DES MOINES, Iowa—I had not been to a Trump rally since the 2016 campaign. And the first thing I noticed Thursday night when Donald Trump and Mike Pence spoke at Drake University in Des Moines was how much more joyous the event was for his supporters than what I remember from four years ago.In 2016, perhaps because Republicans were out of power and Trump was running purely against the system, his crowds often had an undertone of anger that bordered on menacing. But with Trump in power, presiding over peace and prosperity, on the cusp of beating two articles of impeachment, and dominating the news when it should be

I am enjoying reading columns this morning featuring lefty suffering and twisted rationalizations. This is one of them.

It smells like a Politico piece.
Trump's lawyers have spent several days PROVING that the House has NO valid complaint against Trump. This reporter either has a margle head or couldn't be bothered to listen. Can't have a ranting narrative messed up by reality.

I should have read the comments before wasting my time on that trashy, slimy article.

I thought this was going to be a positive article about Donald Trump but there are more than one misrepresentation of the truth. I stopped reading it.

FTA: "In 2016....his crowds often had an undertone of anger that bordered on menacing." This mendacious, slimy reporter doesn't understand the cold anger has not gone away but is still there and building. It'll only be assuaged by the imprisoning of those vile, evil degenerates that tried to tear down this Republic.

Somehow, I made it to the third paragraph, and when the reporter brought race into the rally, I quit...

Why can’t those stupid Senators see the obvious argument that Trump is guilty of these made up charges. They should be thrown out and replaced by smart Democrats (an oxymoron)! Personally, I liked what Lizza called the “Fifth Avenue” rule. Eat your heart out buddy— four more years and maybe four more on top of that if they try any funny business like a violent revolution, which they are perfectly capable of.

I read it all hoping (should have known better) the writer would have an awakening, but no. Still, I am happy to report the Left clearly is suffering greatly. Trump and his Legion have ripped them apart and they are now lost, wandering in the rubble of their dreams.

The clown author still doesn't get it. Outside of Trump rallies being joyous occasions, the author is completely wrong about why this is. He then goes on stating all the liberal talking points which have all been proven to be false, and his little liberal brain just can't understand why people are so happy. The liberal mind set doesn't allow for happiness unless it's a conservative Republican being destroyed.

Anger because your side was literally attacking any of those who supported Trump? That kind of anger Ryan?? You and your colleagues should be terrified, because a significant portion of the attendance at these rallies now is actually of your own party. They are liking their prosperity under Trump and they are glad he is staying the course on our behalf. The media is going to be shocked this year by the fact that not only are we standing firmly in Trump's corner, but we are fighting back against the lies, smears and fraud committed by democrats, both in office, and in the media.

I confess to have never studied Political Science beyond caring deeply about the 'Ship of State' and simplistic 'Good Governance'. So ......EXCUSE ME....if I ask why is it so effing wrong to take account and see if one's chosen leader's ideas and activities ACTUALLY WORK ?
Only those who want America '...brought down a few pegs...' could ever support the toxic Leftist
ideas promulgated by the Dems.

Re: #13 - Political science is based on empirical data, that as you wisely mention, must be tied to objective, observable measures of effectiveness of the policies and programs under study. What you see driving the democrat media and what passes for democrat leadership is pure political ideology, which has no place in actual political science. Leftists believe things because they want to, not because of any objective data, much less statistically valid analysis. Ideology-driven policies and leadership results in things like the joys of communism and its bedfellows: misery and death, unless the descent into communism is killed early on by a non-compliant populace.

The dems have fired all they got at him.
Now rises from the smoke their doom.
