A Texas salon owner was given seven days in jail on Tuesday after she refused to apologize for defying coronavirus related restrictions by remaining open for business. Dallas business owner Shelley Luther was given a choice: She could offer an apology for selfishness, pay a fine and shutdown until Friday, or serve jail time. "I have to disagree with you, sir, when you say that I'm selfish because feeding my kids is not selfish," she told the judge. "I have hairstylists that are going hungry because they would rather feed their kids. So sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed, then please go ahead

These officials sure love their power, don't they? This is a gutsy woman.

This judge is enhancing his resume for his application for the district Marxist Communist commissar when the Marxist Communists democrats convince an overwhelming majority of the people to vote themselves into slavery. "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin 1706—1790 Letter to Josiah Quincy Sept. 11, 1773 "There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpation."  - President James Madison 1751—1836   "The natural progress of things is for government to gain ground and for liberty to yield." - President Thomas Jefferson 1743—1826

Let's see. I'm going to play the race card as the democrat party does in a similar situation could be reversed. An African american judge who is an Obama loyalist sentenced a white women who opened her business to feed her starving children during the lockdown in Dallas. This African american judge wanted to intimidate this white mother by making her apologize before him. When she refused, because her poor white children needed to be fed, he sentenced to 7 days in jail with a monetary fine. Question is, would this African american judge would have done this to an African american mother in the same circumstance??? I'm taking this from the democrat play book.

To prompt her to apologize for “selfishness,” then basically fine her and take away what she earned is simply political, and it is abject foolishness. The judge is apparently partial and should be held to account.

I went on the web and found the following: The judge in question is in District 14. His name is Judge Moye. He is a Democrat. The judge is elected to a four year term. He was elected in 2016 so he is up for re-election Nov 3, 2020. I certainly hope the good citizens of District 14 vote this heartless jerk out and send him packing. When I find out who his Republican opponent is I am sending money to that candidate to help defeat this twerp.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, when we honor the sacrifice of the men and women who died for our country. (Snip) One thing has been consistently true, though: The elderly have been the most vulnerable to this disease. Reason would suggest, in that case, that instead of focusing enforcement attention on closing parks and beaches and arrests of lone surfers or churchgoers sitting in their closed window cars, attention should be paid to those institutions which house in close quarters the aged and infirm. Apparently, however, Democratic governors live in a post-rational world.

There are so many angles to the FBI-Michael Flynn imbroglio, and most have been covered in great depth across a divergent set of viewpoints. But one aspect that has not been covered, and that opens up a wider lens into FBI policy, is the fact that the FBI refuses to audiotape, much less videotape, interviews of witnesses or suspects such as Flynn. That policy is counterproductive and makes no sense in 2020. The FBI needs to take itself out of the J. Edgar Hoover era and align itself with modern law enforcement best practices.

Governments around the world say they are following ‘The Science’ with their draconian measures to stem the spread of the virus. But the science around Covid-19 is bitterly contested. Many experts have serious doubts about the effectiveness of the measures, and argue that our outsized fears of Covid-19 are not justified. In August 1884, Washington Gladden, possibly the most famous Christian preacher in the America of his day, wrote an article in The Century Magazine on “Three Dangers” besetting the welfare of the nation he loved. (Snip) But it is the second of the three dangers that I will discuss here, “those unsocial forces that make war upon society by assaulting the family.” Gladden was a liberal churchman, one of the fathers of the Social Gospel, and it is as such that he speaks. “The monogamous family,” he says, “formed by the union of one woman with one man, and by the increase of children born to them, is the structural unit

The coronavirus crisis is reaping big political benefits for Democrats. President Trump’s signature achievement—a booming economy with record low unemployment, rising middle-class wages, and a sky-high stock market—lies in tatters. At least 33 million Americans abruptly and without warning are out of work. Second-quarter gross domestic product estimates are horrifying, a double-digit dive that the country has never experienced even in the direst economic times. (Snip) And the Centers for Disease Control is looking more and more like the 2020 version of James Comey’s FBI. The agency that foisted the disastrous experiment of “social distancing” on 330 million unwitting American lab rats continues to inveigh on matters far beyond

My county out here in Krazifornia ostentatiously banned single-use plastic bags back in 2012, to “save the planet” naturally. So I whooped a whoop of joy through my mask when the local grocery store bagged my haul in plastic bags over the weekend. My guess is plastic bags will be back for good. The aftermath of the virus crisis is going to change a lot of things—a process I’m calling “The Great Reset.” A lot of bad things are going to happen. A number of businesses have closed down for good already. Many others are going to shrink.

DURING this entire epidemic, and the response to it, there is a growing tension between front-line doctors and scientific researchers, between people who must use and master numbers in their jobs and university statisticians and modelers, and between the public in general and its credentialed experts. In a nutshell, the divide reflects the ancient opposition between empiricism and abstraction — or more charitably common sense and practical application versus scientific knowledge. When the two are combined and balanced, then knowledge advances. When they are not, both are deprived of the wisdom of the other. Unfortunately, in the present crisis, we have listened more to the university modeler than to a numbers-crunching accountant.
