History, someone once said, is a lie agreed upon, and nowhere is that more self-evident than in accounts of America’s racial history as told by Democrats. Republicans are the party of racism and slavery when the historical record shows just the opposite to be true. As Thomas Sowell notes, Democrats value black votes but not black voters. Democrats need black voters to be fearful, angry, resentful and paranoid. Black votes matter. If Republicans could get 20 percent of black votes, the Democrats would be ruined.

I’m always befuddled why the Republican Party never points to the history of the dem party and drives it home day in and day out. Cowardice, as usual, I suspect.

“ Tubman would be the first African-American woman to appear on U.S. currency and the first woman in 100 years.”
I guess Katko doesn’t remember the Susan B. Anthony dollar from the late 1970s- early 1980s.

It appears that if you want alive people to pay reparations for what dead people did all registered dems need to pay the bill.

While we are considering actual history - it is important to realize that the Democrat Ruling Elite in the South passed poll taxes and literacy voting laws as much to disenfranchise poor whites as poor blacks.
If you review the voting percentages (Using Federal Govt Data) - the drop in total voter turnout is much greater than the total number of black voters. The drop in voter turnout is two to three TIMES that number.

The Dems love to tout the fact that they "changed" their Party to accept Blacks, and to end the racial divide, and the Pubbiies refused to politically "Join Hands" with them.
The only "Transformation" was in 1964 when LBJ passed legislation to essentially buy Black loyalty by distributing a pittance of taxpayer money, and allow Black Dems to be the overseers of the new Black Plantation, where the only thing harvested is votes.

And yet that "pittance" #6 mentions has cost this nation $22, 000, 000, 000, 000 for those black votes. It's called "The Great Society" and I submit that it has ruined the black family and poisoned racial relations. Let's pray that "Blexit" works.

I think Katko is right since the Susan B Anthony was considered coinage whereas the $20 bill is currency.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about how bad the Democratic Party treats its black voters. In this day and age, there is no reason why any black person should continue to be so ignorant about the history of the Democratic Party. In some ways, it is too bad they have the vote as I am also sick and tired of hearing how the Republican Party has to do more to reach out to black voters to convince them to vote R.

Dang - I came to this thread to see whether anybody could give a sensible critique of the movie, and no one did (at least so far), and the article was about history, not the film.
That's fine. But I'd really like to know whether it's worth watching. For example, did Harriet's support of the Republican Party, or her use of firearms, ever get mentioned? I tried IMDB but there is only the usual mishmash of loved it or hated it with no reason applied... Is it a leftist remake or is it reasonably true to history?
(So hard to find anything to go see these days.)

My wife and I saw the movie a couple of days ago. It was excellent. I felt it was a great portrayal of what she did, her use of firearms and her persistence in the face of all sorts of dangers. I would highly recommend it. It's also a very Christian movie, highlighting her constant prayer in the face of danger. Also how many of the slaves kept a steadfast faith in God throughout their ordeal.
Go see it. You'll be impressed. And the SJW crowd will have their hair on fire if it's a big hit. I'm sure they'll try to ignore it or downplay its significance in history.

Rotten Tomatoes had a critic score of 73 and an audience score of 97, so I immediately knew that the left-leaning critics hated something about it.

A great article that lays out the truth about which party was the party of slavery and which party still inflicts damage on Blacks by condemning them to victimhood and failed policy.
It is abhorrent that lies are told about the Republican party in seeking dem power. Republicans are the party of individual freedom and opportunity which is the ONLY path to success. Dems offer government thralldom at poverty levels. Blacks are awakening to this truth and that is a death knell for the dems. Dems keep talking about demographics being in their favor but they treat Blacks monolithically, as dem property, instead of as thinking people. The same is happening with Hispanics.
The dems should be very, very afraid.

#8, money is money. You can buy a latte at Starbucks for a fiver, five ones, 20 quarters or any combination of paper and coins you happen to have in your pocket.

Where would black people (or anyone) hear about the history of the Democrat party? From the alphabet networks - no. From newspapers and magazines - no. From their high school or college history or social science textbooks - no. Where are the pictures of George Wallace (D) standing in the schoolhouse door? Where are the pictures of Bull Conner and the dogs and fire hoses he used to suppress civil rights demonstrations? Where are the accounts of the reason Lyndon Johnson gave for pushing the great Society? According to an eye witness he said "I'll have those (forbidden word for black people used by racists) voting democrat for 200 years" and numerous historians have LBJ on the record referring to the Civil Rights Act of 1957 as “the (forbidden word for black people used by racists) bill". Pictures of the KKK "klanbake" at the 1924 democratic convention? That the Klan was the military arm of the Democrat party in the south? All of this is carefully concealed. Sorta like the pictures of the buildings burning and collapsing and people dying on Sept 11, 2001/
