Trump tears into media at coronavirus briefing:
They want economy to stay closed, 'would
like to see me do poorly in the election'

President Trump doubled down Wednesday on his assertion that the media wants to keep the country closed in order to prevent his reelection during his daily coronavirus briefing at the White House. After Trump had earlier slammed the "LameStream Media" on Twitter, CBS News correspondent Paula Reid asked the president if his recently announced goal of reopening the economy by Easter was solely a political strategy. "You've tweeted earlier linking the closing of the country to your election success in November. Is this Easter timeline based on your political interests?" Reid asked.

I despise CBS. Throw in CNN and AT&T that should put a stop to it, but instead applauds it. Then throw in Comcast, who hides, but obviously endorses everything MSDNC broadcasts.

I watched both Bush Presidents cower to the Democrat media mob, and it got him nowhere. I had hoped to live long enough to see a Republican that wasn't committed to playing defense all of the time. Donald Trump is my man! We need him around for four more years because there are still a lot of swamp creatures inside the beltway.

Given the demonrat pork stuffed into the coronavirus bill, who in their right mind wants to see that $2T still in the budget forever more like the demonrats did in Piglousi's $1T stimulus for their cronies. If demonrats get in charge, that $2T will be considered peanuts.

You can beat them, President Trump, and we are behind you. The more people are shut in, the more they will support you. That and your handling of this manufactured crisis is why your poll numbers are in the 60s and rising. Americans want to get back to work and to life.

The New York Times reports nearly 12.2 million people watched Trump’s briefing on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, according to Nielsen — plus millions more on streaming sites, and local news networks. That puts him in the same ratings territory as Monday Night Football, typically the most popular program for a Monday. Millions of Americans have made the president’s daily briefings must-watch television since the coronavirus hit, especially since many of them are in quarantine.

The question of “Where is Joe Biden?” undoubtedly echoed through the halls of the Obama White House for eight years. That’s a popular question in politics again — though for entirely different reasons.Sometimes, Barack Obama would deliberately hide Biden in an effort to avoid any embarrassment during high-stakes negotiations, such as the 2013 government shutdown. That year, the executive branch's top diplomat to the Senate was seemingly missing for 16 days.“Maybe we need to get Joe Biden out of the witness protection program,” said Sen. Dr. Deborah Birx on Thursday provided encouraging coronavirus numbers suggesting that some of the predictive models were incorrect.“There’s no model right now, no reality on the ground, where we can see that 60-70 percent of Americans are going to get infected in the next 10-12 weeks,” she said. Without specifically naming the Imperial College, Brix referred to models that predicted there could be 500,000 coronavirus deaths in the United Kingdom and 2.2 million deaths in the United States. The scientist of the model revised the estimate of deaths in the United Kingdom to be roughly 20,000 people or fewer.

Ferguson’s model projected 2.2 million dead people in the United States and 500,000 in the U.K. from COVID-19 if no action were taken to slow the virus and blunt its curve. President Trump pushed back at CBS reporter Paula Reid on Wednesday when she pushed the usual "nonpartisan experts say you're all wrong" line on him. After the live briefing, CNN host Wolf Blitzer turned to in-house analysts Daniel Dale -- the "fact checker" -- and Gloria Borger. Dale didn't check any facts, lamely noticing that Trump can't have any rallies, but he repeats his catch phrases like "big beautiful wall." Thanks, genius. Then Wolf Blitzer turned to Borger to lament the attack on those Nonpartisan Journalists. (Video)

The White House criticized Wednesday the Seattle-area NPR station’s recent decision to stop airing the coronavirus task force press briefings. “It’s not surprising, but also a failure of their duty to the American people, that some media outlets would choose to block their audiences from receiving accurate, up-to-date information on President Trump’s whole-of-government approach to slowing the spread of COVID-19,” White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere told Daily Caller. (snip) KUOW, the NPR station broadcasting across Washington’s Puget Sound, announced Tuesday night that they “will not be airing the briefings live due to a pattern of false or misleading information that cannot be fact checked in real time.”

But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago.
