Former "Empire" star Jussie Smollett filed a motion Friday requesting that the court nullify an order last month assigning a special prosecutor to look into the handling of his case after its sudden dismissal by embattled State's Attorney Kim Foxx. "Jussie Smollett, by his attorneys, Geragos & Geragos, respectfully requests that this Court grant his Motion, vacate the June 21, 2019 Order, and deny the Petition to Appoint a Special Prosecutor," reads the filing submitted by his attorneys, Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian, as reported by Deadline Friday.

Smollett’s family should go to court and, instead of asking to drop the special prosecutor, they should get a court order to have little Jussie institutionalized. He is clearly insane and a danger to himself and others.

What a gigantic crybaby Jussie is! Just like anyone who commits a crime AND is politically connected, when the coverup becomes obvious they double down on their wacky excuses. He really does need to serve time in jail. Take your punishment like a man, Jussie. Who knows, you may end liking prison!

They haven't bothered to appoint a special prosecutor yet, or possibly ever. So Jessie decides to kick the hornet's nest. Is this pro-bono work from the Abbot & Costello Associates? The Courts care more about the appearance of justice than anything else. Either we have a Court of Laws or Captain Kangaroo in black robe. This was a stupid move.

With a heat wave currently turning half the country into a steam bath and the next round of Democratic Party presidential debates coming up in just over a week, it's likely climate change (né global warming) will be at or near the top of the agenda. For the Democrats, climate armageddon is right around the corner, the only question really open for debate being whether that corner is twelve years away or twenty. Global warming is a religion to them and, as with so many religions, you obey its strictures or else. Just ask Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. That this isn't the most scientific approach to climate

The Democrats have spent well over two years asking themselves what they did wrong in the last presidential election and how to avoid those mistakes in 2020. But they seem to suffer from a collective learning disability that prevents them from absorbing the obvious: Their party will lose again if they continue to insult the voters by insisting that the president they elected isn’t worthy of the office and that their country was founded on oppression and remains rife with racism, cruelty, and injustice. Yet this false and dispiriting vision seems once again to have become the Democratic Party line. The lesson the Democrats seem to have learned from 2016

Ever since billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on July 6 on charges of sex trafficking, the media have been scrambling to make sense of what happened on Little St. James, his 70-acre private island in the Caribbean. But on nearby St. Thomas, locals say Epstein continued to bring underage girls to the island as recently as this year—a decade after he was forced to register as a convicted sex offender—and that authorities did nothing to stop him. Two employees who worked at the local airstrip on St. Thomas tell Vanity Fair that they witnessed Epstein boarding his private plane on multiple occasions in the company of girls who appeared

Just when you think our political culture can’t sink any lower, the race card gets tossed onto the table, as those who know how to play that game reach from the gutter to portray themselves as enlightened. It’s a tired old tactic, yet in the right hands it remains regrettably effective. More than 30 years ago, in one of his most inglorious moments, the late Ted Kennedy went onto the Senate floor, ostensibly to philosophically oppose Ronald Reagan’s nomination of Judge Robert Bork to the Supreme Court. Fair enough. They surely had philosophical differences.

Three significant anniversaries passed this week. Only two have truly been noted. First, of course, is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing on Saturday, July 20. The second was the 20th anniversary of the deaths of John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn Bessette and her sister Lauren Bessette in a small plane Kennedy was flying to Martha’s Vineyard. Only one of those deserves the hagiographic treatment both have been given, but I’ll get to that later. The third was also a 50th anniversary, one that passed just two days after JFK Jr.’s and was, in many ways, related.

President Trump’s nomination of Eugene Scalia to lead the Labor Department would put one of the private-sector attorneys most responsible for frustrating the Obama administration’s labor policy agenda in charge of the current administration’s agenda. The cases he worked on indicate that Scalia, son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, is well versed in the minutiae of labor law, federal regulations, and agency procedures. “There is no finer legal mind in the field of labor and employment law,” said Gregory Jacob, a partner with the management-side firm O'Melveny. How confident should the Joe Biden team be right now? Think about all of the factors that contributed to Hillary Clinton’s defeat in 2016. She was a figure who had been around a long time, among the best-known names in the party establishment. As a senator, she worked closely with her home state’s financial industry, leaving some liberal grassroots concluding she was a corporatist who was far too comfortable with big business. Critics asked how someone who had spent the past few decades in the public sector could so quickly become a multimillionaire, and contended that her family foundation had engaged in shady deals with foreign governments and foreign businesses.
