This is Hudson, our 23-month-old. Hudson is our baby with Down syndrome. He’s already beat transient leukemia and he’s already had open-heart surgery. We will do all we need to for this little guy, even practice social distancing from his daddy (CJ is a CRNA and works in a hospital with COVID-19 cases). Together, we will protect our children, despite the time needed. We pray daily that it’s not too long, we need daddy home with us and safe. This photo was taken on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day. Hudson was standing for his dad for the first time all by himself. Thanks for all you do!

Actually, the image of the maintenance man who’s kidney cancer surgery has been canceled due to the virus highlights the absurdity of it all. That reminds me of a conversation I had with surgeon friend this week. He cannot perform surgeries or see his patients and has not been called up to help on the “frontlines” because the hospitals don’t actually need him. The same is true for other doctor and nurse friends, all specialists. They go in, sit, and leave early. It doesn’t make sense.

#3 - I've been noticing that there are never any reports about how many hospital beds are being used and how many unused, both in the hot spots or across the country. We've been told that the Javits Center has been turned into a hospital but we aren't told how many are being treated there or how many doctors and nurses are treating them. These are our people, always hopeful because of their belief in God and American ideals. And we are all under attack by those "experts" who have been ruling us since the end of WWII. There seems to be ever more evidence that this event, whether purposely released or accidental on the part of China, has been the globalists final putsch against the nationalist movements represented by Trump, Boris Johnson and Bolsonaro, as well as Hungary and Poland. Our home-grown socialist/communists' actions are being replicated in these other countries and across the world. This is bigger than what is happening in the USA. The globalists have been dreaming of cratering the world economy for over a hundred years and their time is now. I trust President Trump is navigating this world-wide crisis of freedom with all his tremendous talents. I also believe that he is most blessed by God. Our duty is to pray, unceasingly, and do our best to help our neighbor. We also must be on alert. We do not know what we will be called to do.

Lovely tributes to our caring for each other. What a bummer that the slides did not work as intended. I had to restart it 4 times to see all of it. It would stop if I tried to read the comments beneath each picture. (Wonder if there is a great way to make it work?)

Maine's Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols has a strong message for the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills, who issued "stay-at-home" orders with threats of police punishment if not followed. Sheriff Nichols issued a statement on the Franklin County Facebook page saying in no uncertain terms he will not follow the unconstitutional order. "We will not be setting up a Police State. PERIOD," he wrote. "The Sheriff’s Office will not purposefully go out and stop vehicles because they are on the road or stop and ask why people are out and about. To do so puts our officers at risk.

I imagine there are some people who love New York City more than I do, but I do love it. I love it with fervor of the convert. A Philadelphian by birth, for 20 years I have now walked the storied steel canyons of the world’s current capital. There’s a reason the United Nations meets here, why artists and would-be stock barons alike come here. Now we are in the grip of the coronavirus, locked down. But our peril must not mean that the nation we represent must be destroyed. I had occasion this week, as the virus ground us all to a stop, to talk to a friend in Indiana.

One persistent prediction arising from our pandemic house arrest is that we’ll have a baby boom in nine months. There are good reasons to doubt this. Sure, people are going to do things to pass the time. Makin’ whoopee is one of those things and, all things being equal, more sex means more babies. We should see a slight uptick in births from this national downtime. Yet the increase in babies will likely be a slight uptick only. Before coronavirus measures cratered the U.S. economy, Americans were doing extraordinarily well. The stock market was going gangbusters. We were about as close to full employment is it is possible to get.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, they say, though when Mayor Bill de Blasio is on hand, the other end of the animal is usually involved. Gotham’s chief executive this week might have accepted with some grace an offer of assistance from a crisis-tested, and devoutly Christian, emergency-relief organization — but he gave it the fisheye instead. It seems that in Blasville, evangelical Christians armed with tons of the sophisticated medical equipment so sorely lacking in the city right now, plus the expertise to use it, are presumptively suspect. And are perhaps to be expelled.

A family of five in Odessa, Missouri, had its faith in small-town America restored after losing everything Sunday in a house fire, amid the already stressful coronavirus outbreak. The Villegas family's house burned down, but the community, which is on a stay-at-home order with 20 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in their county, immediately rallied to help out in a big way. "Our home was still on fire when our neighbors first came over and offered shoes and coats," Marilyn Villegas, a service-connected disabled veteran, told Fox News. "This was a blessing because none of us had any shoes on or sweatshirts."

CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta was widely blasted for interrupting Dr. Deborah Birx during Friday's coronavirus briefing to attack President Trump. Birx took a moment at the podium to address the "who knew what when" concerns and said all the countries affected by the pandemic can "look back" to develop a timeline but not while "in the middle" of the crisis. "We can talk about why didn't Italy do something or Spain do something or Germany do something, or we can really say right now -- we all can do something," Dr. Birx explained.

