The Prisoner of the Vatican

In one of his last speeches before abdicating in 2013, Pope Benedict XVI decried the liberalism that had seeped into the Church after Vatican II. To this liberalism, he traced “so many problems, so much misery, in reality: seminaries closed, convents closed, the liturgy was trivialized.” But he then proceeded to hand the Church to the very liberals responsible for these problems and to a successor set upon liberalizing the Church even more. Not long after assuming power, Jorge Bergoglio took a veiled swipe at his predecessor. He told an interviewer that Vatican II had encouraged openness to “modern culture” but that “very little was done in that direction,”

This whole Benedict XVI resignation thing is an absolute mystery to me (and many Catholics). P. Benedict XVI has been in isolation for 7 years! 7 YEARS! That's 7 years he ought to have been in charge!!! What's going on here? I think that the Riemann Hypothesis will be solved long before we ever figure out what was going on to have P. Benedict XVI do what he did.

There is a story behind the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, but it has never been made public. First guess was he resigned due to health reasons, but he is still alive, so its doubtful his resignation had anything to do with his health. What's going on? The church has been hit with corruption just like every other organization. There is a story here, and its not being told.

Allowing married priests is a slippery slope for the Catholic Church. What comes next? Gay priests? Gay marriage? Married gay priests? While the Catholic Church is much larger than the Episcopal Church the parallels are frightening. The Episcopal church took a step away from the Bible as the word of God, endorsed the homosexual agenda, started blessing gay unions, then elected a gay bishop, and now look where they are: most parishioners are over sixty, 79% of parishioners have no children under 18. Membership has tanked from 3.6 million in 1966 to 1.7 million in 2018. Episcopal confirmations declined 85% between 1966 and 2018 to the now moribund total of a little over 19,000 (over half of whom were adults). It is a church dying on the vine and some observers predict it will be dead in 30 years. It may well be that Francis will start the decline of the Catholic just as Bishop James Pike started the Episcopal Church down the road to ruin.

I have never believed that Benedict resigned. I think he was forced out and given a boatload of threats to keep him quiet.

Late last week Virginia's Democrat Governor Ralph Northam signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency. He did so by claiming white supremacists would take over the annually scheduled Second Amendment lobbying day in Richmond.(Snip for tweets)Northam's friends in the leftist media, who happily brushed his blackface and KKK garb scandal off the airwaves last year, took the "white supremacist" narrative and ran with it. GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba — Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will appear in a Guantanamo Bay courtroom this week, more than 18 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks he is alleged to have masterminded and a year before he will finally face a jury. In the nearly two decades since 19 al Qaeda terrorists crashed hijacked planes into the World Trade Center buildings, the side of the Pentagon, and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people, the five men believed to be responsible have yet to face a trial. The United States government alleges that the plotters carried out a criminal conspiracy in planning and executing

New York magazine’s Ed Kilgore recently offered up yours truly as a prototypical Trump supporter who has ignored the “key lesson from 2016.” Quoting an excerpt from an October article in which I suggested that impeachment enhances Trump’s 2020 prospects when combined with a strong economy and a weak Democratic challenger, he suggested that “triumphalist braying from Trump, his campaign, his party, and his media allies, will persuade some of his own voters that he’s already won, so it’s safe to spend Election Day in other pursuits.” Kilgore obviously believes that such complacency in the HRC camp caused Trump’s 2016 victory. LOS ANGELES – Disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti is accused of stealing money from dozens more clients than previously known, according to newly unsealed documents and recent interviews with Fox News. It’s alleged that Avenatti, currently behind bars awaiting trial in New York on unrelated charges, directed up to $1.3 million in settlement funds – intended for approximately 170 clients – to cover his own expenses. It’s the latest example of alleged malfeasance by the lawyer who was once a fixture on cable news and flirted with a presidential run. “We didn’t receive any of that,” Donald Albaugh, one of Avenatti’s clients, said by phone Monday.

In a newly released impeachment brief, Democratic House managers argue that President Trump must be removed "immediately" to protect the integrity of the current presidential race. "The Senate must use that remedy now to safeguard the 2020 U.S. election," the managers write. "The Senate should immediately remove President Trump from office to prevent further abuses," they continue. "He is an immediate threat to the nation and the rule of law. It is imperative that the Senate convict and remove him from office now." Democrats insist on Trump's immediate removal because, they argue, he was the knowing beneficiary of Russian help in the 2016 election,
