Nancy Pelosi, Not Trump, Is

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision not to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial on the pretext that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won’t conduct the trial in a manner approved by House Democrats introduces a novel and dangerous dynamic to the impeachment of President Trump—namely, a constitutional crisis, not between the legislative and executive branches, but between the House and the Senate. Under the Constitution, the House has the sole power of impeachment and the Senate has the sole power of conducting a trial. Although the Constitution doesn’t say the House must go through a formal process of “transmitting” the articles of impeachment to the Senate,

How can this be a crisis? Right now, as far as the Senate should be concerned, nothing happened. If the majority of the House of Representatives decides not to communicate with the Senate, the Senate can't react to silence.

Nanny P once again puts herself center stage. Just as Obamacare was passed (remember, the twists and turns of that fiasco: Ted Kennedy dead, Scotty Brown elected, house 'deemed' passed, you must pass the bill before you can read the bill. This woman has schiff for brains, nourished by regular feedings of Botox. This grandmother would be wise to go home and learn to knit. Staying far, far away from politics. Her daughter might think she's some kind of wonderful whimsy, but, after all, she must say that. She IS family.

I am reminded of the tactics of Senator Joe McCarthy, back in the 1950s. Joe, in his search for communists in America, (with the enthusiastic help of his staff attorney, one Bobby Kennedy(!) would issue a press release, saying that his committee would be in Anytown, USA, next week, to investigate John Smith or Ralph Brown, for possible communist activity. McCarthy would then not pursue the person, nor go to Anytown, USA. The smear was effective.

If I had to guess, with my most devious hat on, I would say Nancy is loading the gun, and holding it to Trump's head (proverbially). Since the articles were so broad, they can apply to anything that might happen at any time in the future when public opinion might shift. Things change in politics, she knows this, knows this is a bad moment, so she now has the "insurance policy" in case things turn. Or in case they can find yet another thing to complain about that sticks *this time*. I can't imagine that happening, but it only has to stick once. Even if she doesn't send them, it will be ammunition for a future attempt. "We didn't send them last time, but on top of *this* new outrage, we must send them." It's all targeting the weaker Senators, if not to convict then to at least get a majority. And there's several hoping to help her along, from *our side*.

Constitutional crisis or not, the optics of this debacle are horrifying. Pelosi is a lunatic. After the way Schiff and Nadler conducted this they lost the American people. Pelosi thinks she can now dictate to the Senate how this pointless trial will be run. I believe they have literally lost their minds.

FTA: "The problem for Pelosi and the Democrats is that they have thrust the nation into uncharted waters..." Excuse me, but... being in uncharted waters is NOT a problem for Pelosi and the Demos. It is EXACTLY where they want to be. They ALWAYS gravitate to iffy grey areas because then they can rely on the media to do their yapping for them 24/7 until the Pubbies weaken and eventually cave in. Davidson also states that "Pelosi hasn’t said what she wants from McConnell---an apology?" Is he suggesting that...maybe-what-she-wants-is-something-so-simple-we-should-give-it-to-her-to-shut-her-up? Perish that thought! Don't even THINK about going there! Asking Pelosi what she wants and then trying to make nice has NEVER worked and NEVER will. Get real.

The results of the impeachment scam are meaningless as long as the strong half of America is out here watching and waiting. The House and Senate can do as they please but both know what is going to happen if they test us. We still have those scary guns and Bibles for guidance. Hint: Attempting to remove the President from office is the clear red line.

I don't think she can hold off sending them that long. Does she want a Senate trial during the primary elections when the senators running for President want to be campaigning? It will also dominate the news and voters in primary states will not be hearing about the candidates. McConnell should just wait this out. She has very little leverage in this situation.

Except for President Trump and a few of his allies, the gov't is disgusting. They get away with lying to the American people and there are no consequences. Innocent lives have been turned upside down and destroyed, again, no consequence. I'm hearing a lot of words but seeing no action. There will be massive voter fraud this next election. The dems have gone crazy and are taking the country down with them. Pelosi is just waiting until she has dirt on enough members of the senate to get their votes to undo the 2016 election. That's when she'll turn over the papers to them and not before.

