Navy SEAL Chief Edward Gallagher was fined and busted down a rank Wednesday following his conviction for posing with a photo of a war casualty in Iraq a day after the same jury cleared him of murder. The jury busted him from an E-7 to an E-6, and he will have to forfeit $2,697 of his pay for two months. The seven-member panel of Marines and sailors also imposed a four-month jail sentence but that requirement has already been met because Gallagher had already spent 10 months behind bars before his trial.

Sore losers. There seem to be some people in our military that really hate our military.

Meanwhile FBI Agents, IRS Agents, CIA & State Dept traitors are retired with full pension, not a care in the world. I have not heard that Trump has cleaned house on the Obama political weasel generals he promoted. We need warriors in the DOD and eliminate the JAG legalization of our ability to wage war.

So, he got a four month jail sentence, but already spent 10 months in jail. Does that mean someone owes him for 6 months of his life? How about the prosecutors spend 6 months in jail, and we call it even?
I don't really care how our military kill ISIS fighters, or any muslim fanatics, or if they take pictures of it. Let them fight the war, and get the lawyers out of it.

A U.S. destroyer collided with a merchant ship somewhere around Singapore. Ten U.S. sailors were killed in the collision. The destroyer caused the collision.
Captain of the destroyer, named Sanchez, admitted that he assigned the wrong crew to steer the destroyer, and that he was unfamiliar with the controls on his destroyer.
Captain Sanchez was fined 3000 dollars and a letter was put in his personnel file. There was no other punishment.
That baffles me, when I consider what has been done to Gallagher.

Perhaps the command should require some combat duty for these law library commandos.

This is why I served my time, got out, and never looked back. He should have been given a promotion for what those useless, politically correct idiots with their stars put him through.

You train a man to kill the enemy and to stay alive while doing it. You put him in a situation where emotions run rampart. Then when he pulls the trigger the last time in the battle you expect him to become a wus. There are many "leaders" in our military that are completely out of touch. We started losing battles when we allowed lawyers on the battle field to armchair quarterback every firefight.

During Viet Nam war there was the Mi Lai (sp?) incident . Does anyone remember what happened to that officer?

The people who should be losing rank are the JAG officers who inserted spyware into the emails between Gallagher and his attorneys. They should also be dis-barred.
As for the other"Seals", and I use that term loosely as they do not deserve that title, I hope their names go down in the annals of Seal History as the traitors they are! A pox on all of them!
Ponder this: A dedicated Navy Seal for 20+ years is forced to stand by and do nothing as his children are forced out of the house in their underwear. They're lucky he didn't kill them. Talk about restraint!!!

We should start a go fund me to make donations for his lost pay. He should also be compensated for the months in jail over his sentence.

The thing that I learned about Court Marshals is that no one ever escapes on unscathed. When an active duty member is charged, the prosecutors have a bad habit of tacking on additional charges. Up to and including insubordination because they didn't like your attitude during the investigation. (the military's version of a "process" crime) I've seen many people beat the original more serious charge only to get tripped up by something like behavior unbecoming. Military justice is as much a joke as its civilian counterpart.
That said, demoting the Chief one pay grade and 4 months for a photograph is grossly excessive. A simple time served or a fine would have been more than sufficient.

I think President Trump should meritoriously promote Eddie Gallagher to Chief Petty Officer. For the record I am a retired Seabee Chief Petty Officer.

The Navy lawyers think taking away “the hat” will destroy Gallagher.

This is all BS. Even if he killed the twit, it was an ISIS combatant. Since when are soldiers under combat situations not allowed to kill enemy combatants? ISIS soldiers were killing everyone for whatever reason they wanted. As far as I'm concerned. The Navy Seal should have been given a medal.

I can believe it. These clerks were not going to be denied their ounce of flesh. I sincerely hope President Trump has been following this case.

He's not the only one. Many other service personnel have gone and are still going through the same thing. Disgusting!
