Amid the partisanship, fear-mongering, and political jousting, what do Americans really need to know about Coronavirus -- which appears to be spreading significantly beyond its initial containment inside the United States? There are relatively few active steps people can take in preparation, though basic steps like frequent hand-washing are sensible. Here's your first piece of good news on this front, via the Wall Street Journal:
Public health experts advise staying calm and following the same precautions recommended for preventing flu or any other respiratory virus. Stick with the basics: Wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes, and stay at home from work

The media and the democrats will pay for the hysteria of this virus. People lost a lot of money on the stock market. Dr. Drew is furious over the media reporting on this and so am I. This is true media over hype. The democrats are using this to try to take down Pres. Trump. Just remember to WASH YOUR HANDS.

So basically, if you are over 80 or immune compromised you have something to worry about.
If you are young and get it, stay away from your grandma until a couple of weeks after you feel better.
And we have yet another reason to be on friendly terms with Israel.
#2 I happen to be traveling to Israel in October too!

allow me to do my cranky old man rant for a bit.
There is too much intimate, close contact. Women hugging women and men, men hugging men and women, even when people don't know each other. There is way too much hugging going on.
the Price is Right did a valentine's day special where they used some sort of dating app to play matchmaker between men and women in the audience. And when the matches were announced, in 3 out of 4 matches, the women jumped onto their male partners, wrapping their legs around their man's waist. And one of the women was in her 50s.
every campaign appearance is bogged down by attendees taking selfie photos with candidates, usually cheek to cheek. Viruses, people! Viruses! and who knows what kind of special virus Peter the Homosexual is carrying.
let us return to the olden days, where men didn't hug men, but shook hands, and men didn't shake hands with women unless the woman extended her hand.
let religions who pass the communion cup for shared drinking of our Lord's blood, stop it! Stop with the sign of peace - a handshake - but some in my faith do hugs - and the Catholics should stop with the hand-holding.
physicians should stop shaking hands with patients, just as they stopped wearing neckties - a source of transmission.
I feel better now.

Totally agree, #4, it's over the top.
Some clown from the WaPo yesterday was all excited over the second person who contracted the virus in California due to living near Travis AFB. He was practically screaming, "See, it's spreading!"

I have two questions that I have not seen addressed:
1. Can this virus be carried by insects, especially mosquitoes?
2. Will Islamics take a vaccine developed in Isreal?

Not to downplay the seriousness of ANY disease, but far, far more people will die during the next year from the Flu, than from the Corona virus. I agree that democrats have, again, overplayed their hand in trying to make it a political issue, rather than a health issue.
I truly believe that the democrats would be fine if many thousands of Americans died from Corona, if it meant they would beat President Trump. Why do I say that? Because of their track record of destroying people (not just Akancide) and their willingness to adopt socialism/communism- which has resulted in more deaths than all wars!

Congratulations to Israel for there rapid response in developing a vaccine. That is also near completion at several labs here in the U.S.
Here's the rub, Clinical Trials. these can take anywhere from 9 to 18 months before a vaccine can be declared safe and effective.
So for now, follow the routine protocols you'd use during any flu outbreak, wash hands, avoid large congregations of people etc.

And I thought the Palestinians would be the first to come up with the cure.

I wish people, like the author of this piece, would not refer to a vaccine as a "cure". Not a big deal, they're both going to the same place, but it does make a difference when we're talking about the various drugs that are currently in the pipeline.

The most vulnerable to this virus are MALES over the age of 64.
It's true from analyzing the Johns Hopkins real-time site ( https://tinyurl.com/uwns6z5 ) that developed countries hold up well to the virus. For 39,000 who recover 3,000 also died. Some people get the virus and it lasts from 20 to 90 days! That alone will overload the hospitals of any country, developed or not. Granted the greatest damage will be to China due to a very high population of elderly, poor sanitation, and lack of proper health care facilities in rural regions, The same can be said for India and most any country in Africa.
