When staff at Westglades Middle School heard that Nikolas Cruz had committed the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, some couldn’t believe it. The fact that he was a mass murderer wasn’t what surprised them, but rather the fact that he had attended that school. “How is that possible?” one Westglades educator recalled thinking. “We did our jobs. It took forever, but we got him [to the specialized school] where he needed to go. We couldn’t believe they ever let him into [Stoneman].” Westglades students and staff had never seen anyone like Nikolas Cruz. One student, Paige, recalled the time that she met

At last an objective assessment of the REAL problem: it's NOT the guns.

But my guns are at fault and I should be deprived of them. Right.

All this ... and that Hogg kid gets to run around flapping his gums about anything he wants — and gets air time. If he were serious, he’d be asking questions about the issues raised in this article.
But the easy way out is to blame the guns. What about the mumbo-jumbo teachers are forced to put up with — why aren’t the Hoggs talking about that? Bureaucrats force teachers time give this violent kid time outs. Why? How is that loving to anyone? If the kid ends up being a murderer (and he did), you aren’t doing him any favors — not to mention anyone else.

The Obama administration should take credit for this massacre as well as the superintendent of the schools in Broward County.

This narrative is what the mainstream media took pains to avoid telling.

This is a chilling account of this young man’s history. Many, many red flags were there for educators to see and most everyone came to the same conclusion and that was this kid was a serious threat. Yet, for some reason the school policy put his rights over every other kid in the school. It is clear that the policy makers are either inept or have an agenda. Reasonable people would not make decisions like these that enabled Cruz to remain in a classroom because he obviously presented a real threat to the student and faculty.
We have a problem in this country and part of it is feeding excessive violent entertainment to our children. While the majority will be able to handle it, there is a minority that will be adversely affected by it. Kids enter this world of fantasy and they become desensitized by the content. Killing is easy but worst of all, it becomes satisfying. I certainly am no expert but when I was growing up this was unheard of. We had no excessive violence that was being pushed on us, and we had no entertainment that glorified killing. A lot has changed since then. As entertainment has gotten more graphic, it has caused a detachment from reality. We win with more kills. We watch horror movies that are unbelievably graphic and cruel. Halloween has become a huge opportunity to dwell on the macabre. Frightening events bring thousands to witness untold gore. We cannot allow this excessive and gory violence permeate the psyche of our children. It has gone too far. All this is playing with fire and we are reaping the whirlwind now. Some may think it’s all in good fun, but go and see the graphic bloody violence that has become a million dollar industry and then convince me it is acceptable. There are forces in this world that are being unleashed in every way possible. It has been a slow trickle since my youth, but now it has become a torrent of gory violence that can be very dangerous to some. The desensitizing of violence is a danger we should not ignore. Feeding the minds of disturbed children with these images is reckless.
Our failure to protect our children in school by providing properly armed security will only provide another their target rich environment to the mentally ill. Parents should insist that all schools have armed security, properly trained and educated in dealing with these threats. If the policies will not allow the threat to be removed from the school and they clearly do not, then it is imperative that the children are protected. Armed protection should be required in every school. Just their presence would be a huge deterrent.

A deranged student should NEVER be allowed in a public school. Keep the crazees with other crazees in an institution someplace. NIMPS (Not In My Public School)

Unfortunately, Parkland and most of the other mass shootings are the result of liberal, well meaning mental health advocates. They advocate for full participation in the community by the mentally ill, no matter what (it's their right to be out in the community). They can't be locked up UNTIL it is proved that they are a danger to themselves or to others. It is the law! Even then, they are usually not locked up, but given some medication that they do not take. It is only after they kill someone or kill many, that people act all surprised and ask why nobody did anything before the tragedy. The people who work with the mentally ill know exactly who should be locked up. They just can't say so out of political correctness.

The article is an adapted excerpt from a book cowritten by a father of a girl killed by a system that allows the insane to do as they like until they "just snap." Remarkable gall on the part of David Pigg and company to blame guns when they (including the killer himself) all knew that the Cruz was a ticking time bomb who should have been institutionalized.
