DHS cuts welfare test for
immigration fee waivers

The Department of Homeland Security’s citizenship agency announced Friday it is streamlining the way migrants can apply for a discount on their immigration fees, saying that the old method unfairly gave an advantage to people living in some states. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will no longer accept a migrant’s use of a state welfare program as evidence someone is poor enough to qualify for a fee waiver, because the states vary too widely in their eligibility. Instead, applicants will have to prove their incomes are less than 150% of the federal poverty level or they’ll have to make a convincing argument

We have policies to address non-citizens’ use of welfare before granting them citizenship. Not to exclude them, but to grant them discounts on immigration fees, perhaps because we need more takers. And the mantra is that “migrants” do not have access to welfare.

Apparently this department's bureaucrats didn't get the word that non-citizens don't get to use hand-outs.

I am walking on a cloud. My swearing in ceremony is in 3 weeks. This is after 5 years of paperwork and I must say very professional interaction with USCIS and a lot of fees. I didn't just walk in and sat down. I did it the way it is supposed to be done. In 3 weeks I'm an ex-Canadian and not looking back in spite of the free medical care.

Daughter-in-law came here legally from Thailand, and without welfare, became a citizen. She has always paid her own way, and has never been a burden on the taxpayers. In fact, she is one, too! Why can't more immigrants be like her?

How do you prove a negative? The ones that i have known of work under the table and therefore can undercut the tax paying competition. The FLDS have the same anti-government gimmick going on in many places.

Oh, oh, Cuomo will be screaming because no state has more generous welfare benefits than NY. Plus he has to protect his jihadi base which he imported.

Microsoft has won the Pentagon’s prized $10 billion “war cloud” contract, the Defense Department announced late Friday, beating out frontrunner Amazon Web Services in a stunning decision that comes after public criticism by President Trump of the Pentagon’s bidding process. The choice of Microsoft to run the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud ends months of drama inside the Defense Department and would seem to satisfy critics—including the president—who complained that the Pentagon did not competitively bid the contract and had planned to award it to Amazon all along.(Snip) Amazon and Microsoft were the only two companies left

London—Climate activist Greta Thunberg has a tiny new namesake. London’s Natural History Museum said Friday that a minute species of beetle is being named “Nelloptodes gretae” in honor of the 16-year-old Swede. Michael Darby, a scientific associate at the museum who found the insect in its collection of millions of animal specimens, chose the name to acknowledge her “outstanding contribution” to raising awareness of environmental issues. The beetle is less than 1 millimeter long and has no eyes or wings. It belongs to a 1960s collection from samples of soil and leaf litter in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi,

A pallbearer at Rep. Elijah Cummings’ memorial service at the Capitol Thursday refused to shake hands with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, leaving the GOP lawmaker visibly stunned. In video captured by C-Span, Bobby Rankin—who was listed as a pallbearer for Cummings’ Friday funeral—walks down a line of VIP attendees. He hugs Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), then shakes hands with Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Rankin then walks past McConnell, who is sandwiched between Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, without breaking his stride

Shocking photographs of Democrat Katie Hill posing naked with a tattoo of what appears to be a Nazi-era Iron Cross on her bikini line while smoking a bong and making out with her young female aide have been obtained exclusively by DailyMail(dot)com. The congresswoman, 32, was also pictured naked brushing the young woman's hair, who DailyMail(dot)com can identity as Morgan Desjardins, 24, from Santa Clarita, California. Desjardins began a relationship with Hill and Heslep shortly after she started working for Hill in 2017, before the three-way affair broke down this summer when Hill told both her husband and her

Now that she’s in Canada, the teen doomsayer hasn’t explained how she’ll travel 4,000 miles home to Sweden without flying.(Snip) But in order to achieve its green goal, Boeing had to use much bigger engines that didn’t fit in the usual position under the wing of the repurposed, 53-year-old 737 design. The framework, the final draft of which is scheduled to be completed by September 2020, will also attempt to "explain how math dictates economic oppression." That's correct: math. The quip among Jewish Republicans about President Obama’s trafficking with anti-Semites was that he was so popular with American Jews that had he nuked Tel Aviv, he would have lost no more than 30% of the Jewish vote. The affinity for American Jews for the Democrat Party has long been a political curiosity. The distinguished essayist Milton Himmelfarb observed that in America, Jews had attained the socioeconomic status of Episcopalians, but for some reason they continued to vote like Puerto Ricans. Nothing seems to dissolve the sinew that ties Jews to the Democrats. President Obama’s association with the anti-Semitic Rev. Jeremiah Wright brought a collective yawn.
