CNN’s Keilar to Rand Paul: Are You

Thursday on CNN’s “Right Now,” anchor Brianna Keilar asked Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) if he and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) were in a “butt-kissing” contest to gain the favor of President Donald Trump. Paul said, “I guess the problem of the Cheneys, both Dick and Liz are Never Trumpers. They hate President Trump’s foreign policy. They want to stay in Afghanistan forever. They’re apologizing for John Bolton. They love John Bolton. So really, they’re part of this foreign policy swamp that has been trying to undermine President Trump.” He continued, “So people of Wyoming and people of the United States need to know that the Cheneys are never Trumpers. ”

Standards at CNN have sounds like snotty high-schoolers are in charge there. Whatever happened to decorum? Obama really held the whip over the press but they loved him unconditionally; Trump is much more accessible than Obama ever was yet they hate him like no other, smearing him and behaving in such an uncouth manner. Obama never, ever, deserved the level of adulation the press gave him, while Trump is 100x the statesman that Obama could ever hope to be. And I love Trump for being direct, he has no time for BS.

President Donald Trump told an informal news conference on Thursday that he has 15 candidates to replace John Bolton as National Security Adviser. "A lot of people want the job. And we-- it's a great job," Trump said. "It's great because it's a lot of fun to work with Donald Trump, and it's very easy, actually, to work with me. You know why it's easy? Because I make all the decisions. They don't have to work." (Video)

Soccer fans booed U.S. Armed Forces enlistees this week at a swearing-in ceremony that took place at a match between the Portland Thorns and the North Carolina Courage. The fans were booing the fact that the enlistees had to at one point pledge to follow the orders of their commander-in-chief, President Donald Trump. Agreeing to follow the orders of the president, by the way, is part of every swearing-in ceremony for every man or woman who joins the U.S. Armed Forces. The National Women’s Soccer League game took place in Providence Park in Portland, Oregon.

Amid several news cycles dominated by a deeply stupid hurricane dispute, a controversy over the Taliban and presidential optics, "impeachment," and the non-amicable departure of the National Security Adviser, some decidedly positive economic news has gotten lost -- or at least muted -- in the shuffle. For instance, one of the Democratic attack lines on GOP economic policies, no matter how successful they may be, is that they exclusively benefit "the rich." This Washington Post story underscores why that simply has not been the case during the current expansion:

The controversial arrangement by the U.S. Air Force to refuel at a Scottish airport near President Trump’s Turnberry golf resort apparently was signed under the Obama administration, according to multiple reports. The details emerged as the Air Force was called to explain a March stopover in the Scottish resort -- with Democrats on the House Oversight Committee writing to Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan as part of their investigation into alleged conflicts of interest by the president. The twist revealing that the airport deal predates his administration could boost Trump's case.

The advertisement starred Elizabeth Heng, a Republican from California’s Central Valley who lost against Democratic California Rep. Jim Costa in 2018. Paid for by “New Faces GOP,” the advertisement featured Ocasio-Cortez’s face on paper being burned as Heng talked about her family’s tragedies because of socialism.

It’s not just that Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang likes to tell jokes — it’s that his entire candidacy may itself very well be nothing but a joke. While this may sound harsh, it’s how a large number of people appeared to react after the 2020 contender transformed his presidential campaign into a veritable sweepstakes competition. And that, FYI, is no joke. Watch the transformation below as it played out at Thursday’s Democrat presidential debate:

Democrats are an opportunistic bunch, and the sudden surge of Obama-love in Houston at Debate Three was weird stuff, given the stark contrast to idol-toppling from the previous debates. From Aaron Blake at the Washington Post: Barack Obama: The last Democratic president has found himself something of an unlikely villain at the first two debates, as Democrats anxious to go further left than his administration distanced themselves from his immigration record, his deals with Republicans and even argued Obamacare is insufficient. But Thursday night, at the first debate at a historically black college since 2007, Obama got more than his share of love.

Early Monday morning, Donald Trump tweeted: “94% Approval Rating in the Republican Party, a record. Thank you!” Where the president got this specific number remains a mystery. Recent polls by YouGov put his GOP approval roughly ten points lower, and Gallup, which has tracked Trump’s popularity since he took office, puts him at 88 percent. But I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that Trump used his Sharpie to round up his score. He’s deeply invested in being — or at least claiming to be — the most popular Republican president in history.

Eleven of those climbers are dangling over the side of the bridge, an activist said in a Facebook Live video. The climbers held colorful ribbons and streamers to block traffic under the bridge. The group aims to “shut down the largest oil export channel in the U.S.” for 24 hours. Mayor Pete Buttigieg ought to crack open the Bible, turn to Psalm 139, and read how God formed humans “fearfully and wonderfully” — and after, take a second look at his views on abortion and repent, said his brother-in-law, Rhyan Glezman, an evangelical pastor from Michigan, on Fox News. Good advice. It is a curiosity how a self-declaring Christian can still stand strong on the side of abortion rights. This is what Buttigieg said a few days ago on a “Breakfast Club” radio interview: “Right now, [conservatives] hold everybody in line with this one piece of doctrine about abortion, which is obviously a tough issue

To date, five congressmen from Texas have resigned instead of seeking re-election in 2020. Their resignations signal two things from GOP leadership. The first is the realization that Texas is now lost. The second is that this loss is due entirely to the changing demographics resulting from legal and illegal immigration. The five congressmen that have resigned are Bill Flores (17th), Will Hurd (23rd), Pete Olson (22nd), Kenny Marchant (24th), and Mike Conaway (11th). Of these five, Congressman Conaway is unique in that his district will likely remain red for some time. He has not faced an opponent in numerous election cycles.

When we’re faced with threats of inundation, our reaction has traditionally been to build walls. Sea-level rises, storms and floods have been held back with solid barriers, seawalls and dykes. We have used walls to keep out people, too: the fact that this has failed throughout the ages has not stopped its recent revival in the United States. The climate crisis threatens global sea-level rises of well over half a metre if we fail to act, while tidal storm surges will reach many times that height. Fiercer and more frequent hurricanes will batter us, and millions of people who live in areas where crops have failed
