Is Impeachment Backfiring on the Democrats?

Original Article

Impeachment is a political process. No sentient being, after all, believes that Adam Schiff or Nancy Pelosi are good-faith guardians of constitutional order. And judging the process strictly on political grounds, it hasn’t been a success for Democrats. For one thing, impeachment, if it happens, will effectively end up being a partisan censure of the president. Democrats haven’t gotten any closer to convincing a single Senate Republican to contemplate removing the president. Certainly not Mitch McConnell, who says there will be a quick trial. Not even Mitt Romney, who, at this point, is aptly troubled but uncommitted. It’s highly probable, in fact, that a Senate trial run by Republicans,

For Harsanyi to say that Biden didn't have a direct hand in Hunter's hiring is to be blind or stupid. Which are you Mr Harsanyi? Perhaps you willfully blind reporters need to check back to see just how Biden has been playing this game for a long time. Go back to Delaware and the MSBC bank and see how the Biden family gained from that and then tell me Joe had nothing to do with his son's big buck salary for doing nothing. I am disgusted by the level of incompetence among the so called journalists. Have you no shame? Have you no curiosity? You have all checked the color of Mr Trump's underwear but refuse to check into anything that the democrats may have done. I am sick of seeing clearly illegal things that no one seems to want to investigate. How about just once sitting down and looking for real news and real crimes which are not even being covered up by the democrats they are just sitting there for all to see? The extortion of millions by the Clinton Foundation is just one example that no one seems at all interested in. I guess the Arkanside of one of the witnesses to that crime was enough to stop everyone in their tracks. Grow a spine and a brain and DO YOUR JOB!

You can see the backfire by the smoke stains on their faces. I believe the old expression is "hoist by their own petard." Their attempt to blow a hole in the White House wall blew up in their faces. As soon as the functionaries began to prate about how they set foreign policy, the secret of the Deep State was on record for all to see. Thank God for alternative media. Marie Yovanovitch made it abundantly clear: appointed by Obama, she held office for life. None of this "at the will of the President" for her. Her feelings were hurt. Give her a band-aid. Obama can fire all the ambassadors, but he is a Dem. Pubbies cannot fire; their powers are limited by the power of incumbency. Soviet-style negotiation: what is ours is ours forever; what is yours is negotiable.

The real democrat-slaying truth is that President Trump is doing, and has done, what most Americans want him to do! He has done the things that previous administrations should have done, but were too timid, or too corrupt! Face it: Most Americans like what President Trump is doing for our country- even if they wish he was a little slicker, like Bush or Romney.

Good post #4. One gentle correction on the petard stuff. A petard was a small bomb with a handle on it, and a warrior would carry it up to the base of a wall, place it at the base of the wall, and detonate it, quickly scurrying away from the explosion. If the petard exploded prematurely, it would lift the person into the air, thus, 'hoist on one's own petard.' (instead of 'by one's own petard.') The closest comparison I can make to modern times is by referring to the movie, Dirty Dozen, when in the big ending scene, Jimmy Brown runs from air vent to air vent at that German castle, dropping hand grenade down each vent. Thus ends my lecture.

Nancy Pelosi is going to impeach Donald Trump, the duly-elected president of the United States, based on what we now know is a hoax. This is unbelievable. Because there are no witnesses to anything close to any kind of presidential wrongdoing — and no, sorry, but a mob of smug and bitter bureaucrats — even in full-dress uniform — do not count as witnesses… Because there is no actual evidence of anything close to any kind of presidential wrongdoing — and no, sorry, but Judge Napolitano’s hairline and Jake Tapper’s resting bitchface do not count as evidence… Because Democrats have exactly squat to impeach Trump with…

Oscar-winning actress and climate activist Emma Thompson has seen the future and behold, it is grim. She warned Thursday the “climate crisis” means Britons must prepare for “crop failures” and the prospect of eating their own pets to survive a future of cataclysmic weather events, great suffering and injustice. The imaginary recession of 2019 is over. The U.S. economy added 266,000 jobs for the month and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, matching the lowest level in 50 years. Economists had expected the economy to add 180,000 jobs and for unemployment to remain unchanged at 3.6 percent, according to Econoday. The four leading candidates for its presidential nomination — Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg — are all white. The six candidates who have qualified for the Dec. 19 debate — the front four, plus Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer — are all white. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer are both white, as are Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Whip Dick Durbin.

One symptom of a society in crisis is the unreliability or even corruption of its own auditors. After all, when the watchmen have lost moral authority to watch, who can be believed or trusted? Many Americans remain nonplussed over revelations in the House Intelligence Committee’s Impeachment Inquiry Report that its chairman, Adam Schiff, not only secretly subpoenaed telephone records from President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, but also obtained responses that detailed dates and lengths of phone calls to Trump attorney Jay Sekulow, ranking committee member Devin Nunes, and Hill reporter John Solomon. That Schiff self-disclosed this action as a rightful part of his committee’s information gathering is equally stunning. Every bit as bad, it appears that national telephone carriers AT&T and Verizon, who so tout their corporate concerns about subscriber privacy, responded to such obviously politicized demands without a whimper.