The decision of American Navy to relieve the captain who warned publicly of coronavirus on his nuclear-powered aircraft carrier strikes us as the right move. We get that it’s a sad setback for an officer in an incredible command. The minute we read the captain’s letter about the crisis on United States Ship Theodore Roosevelt, though, we saw it as a breach on a matter that should have been kept within the chain of command. That’s easy to say, we understand, for a newspaper whose landlubber of an editor can’t go to Jones Beach without getting seasick. The team is back in action. On Thursday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the creation of the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis. The new panel will have the authority to investigate any aspect of the virus emergency and the Trump administration's handling of it. Pelosi's announcement came a day after House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff called for a 9/11-style independent commission to investigate "mistakes" in the virus response. Shortly after that, Schiff told the Washington Post that in Congress, House Democrats must investigate the Trump administration's handling of virus testing and the government's distribution of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers.

Consider this scenario: A federal lawyer is filling out applications requesting FISA warrants to spy on American citizens who work for a major presidential campaign to determine whether the campaign staffers are collaborating with a foreign power to steal the presidency of the United States. They must know that such a conspiracy, should it be exposed, would be the most explosive in the history of the nation — towering over the piddling criminality of Watergate or the Teapot Dome scandal. And any genuine effort to ferret out criminality and sedition within one of the nation’s major parties — perhaps going a high as the future president himself —

Last week, Philadelphia’s police department reported that criminal activity in the first three months of this year increased by double-digit percentages when compared with the same period in 2019—the most violent year since 2007. So far in 2020, property and violent crimes have spiked by 16 percent and 11 percent, respectively, with the largest increases in retail theft—which skyrocketed 59 percent, after district attorney Larry Krasner announced that his office wouldn’t prosecute that crime—and other serious violent offenses, such as aggravated assault, up by 20 percent. Though the Philadelphia Inquirer has tried to downplay the spike in crime, statistics show that, even as the Covid-19 pandemic unfolds,

Most of West Antarctica and large areas of East Antarctica were once covered in rainforest, scientists say. Today’s icy wasteland would’ve once played host to huge amounts of plant-life – during an unusually toasty period in history 90 million years ago. Evidence for the rainforest suggests the climate was “exceptionally warm.” The rainforest dates back to the mid-Cretaceous when sea levels were around 550 feet higher.

Anthony Fauci, the medical professional at the eye of the coronavirus storm, has just come out and said the federal government should issue a national order for all Americans to stay home, stay inside, stay put. Is he nuts? Let’s rephrase: He’s nuts. On CNN, Fauci was asked by host Anderson Cooper, “Knowing the science, does it make sense to you that some states are still not issuing stay-at-home orders? I mean, whether there should be a federally mandated directive for that or not, I guess that’s more of a political question, but just scientifically, doesn’t everybody have to be on the same page with this stuff?” And Fauci said — yep.

U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review of the Russia investigation is putting increased scrutiny on former CIA Director John Brennan, searching for any undue influence he may have had during 2017’s intelligence community assessment of Russian interference. Durham, selected by Attorney General William Barr last year to lead this inquiry, drove to Washington, D.C., in March to ensure the investigation stayed on track during the coronavirus outbreak. The top Connecticut federal prosecutor is looking into highly sensitive issues, including whether Brennan took politicized actions to pressure the rest of the intelligence community to match his conclusions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motivations, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.

The bombshell decision by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to lay down their royal duties and move to Los Angeles unsurprisingly inflicted some additional security costs, and according to the US president’s recent Twitter rant, he was not about to pay for the couple’s protection in their newly found home. Charles could reportedly cover half of his son Prince Harry’s and his wife Meghan Markle’s security costs in the US, a royal insider told the Daily Mail. The Prince of Wales, who has just recovered from coronavirus, would pay a “private contribution” of up to £2 million ($2,5 million) every year

We are living through an extraordinary and unprecedented time. It has required us to readjust our lives, our expectations and our plans. The business of politics is no exception. There's been a lot written over these last few days that this upending of normalcy is taking a toll on former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign. After all, in a non-COVID19 world, Biden would be having a great few weeks. Since his big win in South Carolina, Biden had been on a rout — winning big states and small, and building an insurmountable delegate lead. The political news media would be focused on his success.

Surely, Chuck Todd would be proud of that question.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) certainly has a way of rewriting history. Pelosi appeared on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell today with Mitchell about a Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that impeachment may have slowed down the federal response to the Wuhan coronavirus. It’s a good question because Democrats have prioritized their quest to get the president any way they can since he was elected and they have never counted the cost of that effort. While Trump responded immediately in January, Democrats were completely focused on their continuing narrative against Trump. The virus to them was just another avenue to try to attack Trump,
