New Jersey cops told to

facial-recognition technology

The state attorney general is ordering all New Jersey police to stop using a powerful new facial-recognition technology that’s pulling millions of photos from social media. The order was issued Friday to county prosecutors, concerning a New York-based company called Clearview AI. “Like many people, I was troubled,” state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said about the company’s techniques, which were first reported by The New York Times. Clearview promotes itself as an effective way to track down dangerous people. It takes partial credit for the recent arrests in New Jersey of 19 men who police say tried to lure children for sex.

Comments:

NY was just in the news with this, and now it's NJ. The specious claim is that a state of constant police surveillance keeps us safe from perverts, when the powers that be keep turning dangerous people loose from prison. Same deal with terrorists; stop importing them and leave us be. Retail stores also are using this technology, though they decline to admit it for "competitive reasons" (meaning, they don't want anyone to know).

We wouldn't want to catch any child sex traffickers, would we? If you're not breaking the law, you should have nothing to worry about.Of course, I don't believe in posting pictures of everything I wear, eat or places I visit, which is why I'm not on social media!

I'm curious to learn how much money Facebook made from selling social media pictures. Anyone know? How much money do states make from selling DMV license pictures?

Here is where all of the people addicted to taking selfies and posting them on the web will pay dearly in the future! AI is becoming scary and unmanageable! When programs are designed to write new code, and we can't figure out what they have done...something is terribly wrong! Sorry, I don't see a glass half full with this one! I don't want to go to the airport and have my face scanned into some database for all time! So, I just won't go to any airports! Enjoy your new tech masters of the future! No human interaction or mercy necessary!

The warden in charge when Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell is getting a cushy new supervisor's job at 'Club Fed' despite Attorney General Bill Barr's demand that he be reassigned to a desk job. Lamine N'Diaye is being reassigned to a leadership role at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in Burlington County, New Jersey, two people familiar with the matter said. The move comes months after Barr ordered N'Diaye be reassigned to a desk post at the Bureau of Prisons' regional office in Pennsylvania after Epstein's death as the FBI and the Justice Department's inspector general investigated.

Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate has called out racism in media after she was cropped out of a photo featuring prominent climate activists including Greta Thunberg, Loukina Tille, Luisa Neubauer and Isabelle Axelsson. Nakate made the comment in a video which has since gone viral, adding that she now understood “the definition of the word racism” for the first time in her life. The group had given a news conference in Davos on Friday when Nakate was then cropped out of a published version by the Associated Press, a US news agency. She questioned the removal on Twitter. “Why did you remove me from the photo?

Wade, another SCOTUS decision which, like Dred Scott, declared an entire class of people as less than human.
