Impeachment Power Can Be Abused, Too

Original Article

It is not a good look for Democrats, in purporting to respond to the president’s abuse of his constitutional power over foreign relations, to abuse the House’s power over impeachment. That, however, is exactly what they are doing in their unseemly zeal to impeach President Trump on a blatantly political deadline. In a December 1 letter, White House counsel Pat Cipollone notified House Judiciary chairman Jerrold Nadler (D., N.Y.) that the president will not participate in the committee’s first open hearing on Wednesday, December 4. Ordinarily — not that there’s anything “ordinary” about the potential impeachment of an American president — I’d be inclined to assess this as poor judgment.

President Truman once remarked that the "House UnAmerican Activities Committee was the most unAmerican activity in the nation". Similar to the current democrats who are making the claim that President Trump is guilty of "abuse of power" and "obstruction of justice" when their committees demonstrate those same actions every day.

This guy is just becoming another leftist hack. I agree with some of his premise but how anyone with a brain, could read the transcript of that phone call and concluded that Trump was using "extortion" for "personal political gain" is beyond me. In the first place he wanted the Ukrainians to look into how the corruption had affected the 2016 campaign...not 2020. Anything in the National Review is most anti-trump trash nowadays. They lost me forever back in 2016!

Isn't there even a single journalist out therewho could ask the Democrats if THEY would like to personally be tried in the same manner they are trying President Trump...with secret proceedings, anonymous witnesses, hearsay evidence, etc.? Also ask if they consider such tactics "democratic". This is totally absurd.

If I want to read this inside the beltway claptrap, I'll choose something by Lanny Davis. Does Andy not understand that Joe Biden is not the president's 'opponent' -other than in the minds of the swamp dwellers? When Biden's former boss won't vouch for him, I'd be pretty sure that even the dyed- in- the -wool ,leftist droolers wouldn't, either.

And this is why there will not be any impeachment attempted - no articles will be written and/or advanced to a House vote. The game has always been to sully Trump, to derail him before the primary season began, to create the circumstances for a Republican challenger to emerge as a savior. It all depended on PDT's approval numbers falling below 40 percent or so...and it's not happening. The Plan is failing, and time is running short. Desperation is setting in. The UNIPARTY knows that. What's next? I expect House censure and a few weeks of bloody shirt waving by Democrats and a few NeverTrump GOPe over the holidays. After the New Year there will certainly be another offensive...and don't preclude an attack on the family, particularly the kids. I wouldn't be shocked if some US Attorney couldn't scheme an indictment of Don, Jr. or Kushner for some "crime", or at least rumors of a grand jury looking into something. Whatever it takes for a big-name challenger to emerge...and won't be necessarily about winning the nomination.

Ya think, Andrew? Statistically speaking, one person would go insane and/or become a lying, treasonous snake before an entire political party would. We are witnessing a rare phenomenon here and the sooner the entire democrat party dies a quick death from whatever brain-eating amoeba invaded them, the better. The Republicans are dying a slower death by offering us nothing but inaction and capitulation to the other half of the Uniparty but that has been going on since 2008 so they still have a slight chance of recovery. They had better hope that they recover before the American people step in and fix it. We will not be merciful.

What's the carbon footprint of a military invasion? And where's the army that the U.N. would use to invade a country that emits the CO2 that makes the world greener and greener? University of North Carolina Law School professor Michael Gerhardt will testify Wednesday at the House Judiciary Committee that President Donald Trump is guilty of impeachable offenses, according to a prepared version of his opening statement published by PBS. Gerhardt is one of three Democrat “expert” witnesses invited to testify on the first day of impeachment inquiry hearings in the committee. Republicans were allowed to invite one. In his statement, Gerhardt will claim that “the record compiled thus far shows that the president has committed several impeachable offenses, including bribery, abuse of power in soliciting a personal favor from a foreign leader to benefit his political campaign, obstructing Congress, and obstructing justice.”

RUSH: The other big news of the day, there’s a Washington Post story, and it has another famous, anonymous source. We don’t know who the source is. And the story says the attorney general, William Barr, has told, quote, unquote, associates that he disagrees with Horowitz’s conclusion – it’s the inspector general — report coming week from yesterday, December 9th. That he, Barr, disagrees with Horowitz’s conclusion that the FBI had enough information in July, 2016 to justify launching the investigation into the Trump campaign. So the story is that Barr disagrees. He doesn’t think they had enough information to start the investigation. He thinks it was a spy operation.

This year's education scandal saw parents shelling out megabucks to gain college admittance for their children. Federal prosecutors have charged more than 50 people with participating in a scheme to get their children into colleges by cheating on entrance exams or bribing athletic coaches. They paid William Singer, a college-prep professional, more than $25 million to bribe coaches and university administrators and to change test scores on college admittance exams such as the SAT and ACT. As disgusting as this grossly dishonest behavior is, it is only the tiny tip of fraud in higher education.

If the two fail to come to an agreement on a set of parameters for the impeachment trial, McConnell is likely to go to the Republican caucus to see who would vote alongside him, The Hill reported. "It would depend on what we could agree to,” McConnell said in reference to a bipartisan deal. “That failing, I would probably come back to my own members and say,

Do you remember where you were at 9:26 p.m. EDT on July 31? Sen. Kamala Harris certainly does. That was the moment her campaign for president ended. She only just got around to admitting it on Tuesday. Harris, a former prosecutor in San Francisco and attorney general of California, had performed swimmingly in one of the two Democratic debate sessions held in late June. She made a real impression by taking former Vice President Joe Biden down a notch. Although she carefully avoided using the word, she insinuated that Biden’s erstwhile opposition to federally mandated busing made him a racist.

Should the Democrats impeach the president? It’s hard to see a considered strategy in the approach. The president stands accused of using the official functions of his office to create an advantage against his possible 2020 rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. To punish him, Democrats have launched an impeachment crusade that has no chance of succeeding in the Republian-controlled Senate. In fact, there appears to be no possible explanation for this course of action except to gain a 2020 electoral advantage against Trump.

Transform they did, although not criminals and terrorists. Instead they transformed their countries for worse. The British police force is kneecapped by its own ruling class, the product of its new woke elite, complete with crackpot theories and activist impulses. The U.K. death penalty was removed due to the liberal empire. Police patrols were de-sexed — mom and dad duos, as some Brits call them.

It’s one of the questions you’re not supposed to ask in public but everyone talks about in private: What’s going on with Matt Drudge? For conservatives, the Drudge Report was a one-stop shop for news on the Internet starting in the late 1990s. When Matt first broke the scandal involving the President of the United States and an intern, his place at the top of alternative media, as it was called then, was secured. As always, imitators followed. But none came close to combing as many news outlets and boiling down the essence of stories like Drudge. That was his magic – he’d plow through stories and

California Sen. Kamala Harris should never have run for president in the first place. Her ambition far exceeded her ability. She hadn’t yet established herself in the U.S. Senate. And she hadn’t exactly excelled in her previous job as California’s attorney general. There wasn’t much of a record worth bragging about on the campaign trail. After being elected to the Senate in a 2016 cakewalk, she should have spent the next three years focused exclusively on representing Californians in Congress, helping the state on such vital issues as water development, environmental protection, healthcare and homelessness.
