There are more important things worth writing about today, but..No, there aren’t. One of the most iconically cheesy movies of the 1980s has finally gotten its sequel, with the most famous movie star in the world reprising his lead role. There’s nothing more important. It’s the biggest news out there.Trump should have premiered this in the Oval Office, for fark’s sake.In case you’re not keeping track, Hollywood is in the process of reviving every hit action film of the decade when Trump first made his mark on America’s consciousness. The new “Top Gun” is here. We’re getting a new “Rambo” soon. The next “Terminator” arrives this fall.

So so tired of 'remakes' of movies....just proves that Hollywierd doesn't have the intellectual capacity to create anything new...

Should be a fun movie to watch. Some excellent actors will be in it as well.
For those have actually experienced flying high performance military jets from aircraft carriers, it will be a kick and bring back some fond and not so fond memories. For those who feel the need for speed, wear a zoom bag and serve their country, it may motivate them to actually pursue the challenge.
To quote Teddy Roosevelt, “Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
Betcha there will be an uptick in interest/recruitment in military aviation service after they roll out the flick.

Oh jeez. It's one thing to have old guys playing the hero...but it's unforgivable to have the remake using old planes. Where the fark are the F-35s???

Hollywood has plenty of creativity. What they do not have is a Studio boardroom capable of understanding the creative. They cannot see the money in it, so they refuse to green light any project they think might fail. That is what happens when lawyers and accountants run the town. They cannot see the big picture. They see the money that was made from all those movies in the previous decades and will green light those because they are safe. I have read plenty of comments from writers and interviews with independent producers who try to get past the gatekeepers and they cannot. There is plenty of creativity, but nobody who will take a chance. Besides, they have a huge Asian market that probably hasn't seen most of the originals that are being remade right now, so again, lots of money to be made with no stress in the boardroom.

When do we get the diversity spinoff of Top Gun with an all-black cast becoming the new Tuskegee Airmen? (Hold my beer, going to quickly type up a script outline to option to Hollywood.)
On another note, I miss the old F-14 Tomcat. What a beautiful bird. Also miss the wicked looking F-4 Phantom.

Dear Allahpundit, the Navy doesn’t fly F-15s for fark sake, and if a movie is good, it’s good whether you’re a right winger patriot or not. Got it, farkin icehole?

What a snarky article. Top Gun was a kid’s movie, a veritable cartoon that launched Tom Cruises’s career and increased Navy recruitment. Today’s old fogies, the group to which Allahpundit refers so disrespectfully, were young parents when it came out, not kids who were greatly influenced by it. I know. My 7 year-old son couldn’t get enough of it. Will he watch the new Top Gun? Probably not, but the original was thrilling to little boys and girls who were too young to remember Reagan’s presidency and a fun-corny movie for their parents to watch with them.

I was in college when the original was released—I just sat and laughed as the teen girls squealed at the sight of Tom Cruise. It was unreal. I liked the film, especially as it was filmed in my hometown of San Diego, and yes, Tom and the guys were pretty darn cute. And, I love a man in uniform and military films so shoot me! I like the trailer and will be happy to view the film via my streaming box at some point...for free. Tom’s still pretty cute, btw. Weird, but cute. Must be his cheeky smile...

Let's see, another dried up remake -- or a PC-destroyed franchise (a black female 007)?!?!?!?!?
For years, my husband and I have been going to one movie a year. This will be the third year that we haven't gone to a single movie. Don't see that tradition returning any time soon. Haven't missed it at all!!!

I had been off active duty for a decade when it came out and spent a lot of time after working around military (if I had taken the contract to work on F-4/F-14's in Iran I would have been about halfway through my contract when the Shah few his arse out of town) but I started laughing from about the 2nd scene (I don't care who you are, you don't ride a motorcycle on base without a helmet!) and didn't stop until the credit roll - we used it as part of our demo videos through the '90's

In addition to the donation to Scientology that Mr. Cruise will make on your behalf for supporting his movies he would appreciate greatly if you would also donate directly to the CoS to help clear the planet and ruin more children's and family's lives. Credit cards are accepted.

Hollywood is officially out of ideas when you see a constant stream of retreads. The first Top Gun wasn't bad when nobody was talking or taking their clothes off. The aerial photography was pretty good and the Kawasaki Ninja did a great job racing the Tomcat.

No thanks. It could be the best movie in the history of humankind but I refuse to spend one penny on anything Tom Cruise related.
