The letter was heartbreaking as it recounted the death of an 88-year-old woman in a New York nursing home. But it was also angry and accurate about a strange New York policy that is fatally wrongheaded. “I am wondering who will hold Gov. Cuomo accountable for the deaths of so many older people due to his reckless decision to place covid19 patients in nursing and rehabilitation homes,” the letter began. “I am writing as a daughter who lost her beautiful 88 year old mother who was receiving physical therapy at one such facility.”

I always wondered why the homeless and even criminals, at least in California cities and possibly in NYC, were placed in hotel rooms while the elderly were left in nursing homes. Why weren't the elderly put in the hotel rooms and provided with home health care? That would seem to have made a lot more sense.

Oh yeah, and Cuomo is on deck for coronavirus coronation and the DNC's up-and-comer after sundown Joe. I know because the MSM, leftists and the neverTrumpers (but I repeat myself) have told me so.

If there was a shelter in place again, I would be hauling my parent out of nursing care- and provide in home care at my home. Period.
The Reason for shelter in place is protection of vulnerable and frail.. Cuomo hurt and endangered that population.

I would like to see Governor Cuomo asked this question: Governor would you put your mother into a nursing home with seniors that have tested positive for Corona Virus? If not, can you please explain why you think your administration policy on nursing homes is following your stated position to protect the most vulnerable?

I would like to see the percentage, overall, of deaths in nursing homes or other confined spaces. I would bet it is substantial. It seems rather obvious that the virus spreads by close and likely prolonged contact with someone who is infected. People probably aren't getting sick from touching groceries or doorknobs. As for the nursing homes, there should be testing of everyone and the sick need to be removed to a hospital or other place where they can be treated in isolation. I see a lot of lawsuits coming out of this.

I thought I heard him answer the question of why former virus patients were returned to nursing homes. He said, "I don't know!" If he thinks PDT should know everything about every place in the United States, he should know about everything happening in his state.

#5, in New Jersey I believe the deaths from nursing homes is about 40% of the total.

Sorry, but I've had enough of sad letters written by grief stricken survivors or "overworked heathcare workers", very few ever identified. Propaganda comes from all sides from all directions...all meant to mislead.

This was an unbelievable error.
“Nursing homes” - usuallly called “convalescent care” here in Southern California - are often used by post-surgery patients when physical therapy is needed before they go home. My surgeon gave me an option - convalescent facility or home with visiting PT. I chose the latter because I had help at home. Those who do not, end up in convalescent care facilities. They are more accurately called skilled nursing facilities and they are not just for the aged.

I read in another article that the NY seniors that tested positive in the hospital were transported back to the nursing home and were accompanied with body bags. In essences, they were sent back to the nursing home to die. What happened to Cuomo saying, "Every life counts". This is criminal.

If readers haven't figured out what is wrong with cuomo, think INCOMPETENT and IGNORANT;
actually, FOOL covers all his shortcomings. It runs in his family.

It's OK to release prisoners to prevent spread of virus in the jails but don't do anything about the nursing homes for the aged. That's the way to manage things? What the hell is wrong with people?

#13 nails it. Ideology is in charge here.
I heard Goodwin say on Tucker Carlson that the nursing home wasn't warned, trained or prepared, and couldn't even asked if incoming had been tested for the virus.
Carlson said, correctly, that not being allowed to inquire is the tell, that ideology is valued over health.
