AOC’s Squad and America May

A point has yet to be made about the four American socialist Democratic congresswomen whom President Trump is advising to go back to the places they came from. It’s not just that three of them were born in America. It’s that while Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Omar Ilhan, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley may change America, the likelihood is that America will change them even more. And it has a way of changing all of us for the better. It’s not that we agree with the Squad’s socialist sentiments. We prefer the kind of pro-growth, laissez-faire capitalism of which Mr. Trump is a tribune.

These women are not going to change. Years ago, people were educated. Today, they are not. Anyone who can compare a border control facility to a concentration camp should not be in government. And I agree with Trump, Omar should go back to Somalia....perhaps she would realize what a great country we have instead of telling us she loves America more than natural born citizens.

I know a place where the four anti-America buffoons can go if they want to fix a government, Venezuela. There's plenty of work to do there than to change a system up and running as the great United States of America.

The Four Stooges need a change in status to "Unemployed." It's criminal that we must support their sorry butts for the rest of their hateful lives because Congress has a tendency to take care of itself before it does its job or takes care of the American people.

Just when it seems Facebook can’t get more sinister, more Orwellian or more mercenary, it does — announcing its own branded global cryptocurrency. Does this strike anyone else as terrifying? A company that has operated with impunity, under zero federal regulations, whose CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has been called — in a hapless act of political theater — to explain his shadowy practices before Congress, yet has never offered specific correctives to any of his outfit’s failings or overreaches or unintended consequences, mak

NEW YORK - Support for U.S. President Donald Trump increased slightly among Republicans after he lashed out on Twitter over the weekend in a racially charged attack on four minority Democratic congresswomen, a Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll shows. The national survey, conducted on Monday and Tuesday after Trump told the lawmakers they should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” showed his net approval among members of his Republican Party rose by 5 percentage points to 72%, compared with a similar poll that ran last week.

Stefan Halper, the shadowy Cambridge academic who may have helped the FBI spy on the Trump campaign, was paid more than $1 million by a U.S. agency for research papers of dubious value, according to a new government report. But even as it shed new light on Halper’s work, the report left unanswered central questions about his Trump-Russia role and raised new ones about the circuitous winds on which Washington dollars manage to fly out the window. In the months leading up to the 2016 election, Halper famously approached and questioned – sometimes amiably, sometimes aggressively --

In a way, I can’t blame those who grew up in the Cold War for being pessimistic about the future. We lived then in an age of potential nuclear annihilation and Hollywood made sure that we knew about what would happen if it occurred. The studios rolled out film after film of post-apocalyptic dystopian worlds from Planet of the Apes to Soylent Green. These films were usually shot in vast desert areas in foreign countries because the truth is that America is still very, very beautiful.

America is a providential nation, chosen by God always to be a beacon of freedom and hope. In the freedom and opportunity it offers its citizens and in the example it offers to other nations, America is that "city upon a hill" envisioned by John Winthrop, first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. By that, he meant that the pilgrim colony in New England, standing proudly as if on a hill, would be a model of goodness and right living for all to see. America is still that city upon a hill, but our future is less certain.

In 1958 Eugene Burdick and William Lederer published The Ugly American. The book was written to expose the failure of U.S. diplomatic personnel in Southeast Asia. The American diplomatic corps were boorishly indifferent to local language, customs, and culture. The book caused quite a stir in the waning days of Eisenhower’s administration, and Kennedy used it as springboard to launching the Peace Corps.(snip). A mysterious change seems to come over Americans when they go to a foreign land. They isolate themselves socially. They live pretentiously. They are loud and ostentatious."

There have now been five national polls since the first Democratic presidential primary debate. Together, the surveys, conducted by ABC News/Washington Post, Quinnipiac, CNN, The Hill/Harris, and Politico/Morning Consult, show the debate has shaken up the race. The field has separated into three clearly definable tiers, all atop a large group at the bottom made up of candidates with virtually no support. Within the first tier -- Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren -- the leaders' positions are rapidly shifting. Since the debate, only one of the four -- Harris -- is up, while Biden, Sanders, and Warren are down.

The New York Post on Tuesday released an editorial completely trashing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her theatrics over the so-called "concentration camps" at the southern border. The editorial board recounted numerous rhetorical moments AOC carried out (emphasis mine): Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is horrified at what she’s seen on her visit to a holding facility for illegal immigrants — just a week after she voted against emergency funding to improve conditions at what she’d taken to calling “concentration camps.” This after months when Democrats insisted that talk of a border crisis was just a Trump admin

It’s déjà vu all over again. President Trump has given the hanging party a first-rate piece of rope to use against him. His tweet will not live in infamy, but his cringe-worthy “go back” language rhymes with many of his earlier self-inflicted mistakes. The pattern was established during the 2016 campaign and he has been faithful to it many times since taking office. It always seems to happen when things are going pretty well. So it was Sunday, with Democrats engulfed in a vicious civil war and Trump’s poll numbers rising against the 2020 candidates as the public begins to realize how far left they are goin

An open letter to Barack Obama: Mr. President, it is time. You must speak. Your country needs you. Eleven summers ago, as you accepted the Democratic nomination for president, you announced: “Tonight, I say to the people of America, to Democrats and Republicans and independents across this great land: Enough. This moment — this election — is our chance to keep, in the 21st century, the American promise alive.” Of course, we knew then that our nation had deep political differences, and would continue to. Only the most naive among us would have expected the election of the first African American president to come about with no backlash. But would anyone have anticipated

Berkeley became the first city nationwide to ban the use of natural gas in new low-rise residential buildings in a unanimous vote Tuesday by the City Council. The ordinance, introduced by Councilwoman Kate Harrison, goes into effect Jan. 1, 2020, and phases out the use of natural gas by requiring all new single-family homes, town homes and small apartment buildings to have electric infrastructure. After its passage, Harrison thanked the community and her colleagues “for making Berkeley the first city in California and the United States to prohibit natural gas infrastructure in new buildings.” The city will include commercial buildings

How can we know this? She has declared it in writing. Omar's campaign website includes a section called "Ilhan's Vision." The agenda it presents contradicts foundational American principles — particularly the rights to life and property — that were spelt out in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The declaration says that "all men are created equal" and "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights."
