Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has revealed how she learned her husband was seeking a divorce in an email from his attorney.Palin told a Christian broadcaster that she received an email June 19 from the attorney, almost three months before Todd Palin filed for divorce on his birthday in September. The former 2008 vice-presidential candidate described the filing that came shortly after their 31st wedding anniversary as devastating. 'I thought I got shot,' she said. However, Palin said the couple going through counseling and their marriage isn't 'over, over.' She said attorneys are 'getting rich' off them.

I can understand how he might have wanted to get off of the merry-go-round of his wife and daughter's never-ending publicity. I like Sarah Palin but I think she went about things all wrong after she and McTraitor lost the 2008 election. She should have quietly rebuilt her reputation and run for another state office.
I think Todd wants to go back to being the Alaska alpha man he was meant to be. There is nothing wrong with that. If the two of them find their way back to one another, that would be great. But Sarah needs to learn that some things are private and not go running to the press or televangelists every time something goes awry in her life.

When I heard the news, my first thought was Todd's serious snowmobile accident he suffered in 2016. Then in 2017, he suffered a beating about the head from his son. Such physical abuse can change a person -- their personality. As far as running to the press... Sarah doesn't need to run to the press because they're still waiting in the wings, salivating for every negative tidbit on her they can get. My prayers are for the Palins.

Agree #2.
I don't know how public figures cope with the drama that has visited Sarah Palin. Does one just not respond to the public and hope it goes away? While she was Governor of Alaska, she was well liked. Why, even Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs and his followers, before he went off the rails, praised her when she was John McCain's VP candidate. Had she not been the VP candidate with John McCain, would we have heard about all of this? Had her children behaved themselves, would we still be talking about her? I don't know. But I don't think there would have been the media obsession with every detail of her life.

It all sounds easy to criticize the former Governor and her family. The nasty press
keeps tabs to be sure any family turmoil gets a headline. The Palins don’t have a PR staff like the Bushes, McCains have always had to keep unsavory family things either softened or out of the press period. Don’t lets think there isn’t plenty of unsavory family mess in their families too. I pray for Todd and Sarah. God bless them.

It is a miracle Sarah Palin's family isn't more screwed up than it is. They were a rather ordinary family that was thrust in the spotlight and became targets of the liberal and RINO press and intelligencia that has hounded them ever since. What normal family could withstand that kind of pressure?

Sarah is an extraordinary woman with superior gifts of thinking and speaking. She would have been outstanding in any higher office she attained but the carnival troupe that is her family keeps dragging her down. John McCain didn't help much either and let the GOP run her into the ground right under his incompetent democrat nose. Her mistake was in trusting people too much and assuming that most people are honest. If Todd looks for another woman he will be sorely disappointed because one the caliber of Sarah is very rare. He comes across like a big kid and that may be the main reason that his own kids screw up so much.

Let's not forget the evil actions of the Left in a all this.
Recall that Sarah was Governor of Alaska at the time she was McCain's better half of the ticket.
The scummy Left made all kinds of accusations against her without any merit and brought on endless investigations that Sarah had to pay the legal fees for out of her own pocket. The pile-on by the Left was so fierce that the evil Washington Post openly called for volunteers to read through Sarah's official emails for dirt.
In the end, to escape the onslaught from the Left, Sarah resigned her governor position....and the Left called the person who they drove out of office "a Quitter."
It had to be hard, fighting the Left, paying upwards of $500K in legal fees, and keeping a marriage together.
I wish them well in their counseling and curse the vile, disgusting Democrats

She truly underestimated the horror of being thrust into the national spotlight/colonoscopy before she was ready. She was likeable, capable and beautiful but the Dens and the media saw her weakness and went for her and her family's throat.

I'm still good with Sarah Palin. Yes, it has been hard on Todd and her to maintain normalcy despite the msm and the issues with her kids. A private life for the two of them would preserve their relationship. The President should consider someone else to take over the Energy Department. All the best for the two of them.

