Fox News’ senior political analyst Brit Hume weighed in on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement of a formal impeachment inquiry, arguing the move “was really quite clever.”What Pelosi accomplished, he argued, was to placate the progressive wing of the party while protecting moderates by not actually moving forward with a formal impeachment vote."It strikes me that the Speaker and the other leaders are under pressure from the left wing of the party and the leftists in their caucus -- who are numerous -- to move ahead here," he said.

Hume's assessment is that Pelosi dodges a bullet from the impeachment-driven constituents like Mad Max and Taco Barbie by appearing to start an inquiry that she knows won't amount to a bucket of spit. But whatever the Dems do it only hastens their doom. They have proven to America that they don't want to bring people together, they want to foment division. They want to tear apart the Republic and tear up the Constitution and just rule over all of us because they're smart and we're too stupid to know what's best for us. At this point they are pure hubris. All hat and no cattle, as the saying goes.

Sorry, Brit, but the loons know (but likely won't verbalize it) that she's trying to pull a fast one on them. I'd love to see them boot her out of leadership in as ugly and disgraceful a way as possible.

There are special rules regarding access to witnesses and documents which apply only during an impeachment inquiry. However, an impeachment inquiry can only begin once a resolution to begin impeachment hearings is passed by the full House. So, unless Pelosi wants to put her members from districts won by Trump on record, and assuming she can even get the required number of votes, it's just business as usually. Trump can continue to refuse Nadler's requests and fight them in court every step of the way.

Nancy is gutless. Vote now or shut the heck up. Simple really - she won't. She will lose the vote (once a loser, always a loser) and that lost vote guarantees our President's re-election (and will provide mighty big coattails for the house and senate).

I use to admire Brit Hume but this is just his opinion and nothing else. Pelosi is playing a balancing game with her party and proving all of them are crazy.

Brit is not very clever, and misses like he always does. Pelosi intends to have a vote, and has the votes for a constitutional approved impeachment. That will give the Democrats legitimate subpoena power to harass this President. It is political, and no Republican will join, or should not, we will see. The Democrats know they do not have the Senate, but they can now overshadow and demonize every action taken by this President in order to destroy him so he can be edged out in the next election. The Democrats plan to cheat to win that election, anything necessary. The President gave a great speech at the UN yesterday. Almost nobody has heard it, because the Democrats launched this impeachment frenzy, and that is all the media covered. Mission accomplished for the Democrats.

Pelosi is going to finish the tearing apart of her party that Obama and Harry Reid started back in Obama's second term. I am hopeful that not only will democrats lose huge, but that Pelosi will be reduced to a sniveling minority for years to come.

Watching Nancy lose it is almost worth the price of admission. For all her faults, give the devil her due. For almost 20 years, Nancy has been a successful practictioner of politics. Raising money, keeping her troops in line, taking fire from the Republicans, doing what she needs to do.
But since she's reassumed the Speaker's job, she's been out foxed by the girls of the Squad. I figured Nancy would have squashed the girls like a fly, but they've been able to out-manuver Nancy right and left (mostly left; heck, always left). Now she's become the Dictator of the House, making Royal Pronouncements that she has Deigned that a decision has been made (like "Formal Impeachment). But remember when she tried to pass Obamacare by saying it was passed so that they didn't have to do reconcilation back in 2009-2010. Maybe she'll get the same result as 2010.
