Herman Cain, who died Thursday after being hospitalized for coronavirus, was Trump before Trump.
I first met Herman Cain in 2011, when he was running for the Republican nomination for president. He was the Donald Trump candidate before Trump: a successful businessman, a Washington outsider, a larger-than-life personality with an extraordinary story.
In those days the only people who dared run for president were governors or Washington insiders. So when Herman Cain threw his hat into the ring for president, the Washington establishment couldn’t wait to treat it like a joke. What did he know about government? Politics? Elections? Who does he think he is trying to run for president? Sound familiar?

Herman Cain was an intelligent, successful, hard-working, honest, kind and caring human being. He was loved and we will miss him terribly.

Herman Cain.
If ever there was a mere human man who professed truth in his and our life time, Herman Cain was he.

Oh, yes, Herman Cain is surely and sorely missed. He was never the angry, bitter man, holding grudges, unforgiveness. He always brought a smile to my face; and laughter to us. We never saw a bit of bitterness in his character or approach to life and interpersonal relations. On political issues he was such a clear thinker... perhaps that was the mathematician in him! He loved people, you could see it!
A couple of weeks ago I started trying to find out how Mr. Cain was doing because we hadn't heard a word since he was admitted to a hospital. Knowing he had covid, was an "older" gentleman, and that he had survived a very serious battle with cancer, we were really worried. And then I read that he was doing better EXCEPT that they needed to "strengthen his lungs" I was scared. We had of course been praying for healing. God chose to take him home.
Good-bye, dear man.

KT is one of my favorites, so it stands to reason she would love Herman like we do. I am gutted, as the Brits say, by his passing. What a wonderful, good man.
2020 sucks, man...Ravi Zacharias, Charlie Daniels, and now Herman Cain. The world is a lesser place without them.

He seemed hale and energetic. Did he have comorbidities that hastened his end?
Because he didn't seem the type to be brought down by the chinese flu.

@#7 I heard on the news yesterday that his cancer had returned to his liver. Mr. Cain should have been our first black president. Plus, he was never without a smile on his face. Have you ever seen a democrat smile? I haven't.

With everything that's been going on lately, this was the worse blow of all. Cain to me was the best of the best of all the contenders for 2012. I always enjoyed his happy demeanor and hearing what he had to say...especially his 999 idea for the economy. He was brilliant on many levels. Herman Cain will be missed and not forgotten. RIP our friend.

I just heard that Lloyd Marcus died a week ago today. As my friend said, that’s 3 in a week: Mike Adams, Herman Cain & now Lloyd Marcus. May God rest their souls.

FTA - "His straightforward style, booming voice and infectious optimism made him a natural."
What a crying shame the country could not have benefitted from Mr. Cain's talents at the time. Rest in Peace, sir. We know you are still smiling upon us. Since you are now a lot closer to God than we are, would you mind saying a few more prayers for the President and us. We could use it.

Herman Cain did more to benefit this country then all the John Lewis's in the world.

This is so very sad and heart breaking. Cain was one of my top favorite public figures. He was kind, classy, and intelligent; didn't have to grab the spotlight because he was already accomplished. He was so good natured in a culture of bitter and vulgar people; always great to listen to....and an awesome example to young people. It's a great loss; he was still young. RIP

Herman Cain, a man of pure joy and intelligence. We are greater for having had you among us and we grieve with your family. God grant them peace and consolation.
You, rest in Eternal Peace. Heaven is a better because of you. You ran the race well and helped so many people along the way. You have earned the crown of eternal joy.

Yes, even God must be rejoicing to have Herman join him in that 'better place'. Herman Cain was 'everything good' all wrapped up in one human being. Not having much extra money - ever - I very sparingly give to those candidates whom I adore and trust from afar. I remember donating to Herman's campaign way back when; just had to do it. This year I gave to Burgess Owens' campaign - for the same reason. Side note: My race? Caucasian.

Humor, intelligence, honesty and wisdom. Otherwise, even democrats would have liked him. I wonder if hydroxychloroquine was tried or offered to him, or if a “comorbidity” did the job.

At my age.... I can call him a darling man.... political correctness aside...he was the genuine article... he never asked for special treatment because he was black... he was an American and proud of it...I will light a candle for him at Mass and ask God to guide him to a special spot for heroes.....

tragedy. Lloyd Marcus and Herman Cain are no longer bothered by the stupidity of the situation(s) going on in our country today. Each man will be sorely missed.

RIP Herman. Take a note Shucky Ducky: We are going to miss that man.
He should have been the first black president instead of that other loser.
Three Republicans gone in a month, yet Nasty Nancy, RBG and the Klinton's live on.