Agreed #6. The press and the traitors in the establishment GOP actively set out to destroy her life out of pure jealousy and hatred of her traditional lifestyle, her femininity, and her love for America. With the exception of Trump, there has been no candidate in American political history vilified to the degree Sarah Palin was.
My long and nasty breakup with the GOP began when the snobs in Washington, and here on this forum, started in on her. I’ll never forget watching her wonderful speech the day her VP candidacy was announced. I was SO proud and inspired as conservative young woman who was at the time very active in politics. She was the antithesis of all of the nasty, hate-filled, unhappy, gross liberal women who’s company I was forced to endure (and instructed to admire) throughout college and in my early experiences in the workplace. So when they turned on her, and her family, they turned on me. She gets a pass on her PR missteps because she stood up to them when literally no one else did. And she did it gracefully. I admire her toughness immensely and hope she can find peace and happiness.

I can definitely empathize with Sarah, having gone through a divorce I didn't want. But in the end, after the fog had cleared, I came to the conclusion that my ex had done me a huge favor. I'm sure Sarah will reach the same conclusion herself someday.

Exactly what is "normal" about them? Todd was about the only normal one we could see. She's a drama queen, and her kids were badly affected by all the media attention.

#7, she cheapened her brand by doing a reality show, for one thing. Then her daughter was all over the place touting abstinence despite giving birth to two out-of-wedlock children, followed by another child born during a short-lived marriage to the father of her second child. The family drama and publicity came to define Sarah and her family more than Sarah's political accomplishments. I still think Sarah can reconstruct a political career from the ground up.

An outsider does not know what goes on inside a marriage, but those who have been married and raised kids can recognize stress points. When children have problems, all kinds of friction can be created between parents - a good reason for getting grown kids out of the house and on their own. After a near-death experience, like Todd Palin's accident, people tend to do a reassessment of their lives. My observation is that if the person is older, they tend to go with finding peace in their lives. Younger ones tend to "speed up" their lives, wasting less time to reach goals and achieve things, like a lot of young veterans.

I think it would be difficult for any man to take a Back Seat to a wife who is a Whirlwind type of woman. She is a wife, mother, a former Governor and a former VP candidate. I think she should have schooled her children that they MUST stay away from the Press. Their private lives were fodder for gossip Rags more than once. I think Sarah has a lot of talent and could find a place in the Trump Administration that would help The President. She is Loyal and she is Fearless! Trump could use someone like her! I hope she and her husband can work things out with counseling, but if it doesn't work out for them, Sarah will move on to do something important. I'm sure of it!

Poor Sarah, she was played like the rest of us. She wasn't taken any more seriously than Biden was by Obarry. Sarah was a pacifier meant to shut conservatives the hell up most particularly the Tea Party wackobirds, which is exactly how we were thought of.

Too much, too soon, too public. She should have told John McCain "no". And if she had stayed in her governor's office, built up from there, it all might have worked out differently. I assume she is living a happier life out of the national spotlight.

I am sympathetic to Sarah Palin, but she should keep this to herself and make no public comments. Granted, she is a public figure and some of the details will come out. After all, the New York Times sent seven reporters to Alaska to sift through her garbage bins.

As one of Sarah Palin's biggest defenders here, I still feel she should have taken the advice I originally voiced when I heard John McCain was considering the pregnant governor of Alaska... Stay home and raise your family, you're still young and McCain is a loser.

In hindsight, anything could be said about her. That's easy. But for those who criticize don't have the slightest clue of the courage and the street smarts it took to fight and overcome her enemies. I was one of those who voted for her and not McCain.

Sarah Palin is a good woman at heart. Good women always go through the worst sadness when they're at the receiving end of these sorts of unwanted experiences. One thing in her favor is that she has weathered storms, having survived being mocked and borderline-persecuted by the unrelenting mainstream media for a number of years now. Whatever happens, she'll pull through.
