Boston’s mayor is in favor of taking down a local statue of President Abraham Lincoln standing before a freed black man, after a petition was launched for its removal, his office says. Mayor Marty Walsh’s office added that the pol wants a community discussion about its future and whether a new statue commemorating the end of slavery should be commissioned to take its place, according to the Boston Globe. The controversial statue, situated in the city’s Park Square, is a replica of the Emancipation Memorial in Washington and shows Lincoln with one hand raised above a kneeling man with broken shackles on his wrists.

"The controversial statue". Really? Only controversial to pansified white liberals who think Elmer Fudd is a threat to their existence.

You try to cut through all the lies and disinformation by telling them that Abe Lincoln was a Republican and the next thing you know... It's hopeless.

The mayor is probably a descendant of John Wilkes Booth.

Is there a call to erect statues honoring John Wilkes Booth, the man who stopped Lincoln from deporting the slaves? Our national history is complex. “I believe it would be better to export them all to some fertile country with a good climate, which they could have to themselves.” Abraham Lincoln, 1865 State of the union speech

Why not just torch the entire city of Boston and grow a forest? Who needs all of the momentos of US history that make Boston such a tourist attraction? Burn it down!

The BLM narrative (seemingly an outgrowth of the Nation of Islam doctrine) has all evils in the history of blacks being caused by whites, and whites causing nothing but evil against blacks. The Lincoln statue, praising him for freeing blacks from slavery, directly contracts that narrative. Which means, of course, that the historical statue must go. Because, of course, the narrative trumps reality when it comes to Truth.
The first comment after a VDH post here today quoted Malcolm X saying that "Our problems will never be solved by the white man." Praising a white man for freeing them simply CANNOT be allowed...

So let’s just keep the left side of the statue which has Lincoln and replace the right side with a statue of Knute Kente shaking Lincoln’s hand.

I gues they don't like the idea that a blacm man is kneeling before Lincoln. What they want is white men kneeling to them, and damned if some fools aren't doing it.

So, those Democrats, who have been trying to destroy Republican Abraham Lincoln's record for 150 years, will finally make him pay for ending slavery.
Democrats still trying to kill Lincoln!

Perhaps they just don’t want anyone to know that it was a Republican who freed the slaves from their Demonrat masters.

The composer, Stephen Foster, was against slavery - his song, My Old Kentucky Home, often sung badly at the Kentucky Derby, was the story about a slave, sold, and separated from his family.
Pittsburgh had a statue of Stephen Foster, a slave sitting at his feet, listening to his music. But there were objections, and the statue was removed and put into storage.
The Taliban must be amused about this statue removal stuff.

How about banning Star Wars? There was a hell of a lot of killing in that movie. An entire planet was "blowed up good" in the opening scenes. Can't have that, right?

Lincoln abolished slavery. Blacks should be holding him up as a hero.
This is proof that all the statue removal isn't just about racism. This is also about erasing America's heritage and history. We have some evil people out there. Its sad to see our leaders side with them, and are too cowardly to stand up to them.

Frederick Douglass gave the dedication oration for the original one in Lincoln Park in Washington.

The speech is a good read as always Douglass goes beyond just thanking Lincoln. It ends with
"Had Abraham Lincoln died from any of the numerous ills to which flesh is heir; had he reached that good old age of which his vigorous constitution and his temperate habits gave promise; had he been permitted to see the end of his great work; had the solemn curtain of death come down but gradually — we should still have been smitten with a heavy grief, and treasured his name lovingly. But dying as he did die, by the red hand of violence, killed, assassinated, taken off without warning, not because of personal hate — for no man who knew Abraham Lincoln could hate him — but because of his fidelity to union and liberty, he is doubly dear to us, and his memory will be precious forever.
Fellow-citizens, I end, as I began, with congratulations. We have done a good work for our race today. In doing honor to the memory of our friend and liberator, we have been doing highest honors to ourselves and those who come after us; we have been fastening ourselves to a name and fame imperishable and immortal; we have also been defending ourselves from a blighting scandal. When now it shall be said that the colored man is soulless, that he has no appreciation of benefits or benefactors; when the foul reproach of ingratitude is hurled at us, and it is attempted to scourge us beyond the range of human brotherhood, we may calmly point to the monument we have this day erected to the memory of Abraham Lincoln."
But I guess Frederick Douglass will also have to be disappeared down the memory hole, a victim of "presentism" history for not being sufficiently "woke" those 146 years ago

The Marxists built a modern BLACK identity based on their proud status of having been slaves, as we're reminded without cease, and yet any reminder that some unknown ancestors from 150 years ago were slaves triggers painful cries of anguish from The Community. Abraham Lincoln, for his part, in no way believed in equality of the races, and wanted to deport the freedmen out of the USA after his bloody war was done. Hardly an emancipator and if Robert E. Lee must go, then so must Lincoln and Washington and Jefferson.
