, Those heels are like a dagger in the hearts of these evil people.

Melania is the most graceful and classy 1st Lady since Jacqueline Kennedy. She is mostly ignored by the press (which may be a blessing in disguise) and overlooked. She should be the most quoted and visible one of them all. I myself speak Italian and Slavic and if I ever get to meet her I will welcome her with her mother tongue and tell her how proud I am of her and of her family.

Isn't it strange how the left hates the Rose Garden when in fact it is a tribute to our history and she brought back elements from the original like the boxwoods and paid tribute to the likes of JFK and Pope John II as well as WWII vets with the rose choices. The Peace Rose in particular is a spectacularly beautiful rose that I remember as a child in the 50s. The closest thing I can recall to this attack on her is the one they used against Nancy Reagan when she raised the money to replace the china in the White House. These people show their hatred for this nation in every way and have since Reagan saved it from their nasty plans way back then.

Melania is a humble, gracious woman--which Bette Midler is not. Melania is married to a very rich, famous, and powerful man, but she doesn't flaunt it--like Michelle did. Melania is an independent woman, beautiful inside and out--which Hillary never was. But she's also human, like many democrat women have forgotten they are as they spew hatred and vitriol while all the time proclaiming how tolerant and kind they are. We have a keeper here, folks, in our beautiful FLOTUS--at least for another four years! She seems uncomfortable with the limelight, but compassionate beyond words. MAGA!!! KAG!!! TRUMPS 2020 AND BEYOND!!! Melania, I'd love to meet you. When we win in November, the spouse and I will plan our retirement trip to see the People's House--maybe we'll get to meet you!

Pure hate really brings out the worst in people (no surprise re: Joe Lockhart, now at CNN, re: Nicholas Sandeman--he was always a vast leftwing lightweight) but Bette Middler, whom I USED to love, takes the cake re: her comments on multi lingual Melania Trump not being able to speak English. I wouldn't walk across the street to see her for free at this point, and I used to be a big fan and have her cd's et al. (Ever notice, by the way, that Melania Trump has not appeared on a single magazine cover, especially those of the women's magazines I USED to buy or subscribe to..........and Michelle Obama STILL shows up on them regularly. Conservative AND Independent woman notice these things. And stop subscribing or buying.)

The most delicious thing of all is knowing that while Melania is speaking, the dims and all of their Hollywood thumbsuckers are rending their garments and spitting their chardonnay. Every neuron in their brains is screaming out at them that this is the most beautiful first lady ever, that she is dressed to the nines and could have given her speech in five languages. They also see that she can speak without spewing nonsense, losing her temper and covering her chin in spittle. She reeks class. She is both beautiful and just a tad world-weary. She has looked into the pit and she has literally felt others' pain but she does so without losing her essential grit and sweetness and wisdom. She is absolutely everything that they are not and it rips their guts apart. What a night. A moment worth years.

Howard Kurtz's article is much like his Sunday morning TV shows. He presents the truth first and then "averages it" by quoting Soros/MediaMatters/SPLC counter talking points to give the appearance of the Fox News slogan, "Fair and Balanced." That is OK in a sense....let the viewer decide for his or her self. But he conservative point first and then the progressive spin "the last word." Just once I would like the liberal talking point first and the conservative rebuttal last. Trying to average truth and lies doesn't give "fair and balanced" any more than mixing Evian water and horse urine gives marginally acceptable drinking water. A lie leavened by a touch of truth is just a more cleverly deceptive lie. Something I learned traveling is that when you show respect for a country by learning (or even just trying to learn" the language, the natives invariably respect you and treat you well. Melania not only came to our country and learned the language, she seems also to have learned to love and appreciate America. Her speech last night was not only "classy" and beautifully delivered. It had the ring of from-the-heart sincerity. Her accent actually made it more effective. Listeners had to focus a bit more closely and "pay attention" to fully perceive the nuances. Snarky commentators listening just to find something to criticize wouldn't have gotten anything out of it if she had spoken with a perfect americanized version of Winston Churchill's eloquence.

I watched several speakers on C-span last night and I thought Melania's speech was excellent. Her delivery was so natural and I would not be surprised if Mrs. Trump did not write much of the speech herself. It's obvious that she is very involved in her role as First Lady and that she loves our country as much as her husband. She spoke about the current troubles our country is going through, and emphasized how important it is that we stay united as a country if we expect to resolve them. She made me think of a lawn sign I saw last Sunday in a town north of Boston. Only one I ever saw like it. It was professionally done, about 25" x 20" and it was the Preamble of the Constitution, but rather than the word "We" beginning the sentence, the word was set dead center on the sign, and, of course, a bit larger than the other words. It was cream-colored and was written in script. It was well-done, but I thought that was what Melania was telling us in her speech. The only way we are going to resolve our country's problems is be united as one and not divided into groups who are always sparring with each other.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Normalization has proceeded so quickly, Dubai already has a kosher restaurant, and its supermarkets are stocking Israeli agricultural products festooned with Stars of David — a science-fictional sight only a year ago.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man. Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