Put away the law books..."impeachment" is over and done as is. Everyone makes out in this Impeachment Interruptus: The Dem radicals can crow about impeaching the MF; the Dem "moderates" can claim this was a serious act and that the delay is only because the Senate will not hold a "fair trial"; the GOPe House minority hung together "supporting" PDT gaining cred from the grassroots; the UNIPARTY Senate will not hold a trial that would create consternation for those on the take; and PDT has a great rally cudgel for the upcoming election season. This "impeachment" is a win-win-win-win-win.

The left is tearing down everything - Tradition, propriety - destroying all manners of custom and process that developed from trial and error sequences over many decades and centuries. They are doing the same to the culture - destroying concepts of family, appropriate civil behavior and traditions. All in the name of progress. The notion of progress to the reasoned person is wrapped in the notion that it must result in an improvement in the human condition, or it is not worth attempting or continuing. The notion of progress to the leftist 'Progressives' is that change is progress, regardless of whether it is beneficial. Democrats pursue impeachment by these means in spite of the lack of any demonstrable crime because changing impeachment criteria is by their definition progress. If the senate comprised a super majority of Democrats, they would succeed, and no demonstration of an impeachable offense would be required.

I don’t see the “crisis”. Pelosi can hold on to the articles until San Francisco freezes over. No articles, no trial. And every day that passes makes it more and more clear that their complaint has nothing to do with anything Trump did, and everything to do with the fact that they lost the 2016 election.

McConnel should issue a date-certain for the House (Pelosi) to send up the articles, at which time the Senate would dismiss the impeachment, unless the articles were received. Then, the democrats could howl all they want, but they have a choice to make so they better be happy with whatever they choose. Put the hot potato in Pelosi's lap!

I think it would be a grave mistake to assume that what we see on the surface of this issue is all there is to see. There are a wide range of opinions about why she is not sending the articles of impeachment to the senate ranging from PJDT's claim that she has no case, to conjecture that she is buying time to exert pressure on weak senate republicans, to a theory that she is leveraging her position as third in line to the presidency to ultimately appoint Hillary as president, and everything in between. I do not know what will ultimately prove to be true. But, we saw what happened the last time she held the Speakers' gavel: secrecy, lies and deceit were used to pass a law, all of which should have been but, parts of which have now been ruled unconstitutional. One thing sure, whatever diabolical plan is underway, it is not intended to benefit us. For those who believe in the power of prayer, please, stay on it. Remember, we wrestle not against flesh and blood...

The International Criminal Court is a creature of the United Nations that came into existence in 2002. The ICC’s mission is to “bring to justice the perpetrators of the worst crimes known to humankind – war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.” Needless to say, it hasn’t had a lot of success in doing so, and has been deeply controversial from the beginning. The United States has never joined the ICC. Israel hasn’t joined the ICC either, but the ICC’s chief prosecutor has nevertheless announced that she intends to investigate alleged Israeli “war crimes”:

All the sound and fury produced by the Democrats last week about impeachment drowned out a useful lesson concerning their last great act of legislative hubris. On Wednesday the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals declared Obamacare’s insurance mandate unconstitutional and, Friday, President Trump signed a budget package that repeals three of that law’s most outrageous taxes. These are just the latest fragments to fall on the growing pile of debris lying at the foot of Obamacare’s crumbling edifice. The ruins already contain dozens of provisions repealed by Congress, struck down by the courts, or rescinded by executive order. If you are frowning at your screen,

It’s perfectly fine for politicians to look at ways to keep prescription drugs affordable. But why does the bigger problem of soaring hospital bills get so little notice? Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data out this month show that “retail prescription drug prices declined by 1.0 percent” last year, to $335 billion, while spending for hospital-care services rose at about the same rate as in 2017, to $1.2 trillion. And that’s nothing new: The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that drug prices have gone down for more months this year than they’ve gone up, something the White House understandably celebrated. The House of Representatives impeached President Bill Clinton on Dec. 19, 1998. It was a Saturday. The votes, in which two articles of impeachment passed, were held around midday. By 3 p.m., the House had passed a resolution naming its impeachment managers, and those managers had physically delivered the articles to the Senate for trial. Impeachment was on. The House, controlled by a Republican majority, was serious about its ultimately failed effort to remove Clinton from office. Contrast that to today. On Wednesday, Dec. 18, at around 8 p.m., the Democratic-controlled House passed two articles of impeachment against President Trump. Speaker Nancy Pelosi immediately announced that the House would not appoint managers,
