The Impeachment Clock

Adam Schiff’s impeachment inquiry is incoherent. Given the impossibility of a senatorial conviction, the only strategy is to taint the president with the brand of impeachment and weaken him in the 2020 election.
Yet Schiff seems to have no sense that the worm has already turned. Far from tormenting Trump and the Republicans by a long-drawn-out Schiff extravaganza, Trump’s supporters are beginning to feel that the longer the farce, the better the optics. Polls show that Trump is almost back to where he was in popularity when Schiff unleashed his late-September Ukrainian caper. And the point, after all, was again to drive down Trump’s popularity and render him politically inert.
Is VDH reading my material? Kidding.
But any sensible person can and should look at the calendar. Obama, Hillary and even Trump's campaign began quite early - 1.5 years or more before the election. Primaries, debates, blah blah blah. If you plan to win then run like you're planning to win. That's what they did although Hillary mercifully lost. The time is necessary to campaign, to fundraise, to do media, to visit '57 states,' to advertise, to speechify, to cement your place in the media firmament.
The Dems have less than one calendar year now and can't even select a candidate (the nomination is usually a formality). They don't want their frontrunner and they don't like their second and third choices. If the media is attempting to draft in Bloomberg et al that is a very bad sign of nerves.
Impeachment is all they got, in the words of Zack Mayo (An Officer And A Gentleman). It isn't going well. But with the creepy, vainglorious Adam Schiff in charge no other outcome was possible.

Adam Schiff’s impeachment inquiry is incoherent because its only goal is to keep the bullstuff flying in PDT's direction for as long and hard as it can manufacture ammunition. Let's stop calling it an "impeachment inquiry" and follow the President's lead: It is a political lynching by the KKK, er, UNIPARTY. No articles will ever be forwarded to the Senate. This is a run-up to primary season with hopes to drive down PDT's popularity somewhat below 40% and allow a "big name" challenger to emerge to save the party and the nation...and it isn't Bill Weld.

Do we really want to give power to people who behave this way? What ever they do to our president, they will do to us. Look at all the horrible trumpeted up charges brought against conservatives who are now imprisoned. Think about Roger Stone when you vote.

All of what VDH has written makes eminent sense. But the Democrats are experienced politicians, seasoned tacticians Drives one to scratch one's head - Why are they still behaving this way? One reason could be the realization that conventional politics and its rules are simply not working (and are not likely to work) against some one like Trump. He spent $5 per vote against Hillary's $11. Still he is President and she is the national political bag lady. He openly defied the Media and the Intelligence Community. Still standing. So, in their frustration they are figuratively thrashing about. The danger is that as the election nears, some might resort to more illegal and more deadly tactics. This is what we need to be watchful about between now and next November.

#4 says it all in his (pronoun assumed) first sentence. The likes of Pelosi … Nadler … Schiff … Squad have been in office for a year and their accomplishments have been NOTHING except get Trump and damage the country by inaction on issues of importance.
Who in their right mind wants these people in power led by one of their candidate morons.
Joe Biden isn't too old, he's too stupid. Ditto Sanders and if Tin Lizzie is a shining example of the intellectual caliber of Hawvod professors their tuition fees are WAY too high.

On the subject of timing, the most infuriating aspect of the Schiff hearings is that the hearings we should be seeing by now, from the DOJ, are still not happening. As our President twists in the wind, the way-lengthy Durham et al reports and investigations on the Trump frame-up HAVE STILL NOT BEEN RELEASED. It beggars belief that this is not intentional. It is a repulsively unfair and vicious situation. God really doesn't like this sort of thing. He may deliver the big surprise here. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

"it’s time to pack up the circus and leave town"
But we are enjoying the clowns so much. The Republicans are asking each one of them if they have any personally observed evidence of criminality by the President. The answer is NO. Sometimes their "knowledge" is 3 or 4 times removed. Their whine is "The President won't do what WE tell him to do." which has become pathetic. For Trump supporters, we say "Thank God that Trump is not paying attention to these morons!". Then the Republicans drive home the point by asking, "So, WHY are you here?", which has no good answer except that dems are desperate. Those who oppose Trump are heading for the cliffs of disappointment once again, like Wile E. Coyote.
As to those of us frustrated with the delays of the IG and Prosecutor, truth takes longer to ferret out than lies. I will be satisfied if we get some indictments and convictions with solid evidence. We will see. If, in the end we don't, we will know the deep state has won.
