On Monday, the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration's public charge rule to go into effect, striking down a nationwide injunction from a New York judge. The rule allows the government to deny green cards to immigrants who receive public assistance and are therefore considered a "public charge."
In addition to the 5-4 decision allowing the rule to go into effect, Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch issued a concurring opinion rebuking activist judges and their rush to apply "nationwide injunctions" against Trump administration policies.
"Today the Court (rightly) grants a stay, allowing the government to pursue (for now) its policy everywhere save Illinois.

Excellent! Now if only Her Ladyship would retire, we could get even more done!

And while Roberts sided with the majority on this case, why hasn't he as Chief Justice dealt with the elephant in the room already?

I have come to believe that the lower federal courts' jurisdiction should be restricted to the physical limits of each court's territorial jurisdiction (e.g. courts in one judicial district can only enjoin activity within that jurisdiction). Many federal trial judges are barely able to keep up with that.

One of Trump’s greatest achievements is the success he’s had in appointing judges! We must have 4 more years of it. Judge Thomas has weighed in on this issue as well. One has to believe with conservative and constitutional judges, we can turn from liberal insanity to fairness, order, and the rule of law.

The Democrats impeached President Trump for “abuse of power.” Alan Dershowitz argued that this is too vague a charge to constitute a “hight crime and misdemeanor” and should be dismissed by the Senate. I wonder if instead the Senate should NOT dismiss the charge but instead acquit the President thereby establishing a precedent that it is a valid charge. Then after the election with a Republican House majority we could see many of the rogue judges in the Senate dock. Just a thought.

Good first step....but he hasn't really DONE anything about the problem except talk. Judges who do this should be sanctioned or impeached. SC should set up a process whereby EVERY nation wide injunction gets an immediate review that denies nationwide application unless extenuating circumstances exist and forces them into the typical appeals process w/o nation wide application. THAT would fix the problem.

WOW! Thank You Justice Gorsuch and Thank You President Trump.
I have been wondering WHEN the gauntlet would be thrown down and Justice Gorsuch just slammed it across the lower courts faces. Yes, these are just words. So is all law. However, when the SCOTUS justices say they don't like something, it is a clear message that, the next time they see it, it is going to be tossed out with little consideration. They can even intervene and cancel such overly broad injunctions.
The procedure is for the lower courts to decide for their area of authority and then the parties can choose to carry it on to the SCOTUS for higher and broader impact. Leftist judges, in desperation, are pushing those boundaries and Gorsuch just pushed back, with a bulldozer.

#8, Gorsuch is just one justice. What is he alone expected to do except write about the problem? And haven’t you ever heard the phrase, the pen is mightier than the sword?

Only Clarence Thomas joined in Gorsuch’s concurring opinion. You expert Roberts to be a cowardly squish, but where were Alito and Kavanaugh? Do we only have 2 constitutionalists on the Supreme Court?

Of course we can afford to take on more freeloaders in Illinois because we have led the way in fiscal responsibility which is why so many people are flocking here to share in and enjoy the progressive utopia. I picked a bad day to stop dropping acid.

Our Obama judges only stop President Trump’s actions by the hundreds. This judicial activism was absent when a Kenyan-Indonesian was transforming America.

Justice Gorsuch had diagnosed a terminal illness in our land by showing opposition by liberal groups and Democratic attorneys general. Is there a doctor in the house? Or the Senate? Or in any sensate beings who inhabit our land?

My wife came to this country without a penny to take a job as a nanny. When she entered the country she was told she could not expect any aid for any reason. If she needed aid she would be deported back to her home country. She had a green card.
