If there were ever a survey asking gun owners why they buy guns, I’d wager the majority of them would say that it basically is for protection. The Second Amendment was not written for hunters but for the people’s self-protection, including protection from tyranny. The first thing smart dictators do is remove guns from registered owners.
While the media and the left pontificate about the evil of guns used in recent mass shootings, Senator Lindsey Graham told the blatant truth when asked about why he owned an AR-15. His comments were reported in an article by Hunter Lovell in the Washington Examiner:

Absolutely love the last paragraph:
I call it the pussification of the nation and with so many of these aggrieved personalities out there, gun ownership seems to be the best defense against them. John Lennon’s lyrics about guns are more relative today than those in the insipid Imagine but he’d never be allowed to write them today.

I’m old enough to remember when boys brought their guns to school for show and tell, when girls were taught to shoot at summer camp, when there were trucks in school parking lots with rifles in the back windows and when there were NO mass shootings or school shootings.
It is not just the “pussification” of the country. It is the removal of God from society and the “right” to kill your own child in the womb. The value of life has plummeted since the 60’s.

It is no mere coincidence that the rise of freedom for common people happened once firearm technology made it more economic to raise an army of musketeers than bowmen and edged weapon foot soldiers. This happened while the traditional weapons were still superior man for man in the hands of a professional soldier but when you factor in the cost and logistics of raising and feeding an army firearms emerged as the superior choice. Talk about unintended consequences; the large numbers that could be raised and made lethal rapidly now had the power to overthrow their own government. The gun gave common people the ultimate check and balance against government allowing us to escape serfdom.
Our current state of technology, where government has a monopoly on state of the art weaponry, has tipped the scale back toward government otherwise we wouldn't even be having this discussion. To surrender our firearms is to return to the status of human livestock to be used at the will of ruling elites. That my brothers and sisters is why we have the second amendment.
As a footnote, the arguement against the bill of rights was that our unalienable rights come from God and were such a "given" that it wasn't necessary to put them on paper.

I've never hunted. Nothing against hunting, but I work too many hours to do so. but I have guns. And I know how to use them.

As living proof of Alicia's truth and wisdom, I have an arsenal in and around my home but haven't shot a deer in decades. I obsess over having every one of my rifles sighted in perfectly at all times. Even a thick-headed dunce like Barack Obama realized that taking guns from law abiding Americans is not going to happen without thousands of casualties on both sides with the flyover country American citizens being better armed than our corrupt government, as it should be and always will be. Take your "common sense gun control" and shove it, the common sense is all on our side.

I grew up with guns and hunting. Guns in the '50s and '60s were a way of life and not a second thought about nothing more than fun and hunting not killing people with them. Then the military that was another lesson in life but still no mass murders like today. What has changed is we are now a Godless country but everyone carries it's currency with "In God We Trust" there's no doubt that the Founding Father's establish this nation with God at it's core.
What happened was society was dumb down and hijacked by elite and power hungry politicians. Normal people deemed less fortunate (to the elites) will have us fight their wars they start and pay them taxes to live lavish lives "like" elite people. The problem is they are 'elite' in their own mind when I wouldn't give the idiots the time of day on the street. They are not elite maybe some deserve to be respected because they have earned it like our President. When I see the sheer ignorance of the democrat politicians and a few Republicans who want to run this great nation all I can say is "you darn right I need a firearm". I don't want the fake elites to 'rule' over me and steal my freedoms which God gave me.

I have owned and used firearms since my pre-teen years. Unfortunately, my extensive collection of fine firearms was lost in a tragic boating accident. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Make no mistake, the left is inching its way toward total disarmament of the American public. Under the skin of every democrat is a socialist just itching to get enough power to put people who disagree with them in reeducation camps.
The original purpose of the 2nd amendment was to enable citizens to keep power mad bureaucrats in check.

If the "resistance": 1. Understood the reason for well armed citizens; and 2. Really believed that President Trump was the reincarnation of Hitler, they would be all for gun ownership. Hey! I think they must be up to something entirely different.

I'm still waiting to hear someone ask these gun-grabbers why someone who would commit murder (against the law) would pay any attention to a gun law? The penalty for murder is vastly greater than the penalty for illegal gun ownership, so why would the crazy murderer care about it?
I doubt you could get a straight answer, but it would be fun to watch them go through contortions, trying to deflect from the question!

I grew up in the 1950s. Guns were much more available then than now. You could get a JC Higgins rifle mail order, no background check or FFL. Yet in the entire decade o f the Fifties there was one, count 'em, one mass shooting. Ask your local liberal why, if availability of guns is the problem, there was only that one mass shooting in that entire decade?

I read this quote just yesterday but not sure where so I can't give proper credit: "The men who wrote the 2nd Amendment hadn’t just finished a hunting trip. They had just liberated a nation."

As a gun owner, my respect for life is very high. But, I will know what to do if I believe my life is being threatened. Besides, as the saying goes, "government fears citizens with guns, citizens with no guns fear government".

Good grief. You can have all the laws in the world, but most crimes are committed with stolen guns.
Yesterday, Dana Loesch played some of Congresswoman Demings speech. As a black woman who was the former chief of police, she knows better.
She also knows her service weapon, in her service vehicle, at her million dollar home in a gated community was stolen "cause she had family visiting' and she was not punished.
Does anybody really believe a criminal will buy a gun at a dealer, wait for the background check and go on their happy way? Really?
