Something tells me they won't be called overzealous movie critics and the cavalry actually is on the way.

At this point, really, what difference does it make?
A LOT of difference, this ain't Benghazi, this ain't Obama, and this ain't some disgruntled locals.
This IS Trump, this Hezbollah, and they WILL pay.

Well, ain't this all crackerjack? Our $750 Million highly-secure embassy invaded, our troops holed up. We need a surge...more boots on the ground...finish the fight...train the Iraqis to defend themselves...and all that. This is after almost two decades of "nation building" still a work in progress.
A great bipartisan legacy brought to Americans by Bush43, Obama and now Trump. When is enough enough?

Aren't the Marines guarding our embassies armed?

Yes, the Marines are armed, BUT, and a big BUT, what are the ROE (Rules of Engagement) in a situation like this...my take is, one of the little shi(*s gets past the gate, take him out...we certainly don't want another Jimmy Carter debacle, but then of course with our current President, that wouldn't happen...A10's and Chinooks with mini-guns would take care of the problem...

IIRC, a nation's embassy is considered "sovereign territory" of the Nation it represents. SO...the sand fleas have invaded the U.S. I think the proper response---so fitting at this time of year!---would be to turn Tehran into something resembling the world's largest ice-rink. Only of glass./s BUT if we want to reduce collateral civilian casualties, the same for ALL their know nuclear sites.

Invasion of an embassy is an act of war since embassies are considered territory of the country whose embassy it is. Nations have the right to defend their sovereign territory. I would have hoped that devices capable of causing mass casualties to invaders, e.g. claymore mines and MetalStorm units, had been installed at strategic spots and choke-points for just such an eventuality as this.

Military response should be within 24 hours to be an effective future deterrent. Waiting........

OK, Mr Trump. It time to send some Middle East ragheads to their maker.
Only this time, make sure there will not be enough virgins to go around.
Our embassies are to be as much sovereign territory as a home in Olathe, Kansas.

Choppers are on their way, bearing 100 Marines. Zippy and Jimmah, this is how it's done.

I never felt safe with locals guarding the main entrances to the embassy. They are first in the line of defense, and they are never successful at stopping a siege or anything else. You can't blame them; in most cases they don't have weapons, and they receive minimal training. The Marines I knew and trusted knew this.

Carter and Obama aren't setting the current Rules of Engagements at our embassies. It is equally troubling that our embassy Marines in Baghdad were not reinforced after military action was recently taken against the Iran-proxy troops, the Iranian version of the VC, operating in Iraq. Is it not common knowledge that muslim jihadis in the ME are quite fond of attacking our embassies?

Is there even such a thing as "Iraqi security personnel"? When it comes to protecting American property, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
