Graffiti is on the express track back into New York’s subway landscape, MTA data obtained by The Post shows. After holding at around 200 markings in stations and on trains per year in the first half of the decade, the number tripled to 619 in 2018, and sits at 537 as of Dec. 18 this year, the figures show.(Snip) Each major hit lightens the MTA’s already scraped-clean pockets, with the agency spending a total $348,000 so far this year to clean the 285 majorly bombed trains, data shows. Sometimes categorized among major hits is political graffiti, which is also on the rise.

That nitwit mayor is to blame for all this. He should be glad the local populace haven't started murdering each other between stations. But keep up those high-intensity workouts, your honor, you're looking good. Can't say as much for your city, however.

Maybe the graffiti artists should write messages critical of the mayor on trains, like in the 1985 classic movie TURK 182

"But sources say graffitists are drawn to the Fresh Pond Yard by relatively easy access through the rear of a nearby tire shop." How about you just fix this access point and hire some security? If you are spending about $350,000 a year to clean up you could use some of that money for prevention instead.

He’s incompetent as a manager. Progressives have screwy ideas.

Two political axioms in play here:
1. Elections have consequences.
2. Voters deserve the politicians they elect
Plus one observation: New York City and State politics is corrupt as hell. No need to mention the party in power.

Rudy had the "Broken Window" policy - de Blasio says "you can see out better when it's broken - don't you like it?"

No respect for your own city. No pride, no care, no nothing. Attacks on cops up too. Crime is up. Democrats set it up, expresses shock and uninvolved, blame republicans for it all and campaign on how wrong it is and that it’s their duty and mission to fix it. Vote for me and we will make it all better by raising taxes and giving out more free money.

I was not aware that it ever went away. But I would put the blame solely on DeBlasio, for he is such an idiot and tyrant that maybe people will finally boot him out of office. You get what you vote for or in your case NYC, when you don't vote in the first place.

DeBlasio is today's version of Emperor Nero-he fiddles while NYC burns. How does a ninny like DeBlasio get to be Mayor? He certainly had the ambition to run and be elected, but in real time he can see what failures his policies are and continue to be-but instead of of fixing them, he is doubling down. Fiddle away, Nero.

It can't be easy bringing in the thousands of cans of spray paint into the city. Or Blasie is helping with this.

Good point, #11. If he can ban large sodas, why doesn’t he ban the sale of spray paint within all five burroughs?

Doesn't the aerosol used in spray paint contribute to MMGW?

Amazing to many that this thoroughly 'un-esteemed' mayor is so proud and anxious to show who and what he is. He appears defiant and proud of his smug incompetence.

I am so tired of seeing trains pass through our small town Georgia area that have been tagged with all kinds of junk. It's ugly. It's not our culture. It's rude. It's vandalism.
It makes me want the county to put up walls around all the train tracks so we don't have to see that junk.
I wonder if we can get a federal subsidy for such walls.

Hew Yorkers get what they deserve. I don't know who tops the poll for arrogant people New York or New Jersey. Oh, add stupid and belligerent, too. I've been to both states twice. Decades ago. Loved seeing the historic sites, but the people can go to Hades. Actually there was a small percentage of nice people, to be honest.

This is not all DeBlasio's fault, although he is the poster child for progressive, liberal, whatever you want to call it, insane policies. But, the NY State Legislature is all Democrat, totally corrupt and totally moronic. The man/child Manhattan DA, Cy Vance, Jr., never met a criminal he didn't like or want to hug. The Soros minded denizens of the City are more than happy to coddle criminals and encourage artful expressions of rage or vandalism by inviting even more graffiti. NYC is well on its way to reprising the destructive days of the 1970s. It illustrates perfectly the example of Republican leadership taking over a dying Democrat run city, putting it back into shape, making it a jewel and then the electorate votes back in the looney left when things are great. It is a cycle that occurs time and again. The next few years in NY State and NYC are going to be very ugly ones indeed.

Lawlessness is the coin of the realm in any Democrat wonderland. Article notes that there have been nearly twice as many anti-Trump "artworks" as there were anti-Obama pieces during the latter's 8 long years in office; the failing fake news peddler NY Daily News will probably blame rising cleanup costs on the stress The Donald inflicts on the Rotten Apple's oppressed minorities.
