A lex Acosta did a bad job on the Jeffrey Epstein case. This column was nearly finished when news broke Friday that he would resign as labor secretary. I was going to argue that his lapses did not justify joining the nakedly political mau-mauing by Democrats who have no interest in exploring the behavior of Democrats who are neck-deep in a monstrous pedophile’s activities. My friend Jennifer Braceras has ably addressed that point in a Washington Examiner column. I was also going to add that I’d shed no tears if President Trump forced Acosta out — easy for me to say, since I think (a) he should never

This will be old news in a couple days. The Dem's and the media got what they wanted to shame Trump for hiring Acosta and to remove him. This is not about the young girls. They were fishing to see if Trump went to Orgy Island and he didn't so it's over. They will not go after Bubba.

What about Epstein's residences other than NY and FL? If he trafficked in underage girls in those two venues, what about citing him for similar crimes in his homes in New Mexico and his private island in the Caribbean? New evidence required, as cited by this article, could be found in those venues. Meantime, how about more leaks as to the passengers on the Lolita Express?

Andrew, I do not agree with you in this case. There are different victims in NY than there were in FL. Each crime against each victim can be prosecuted individually or together, as prosecutors decide. If you commit one bank robbery, are convicted, and serve time, that does not give you a free forever pass to rob banks after you are released. You might even rob the same bank again and be prosecuted all over again for the same crime against the same victim. It is the instance of a crime that is prosecuted once, though mistrials are prosecuted again sometimes.

And I read in the last day or so, that the victims, had nothing, now, to fear;
except being disappointed again.

Well, I just don't really hate to say this; but I told ya so. Acosta was rushed in to rescue the dirty accomplices. Epstein was trouble- real trouble. Epstein put all that on ice by giving away the baby with the bathwater. That President Trump picked him is not important. The real nut on all this is to now go after the accomplices- they did not get a deal. They only got a smokescreen. Do the real work on this- go get the people who took advantage of Epstein's dirty deal with little girls and boys.

This time there are way too many eyes on this for the rich and powerful to sweep it under the rug.
And this time there is one rich and powerful guy named Trump who is throwing their rugs in the dumpster.
And this time Rachel (Ray) Chandler might tell what she knows, in an effort to lighten her sentence.
And this time President Donald Trump signed an executive order on December 21, 2017 which blocks the property and assets of persons involved in serious human rights abuses and corruption.

I wish I had not read this. I was much happier in my ignorance about the protection Epstein will receive from our double jeopardy laws. I hope Andrew McCarthy is wrong.

Maybe there are new offenses, Mr. McCarthy. We don't know yet. The SDNY prosecutor is not impressive, nor is that jurisdiction's reputation impeccable, or admirable, as Mr. McCarthy likes to say, at least when he was there. Sorry, not impressed with the SDNY, nor the parsing in this article, which appears premature.

This is baloney. They're trying to shut it down for bogus reasons. Since he continued doing what he was first prosecuted for, there are new 'victims' to use to charge him. Must be a lot of leftards in government and media that would be exposed if this isn't shut down.

A good defense attorney, in negotiating a plea deal, hasa an obligation to tie up any loose ends, and make a clean deal, sweeping away othethr charges.
The Southern District scoundrels in NY should find other girls, who claim molestation, from other times. That removes the double jeopardy problem. (A sex offender like Jeffrey, or Dollar Bill Clinton, keeps up performing bad behavior, so it should be easy. got the feds to bring better charges.)
I think that is what McCarthy is saying.

Oops! I doubt that higher ups in Justice, or Director of the FBI, Herr Mueller, were not in the decision loop in Jeffrey's earlier prosecution.

Having read the stories and timelines on what really happened to the Epstein case in Florida, I disagree with Andrew. Not the first time.
Andrew has been a #NeverTrumper forever. It substantially colors his thinking/writing.

How about charges of conspiracy to blackmail using the videos and photos taken of others on his properties? Where did this guy's money come from? Inquiring minds . . . . .
