Amidst a battle between the President of the United States and the Intelligence Community that has sparked formal impeachment proceedings against the president by Democrats in Congress, federal law enforcement officials have formally charged one intelligence community official with leaking highly classified information to the media. This comes in the wake of a top-ranking congressional intelligence committee staffer facing similar charges of leaking last year and sets the stage for a larger fight between Trump and intelligence community leakers. The nature of these intelligence community leakers’ deeply personal relationships with the reporters to whom they were leaking

In DC, leaks are viewed as part of "politics", even leaking of classified and top secret material.
Until (or if) the identified leakers face appropriate punishment this accepted culture will continue.
Yes, there certainly is a swamp in DC, and the number of swamp creatures that are being exposed is alarming. The question now is: are there enough people with the will and the integrity to attempt to help our President drain the swamp?

Breaks my heart to see how politicized our intel services have become. But having held a TS clearance for over 50 years and being reminded at least yearly what would happen to me if I violated the rules, I say hang these swamp rats from the highest yardarm.

This is nothing short of treason. As much as I love Trump, he needs to crack the whip now!!
There have to be consequences and making a few public arrests and convictions will go a long way towards chilling out the rats. There cannot be the same old, same old, business as usual, nothing-to-see-here attitude by the DOJ and the FBI. The FISA warrants alone were criminal ... yet all we hear is crickets. Someone needs to be frog-marched out of their office and put into an orange jump suit.

Long over due is the firing of every single employee of the entire Obama KGB Gestapo. Scrap the entire nest of treasonous snakes & start over. America does not need 17 agencies plotting to overthrow our government. Get rid of all of them.

I think it should carry a MANDATORY 20 year prison term. No getting out for good behavior. Make an example of these people, including the so called whistleblowers if THEY handed over classified information. If there isn't already a law for this penalty, Trump should make one by Executive Order!

I don't think any of these leakers will be going to jail.
The applicable law [US2107(c)1-9] reads: "It is treasonous to transfer classified or secret documents to anyone outside the intelligence agencies except to the New York Times and the Washington Post."
So - - it's pretty clear that these leakers can't be prosecuted.

How do you chronicle this mess in historical literature? It isn't possible to assemble and rationalize such corruption into history so that it can be understood by future generations. The President has exposed corruption the likes of which are off the scale that would impress Lenin and Stalin. Draining the swamp was never thought to be such a massive effort. But, press on, the President must.

The problem is the plethora of "intelligence" agencies in the federal government. There are nearly twenty intel outfits employing hundreds of thousands of individuals with Top Secret security clearances. If they mirror the political leanings of the rest of the federal bureaucracy, they are probably overwhelmingly lefties. Then you have spies and reporters literally in bed together and all bets are off.

Most criminal cases are prosecuted from the little fish on up with hopes that a few sharks will inevitably be caught. Since most of this lawbreaking was done for the purpose of helping Hillary Clinton to ascend to the throne to which she was entitled and volume-wise she was the worst and most significant leaker I would dress her in orange first and force her to name all of her flying monkeys by promising to shave two years off her hundred-year sentence. Lefties would be falling all over themselves to make deals and the squealing would be heard all the way down to Georgia.

Use to be that American intelligence agencies existed to find communist spies and prevent them from using our secrets to overthrow our government. Now, because of the clintons and hussein, many in our intelligence agencies ARE the communist spies trying to overthrow our government.
A lot of this all started with the corrupt clintons, who allowed just about any supporter or Friend Of Bill in to the White House, many long before any of them had security clearances. Now, because they have no real allegiance to our nation, leftists only treat matters of security as weapons to be used against political opponents.
