The Yankees and Nationals knelt in unison before the first game of the season just days after Donald Trump said the game was 'over' for him when players took a knee. Players from both clubs knelt during the opening day ceremony Thursday night, which featured several references to the ongoing civil rights movement that was triggered by the Memorial Day 'murder' of George Floyd in Minneapolis.(Snip) In a poignant reference to the racial reckoning happening in the US, players and other members of both teams held a long black ribbon while standing spaced out along the two foul lines. After they placed the ribbon

A friend who has been a lifelong major league baseball fan (used to go to spring trainings every year on vacation) just announced that he is DONE with baseball. In a sport that even before the pandemic was losing customers (young folks are just not big fans), this was a pretty stupid move that will even further reduce their revenues.

Is MLB getting any deficit spending borrowed money from the federal government (poor sap taxpayers)? I want my money back--now!

MLB - your PR is as good as Fauci's first pitch, i.e., wild of the plate.
And your announcers don't know when to shut up, they get paid by the word?
You lost a longtime fan with your recent actions, DVR has been erased of all MLB.
I STAND with President Trump

We are seeing the remains of the used-to-be the proud New York Yankees. It's difficult to imaging the Yankees will ever again be viewed with such fondness or their fans' pride of association. They have forever lost their former greatness.

They knelt....in an EMPTY stadium. If it were full, what might the crowd's reaction have been? I would have walked out.

I stand for the Flag, I kneel for God...nothing or no one else...the Cincinnati Reds pulled a 'capernick' and they as well as NFL are now dead to me...the opener is today and I don't think they will be playing to anyone in the stands...and hopefully no one on the boob tube...

As entertaining as sports can be I will never spend a nickel to watch these entertainers disrespect my legally adopted country, flag and anthem. They can all go to hell in a handbasket and live off their millions.
My sport of choice is formula one racing. Lewis Hamilton, 6 time world champion, the only black driver in the sport. Born in England, living in Monaco is kneeling with BLM all over him. He's a 6 time champion because he's the fastest. Nobody is giving him a 5 second advantage because he's black.

It is not an "ongoing civil rights movement". It is a treasonous attempt to take over the government by force.

I also stand with President Trump. Every Republican President did stand for the anthem. My guess is Trump has picked up a lot of (former) sports fan.

As a retired audio mixer for televsion and radio broadcasts over many years, the only reason I was there is because I was paid to be there. We were fed a decent meal, not the crap they sell to the people who paid big bcks for parking and food.

I wish all of these team management and players would go on line and read what exactly BLM means.
Do they really want to kneel for Marxism? Or Baal? Same difference.
Stand for the flag.
Kneel only to God.

Hey, why don't they just play the whole game on their knees? Since EVERYONE'S now on their knees, the amount of TIME spent taking the knee should be an important factor for us to consider. Taking the knee for less than a minute lacks the passion and fervor of those taking the knee for 5 or 10 minutes. So I say play the whole darn game on your knees. Go ahead, you fools! Any remaining fans will think you're wonderful people being on your knees for the whole game especially if it goes into extra innings.
OK, the wind-up might be a little hard while on your knees, but infielders and outfielders can crawl around the field for the rest of the game, no prob. Some say the game crawls anyway, so what's the big deal. Besides, this gives KNEE JERK a whole new meaning.

I hate use the phrase "in my day" but, in my day, we had true patriots playing the game - Rick Monday. Now the entire league is made up of social justice wimps.

There's a speedball/baseball joke in here somewhere, given that George Floyd died of a self-inflicted overdose of a combination of drugs. MLB, meanwhile, aims to repeat this shameful spectacle with the black ribbon and the kneeling at every home opener. If we as a nation had any resolve, we'd "take a knee" in return and not watch any games or buy any merchandise this year.
