Who is John Galt? In 1957 Ayn Rand published her final novel, Atlas Shrugged. This magnum opus describing her philosophy of “objectivism” sought to call attention to the danger of socialism and communism and demonstrate the virtues of freedom and capitalism. Rand came to America from Russia following the 1917 communist revolution led by Lenin, which destroyed the social norms.Who is John Galt? He is the leader of the resistance to the statists of a dystopian United States. Galt has created the intellectual and emotional genesis for unravelling the suffocating government.

Mr. Warner does a wonderful job of drawing a most appropriate comparison between DJT and Rand's character, John Galt. A great read! Thank you.
Only one thing to add: President Trump is not going to shrug.

Ok, but John Galt wasn't "The Resistance". The sad point, (from an author who would know) is that Socialism is a fatal and incurable disease. Galt stopped enabling the Socialists and prepared for the new beginning. He stepped back and let the disease run its course. That's the opposite of "resistance". I thought Ayn was wrong when the Soviet Union fell and Capitalism marched on... until I saw Bernie's poll numbers with American's under 30 years of age. It's a cancer that is still growing.

The Fountanhead is more readable, shorter, and makes the same point. It changed my life as few books have done.

After reading Atlas Shrugged, I thought someone needed to rewrite it in active voice. A great book, no argument here, but Ayn never said in a 2-3 paragraphs what she couldn't say in 2-3 pages. To be honest, the first ~200 pages were the real eye-opening portion of the book. I think I read it during obama's 2nd year and I could see everything she was talking about laying out in front of us. I kept thinking, "How could they have let themselves get in this condition/position?", then I'd turn the news back on and it was plain as day.
Atlas Shrugged should be required reading for all Americans, but to do so it would have to be rewritten. Most today wouldn't get past half way because of the effort required.

Your “John Galt” is dutifully staying at home and watching his livelihood disintegrate as the gubmint has instructed. The nation has become too ignorant to survive. Still think the “gun nuts” and preppers were crazy?

!Just watched all three movies on Amazon!
Movies 1 and most of 2 accurately portray the disease of socialism/populism/economic-ignorance.
Movies "part of 2" and 3 devolved into self pitying parody as Super character Dagny offers to build a railroad for someone. Herself literally. W/o a workforce. Sure, Dagny. You'll be out there in the hot sun in a China cap driving spikes. Ooooo k.
I'm sorry, but Atlas Shrugged trilogy, whatever else it did, also demonstrated the folly of capitalist elites who imagine they could implement their genius ideas w/o a workforce. They can't.
Whatever well deserved astronomical riches they earn from their talent, they're gonna have to bring a workforce with em to implement. This, they fail to recon.

I believe that there will come a point our society will collapse due to our inability to use common sense, to apply truth coupled with clear logic. The endgame of socialism is death and starvation. Our decline is sure and inevitable and, even with periods of good leadership, irreversible. Just look at the deviant trash we accept as “normal” when forty or fifty years ago, was unthinkable!

'Atlas Shrugged' was originally going to be called 'The Strike'.
Our government has shutdown thousands of businesses and forced millions of workers into unemployment. All in the name of public safety. IT IS UNSUSTAINABLE. If our government doesn't change this in the next few weeks, those jobs and businesses will be lost. Apparently our government (with the exception of Trump) is OK with that. Why? Because they are tyrants and thieves want to control everything. What are they going to do when there is nothing left to steal? They will be lords over a dead society that has broken down and collapsed. People won't freely work for thieves that will take everything away from them. People will go on strike only doing the minimum required to survive. People will only exist as slaves. Thats what they tyrants and thieves want. We will be Venezuela.
This is exactly like Atlas Shrugged. It remains to be seen if Donald Trump is John Galt. Galt stepped aside, stopped supporting the tyrants, thieves, and looters, and let them all sink without a trace. Galt was a destroyer in the end. He refused to support the state. We are all supposed to be patriotic members and slaves of the state solidly supporting them regardless of their actions. We are being told that right now.
Will Trump perpetuate the state or tear it down?

I think Donald Trump is Hank Reardon, before he high-footed it to the Gulch.
