My late dad, Dr. Rev. Lloyd E. Marcus, often quoted the Book of Joshua: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (24:15).
Mary and I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with Pastor Mike and his family. Over the 20 years that I have known Pastor Mike, he has always lived by, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." While the women prepared the feast, Pastor Mike and I chatted.
He shared his burning desire to encourage pastors to return to boldly preaching the word of God. Pastor Mike presented an interesting theory. Church attendance nationwide is down.
Please God, let this be so. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I call it like I see it, and I know I tick off the "tolerant, woke" but I refuse to fall in line with the libs just to "not offend" those who sell their souls to a contrived set of victim-hood fools.

I would also add that a lot of churches don't even ask their congregation members to read the Bible from start to finish. I wonder how many priest, pastors or reverends have read the Bible from beginning to end. I have a family member who attends church most every week but won't even consider reading the Bible from start to finish. The response is: you don't have to read the Bible to be faithful. My question back was, "how do you get to know God's word if you are not reading the Bible?" Silence. The Bible is God-inspired and these are words that guide ALL of the time.
Wisdom is discerning right and wrong. If wisdom comes only from God, wouldn't you want to read His words? It is so frustrating because everyone seems to lean on their own understanding and all we have is a lot of opinions and feelings. I know I can't force someone to have a faith life but I know what I can do for myself and that is read His Word.

I attend a church that recently left a liberal denomination at high cost (extortion) for this very reason.

A Must Must Read! Well, said, Marcus. We are in a great battle and Satan is giving it his all. I believe God will win but we have to help. Keep the faith. "If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." Gal.1:10

Meanwhile, the attendance at Traditional Latin Mass is growing exponentially. Good bishops and Cardinals like Athanasius Schneider and Burke are speaking out against the liberal Pope. We live in interesting times.

I do not dignify what the Left does with the word, "culture." They just happen to occupy the same planet we do and the simple word "insanity" covers it all. They do not dictate how I live or speak. The only way that they can gain power or relevance is if we give it to them. I do not like or approve of what they do and unless they cross my path with bad intentions I simply ignore them. My children survived the public indoctrination and are productive adults with good careers.

I had to look up what a dental dam is. My dentist used one on me during a root canal. But now the US government has a site online telling people how to use them for oral sex. OMG!
I hope that Mr. Marcus is correct. Last year I spent 5 days driving around New England on back roads - Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. I lost count of the number of Protestant churches which were flying a rainbow flag out front. I figured that they are trying to get bodies into their pews and cash into their collection plates, but I doubt that it’s working.

Anytime Christianity is reduced to a set of rules, it will then be made to compete with other sets of rules (other religions, LGBT nonsense, other 'isms' etc), and will be subject to revision by its own adherents, who sometimes prefer other rules (e.g., rainbows on churches). The competition, whose name is satan, has then defined the narrative, and the argument.
Every Christian knows that its rules, which are very real, flow out of Relationship with Father God, not the reverse. The rules matter, but only to the degree that they reflect the Relationship.
Focusing on compliance with the rules of Christianity with people who have no Relationship is like throwing pearls to pigs....they won't recognize their value, and will most often trample all over them.
We should all be promoting that Relationship as the #1 priority, beginning with the Gospel of Salvation.

Apostasy. That is what most churches practice. The Great Falling Away. Marcus is right that church attendance has declined greatly (except for the Name-it-and-Claim-it, Toot and Tell It, Blab It And Grab It crowd) but churches--regardless of denomination--who do not preach the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus will have their light stand taken away.

Thank you #2 & #3. Well said. I've listened to numerous corporate motivational speakers through the years and I have found that there is little or no difference between their speeches and many pastors sermons. They are more dedicated to making their congregations feel good about themselves than they are in teaching God's Word. I realize that portions of scripture are hard to teach and are unpopular to a lot of people but a conscientious pastor would teach it none the less. St. Paul stated that teachers will be held to a higher standard than those who they teach. Unless these church leaders change their ways they will find themselves among those our Lord. " never knew".
