The House easily passed a bipartisan coronavirus aid package early Saturday morning after intense negotiating between Democrats and the Trump administration. The bill passed 363-40, with 40 Republicans voting against it.The “Families First Coronavirus Response Act” would secure free tests for all Americans — even the uninsured — and mandatory two weeks of paid sick leave for those affected by the health crisis. The sweeping package also provides up to three months of paid family and medical leave and strengthened unemployment insurance to brace for workers who could be laid off during the pandemic.

Trump has and is doing what has to be done. We don’t need another pork laden bill.

Be afraid. Why do I have the feeling the cure is worse than the disease.

Once Wuhan created virus passes into the “Why do we have so much TP?” phase, the Dems will push to make these “temporary” benefits and costs permanent on US business. We’ll then have to listen to Dems scream that we shouldn’t have 96% of our antibiotics made in China due to far lower production costs.
As much as I admire Trump, he is addicted to the same deficit spending as most, if not all, of our politicians. We have a $1.3 trillion and increasing federal deficit this year, and no one wants to stop spending more of what we don’t have. As much as Trump wants to put oil back into the ground (Strategic Oil Reserve) that was just pumped out, it costs us money. I realize purchases help frackers, but it does cost us money. Hopefully the reserves will be sold off as oil prices stabilize since we no longer need the Strategic Reserve.

The senate should dump it in the circular file and tell them to come back with a bill minus the abortion spending and all of the other goodies the demonrats threw in there. And PDT should call them out on it before the bill ever gets to the senate.

Fans of Nancy Pelosi will be delighted to learn that she crammed some nasty F-bombs in with the health stuff in this bill. She has promoted more infanticide and abortion money for her peculiar religious practices

The democrat wet dream, free stuff for the dregs of society, passed easily under pressure of a crisis. We have seen this trick before and it is always distasteful.

Never let an opportunity to spend more taxpayers money go to waste. Paid family and medical leave for being laid off. Those of us who pay our own insurance now have to pay for more people who don't/won't have insurance because they don't have a job. What exactly is Medicaid and Medicare for again? No payroll tax cut for workers though. We always get shafted. I'm so tired of today's politicians.

Nobody should be surprised that this bill contains something somebody either likes or dislikes. That's DC politics. But looking at the larger picture, what is achieved by passing this hopefully temporary piece of legislation, is something that will calm the waters and finally get both sides together doing something for the American citizens who have spent the last week panic buying toilet paper hand sanitizer, and whatever they feel they need to hunker down to combat something they see as a threat that cannot be vanquished easily. Certainly the MSM as well as certain web sites are partially responsible for this hysteria with their usual "gotta get the ratings" mindset, and political finger pointing from both sides as to whom the blame rests for the seeming inaction and misinformation released from both sides . But the average citizen sees something that they expect the Federal Government to take a lead role in. What they saw was political finger pointing and bureaucratic malaise that made them think that they were on their own, and thus the herd mentality kicked in. What we now see is a Government that is trying to get it's bureaucratic and political forces on the same page giving some sense of order to something which we have not seen recently. The upside to this is that when this is all said and done neither side will be able to pin the blame on the other for whatever happens because both sides are in it now.

I don’t like the big money thrown around, either but I would like to know what options he had? Remember when some people said they’d rather be safe than free? Well, here we are. I think closing our borders was the best thing to limit exposure to this virus. But shutting down our country is overkill in my opinion.

This is a win-win for politicians. Voters love any bill that places "families first" (unless you're just a fetus waiting to join your family). Weeks now of panic inducement is taking its toll. If CNN announced flying saucers had landed, people would take their toilet paper hordes into the basement and hide amid their tinned food and bottled water. Just more "spread it around" spending that will never be questioned - if the virus has minimal effect it will be because GOVERNMENT took care of it. If the virus leaves corpses stacked along the curb like cordwood waiting for pick-up, it will be lucky more didn't die, and it's all Trump's fault. I would put my money on the former.
Meanwhile, I don't hear anyone telling me to look at my IRA balance these days. Who gets the "credit" now?

I agree with helping the sick, the weak, those unable to take care of themselves, and the poorest. The rest of Americans can take care of themselves and do not need giveaways.
